I was first introduced to Tommy Sands by rockabilly singer Glen Glenn in Palm Springs in the late 1990s. A couple of years later I was driving Tommy to a special show in Los Angeles when I asked him, "Tommy, of all the songs you have recorded, which one is your favorite ? He replied that Capitol Records always wanted him to sing Big Band style songs, but he wanted to sing in the rockabilly style, his favorite was The Worrying Kind. Yes ! That is also my favorite of your songs !"

The best Gene Vincent song that Gene Vincent never recorded. LOVE this record.

One of the most incredible rock records of its time, remarkable vocals and a great rhythm with a tantalising guitar solo that's totally mesmerising.

I haven't heard this song in over 50 years. I always liked it, good sound.

It was the "pick hit of the week" back in the day, in San Francisco, where I lived (KOBI and KYA FM). A few days after I heard it for the first time I went to a local department store record department to buy it. Not only was it not available, but it was not played on the radio starting right around that time. I thought that was really strange.

Not the biggest hit ever, but one of the greatest rockabilly songs of all time!
First heard this as a teenager and loved it. I'm now 76 years old and finally got around to doing my own cover of it. Here's the link:

Sands was married to Nancy Sinatra between 1960 and 1965, when they divorced.

I understand Tommy's father-in-law had this record pulled off the airwaves, shortly after it was released. Thus, it was not the big hit it was otherwise destined to become.

Frank Sinatra was as vindictive and vengeful as anyone could be. Your "timing" observation is irrelevant.

@@user-ox5qp1wm7c It most certainly is!!LOL They divorced in 1965 this record was released in 1958. So to try to blame Nancy's father is crazy.
