i'm 34. Mom n Dad were born in 1952. I was raised on Doo Wop and Motown. I love this song, and genre, and time period so much....I love my 80s rock and heavy metal. I love reggae and ska. but man the 50's were an amazing time for music!
I´m only 23 but I love music from this time period so much! When I was young my grandparents and parents always listened to music from when my grandparents were young and I am so grateful they did and introduced me to so many wonderful songs.
Born in 1985 but I had older cousins and such, parents born in 57 and 59, significantly raised with my grandparents, and Ive always loved older music. Looking at the cars and listening to the music, I cant imagine what it must have been like to grow up in the 50s and 60s!
You’re lucky. You got to experience the golden age of America. It wasn’t perfect but it was way better than this degenerate wasteland some of us have had to grow up in
My mom saw Bobby Darin having breakfast in a diner in Reno in the 60's and he was on his own. She went to say hello and he invited her to join him, mom said he was a real gentleman and very nice.
Some times, for no understandable reason, a just plain average guy like me sees that dream lover. She is the most beautiful girl ever. And he risks it all and goes up to her and says hi. Married 45 years next week. She is still my dream lover and the most beautiful 74 year old girl ever. We both love Bobby and his music. What a blessed man I am.
I hope you appreciate that. Not everyone has this luck my man. Wish you two the best. I'm 26 and haven't find the love of life yet. Sometimes I'm not sure if it will happen, but I guess I have time to find her
I met my girl, my dream when I was 27 and she 29, we married after just four months. Has 45 years of marriage always been easy? No. But Our Lord blessed us with each other and a strong love and commitment to He and each other. So do you still have time? Yes lots, pray for Gods guidance.@@onepieceguy2659
I was born in 1950, a perfect time for music. In my life we had all the 50’s groups, Bobby Darin, Elvis, then I was a teen with the Beatles, Stones, Beach Boys , Petula Clark and Leslie Gore, Simon and Garfunkel, all the British pop groups, then late teens-20’s, we had the Doors, Led Zeppelin, then Elton John and on and on, not to mention all the heavy rock of the sixties, seventies, I could go on forever , R & B, Ray Charles, Aretha …. Then the fun disco stuff from the 80’s. I think my time caught it all, country western, Motown, rock, top 40s. I feel so lucky…
I just turned 53 and I'm glad that my parents played this kind of music as I grew up. Such great voices and my Mom loved to dance. It all made for one very happy childhood.
Joan. Ayres thats awesome Joan! i met my baby girl in 2011 and we got together the very first day we met, we have our ups and downs but more than three years on and im still sure shes the one :) heres to hoping it stays that way
when I got my first car, the mechanic who did all the restoration work made me a cassette tape of his old cruising music from the 50s and this was one of my favs on the it. He passed away and my 1968 chevy has long rusted away, but this music brings it all back
Ashley Pulido Mack the knife, Book of love, Duke of earl, I wonder why by Dion and the Belmonts. These are just a few that I can still remember right now. The music ranged from the late 50s to about 1963. I wonder now where that cassette ended up. I bet it was still in one of my old cars when it got crushed.
I have certainly enjoyed and love my generation. I'll be 73 on February 7th; still this song pulls at my heart strings. Tonight I dedicate it to my true dream lover who is so very far away. Marcus Fred you are and will always be my dream lover until the last of my generation has moved on. Happy to know that generations now and future generations after me will get to enjoy this beautiful love ballad.

I think I FINALLY figured out (mind you, I have been listening to this song since it was first on the radio in early 1959) who is playing those great Fender Jazzmaster riffs all through this song, and I believe it to be Roy Lanham, a jazz guitarist who, as I understand it, was in with Leo Fender and received what was probably the very first commercial Jazzmaster ever produced. And IT was the first ever recorded and it was used in THIS song! Headphones would be left channel, with piano in the right. And NOW, this has 124M views and 558 thousand thumbs up. Bob Remel that’s awesome God bless you and thank you for serving, my dad was in Nam as he called it, I also served as did all of my 6 older brothers and I love the music, the memories may differ in timeline but the music is timeless as all truly beautiful and magical things are, hands of man were used by the almighty to bring alive his inspired creation
@@manchild3479 In 1973, after failing to take antibiotics to protect his heart before a dental visit, Darin developed sepsis, an overwhelming systemic infection, which further weakened his body and affected one of his heart valves.
This song takes me back to a simpler time. Bobby Darin's smooth voice and catchy melody are just as enchanting now as they were when "Dream Lover" was first released. It's amazing to think that over six decades later, this song still has the power to captivate and inspire. Let's keep the love for this classic tune alive! ❤
I'm 41. I learned about Bobby Darin as a kid. I just wish, that he coulda had More time to be around. He had a Time Clock ticking from the age of 5 that gave out at 37.
I remember when he died because my parents were his age and big fans so we never missed anything he was on. He was very well loved by all his peers and fans as well. If you want to see him at his best check out any of his guest appearances on Andy Williams Show or his own show from the early 70s.
I'm 60 and I grew up listening to my parents records, this is beautiful and almost angelic. " because I want yeah yeah A girl yeah yeah to call my own . I want a dream lover , so I won't have to dream alone"

My family left Arkansas in 1952 and moved to central California. Every summer, when school let out for the next ten years we returned to visit our Arkansas family. I remember sitting on a cousin's twin bed one hot, muggy afternoon, surrounded by a dozen or more male cousins--listening as "Dream Lover" played over-and-over on the record player. Swooning as we listened to every word, we talked of girls, cars, and our favorite songs. To this day, when I hear this song, I am taken back to that day in Osceola, Arkansas, when life was simple, the promise of love sweet; when every boy dreamed of one day finding that "Dream Lover."
itsraining deluca I am so glad that I was raised during the 50s. It was a simple way of life with not many worries. Maybe it was because it followed WWII when there was such uncertainty in the world. But they were GREAT years.

This guy was one of music's big losses. He could write and perform songs of great variety and style. They say music and smell can conjure up a memory. Whenever I hear this I remember this song playing on the N.A.A.F.I jukebox at R.A.F. Cosford in 1960 as I walked past and the smell of newly cut grass - or if I smell newly cut grass I remember the song. I was 16.
I wasn't alive yet in 1950's, but this is one of the songs I found in my teens & fell in love with it... City boys singing about being gangsta was never really my thing though.
@Oscar Arnesen The music of the era was too diverse; sounds coming off the radio were new and different. Every song didn't repeat every other song. But check these out and see if they scratch the itch: 'Dreamin'' Johnny Burnett; "When My Little Girl Is Smiling" the Drifters; "Runaway'" Del Shannon; "Take Good Care of My Baby" Bobby Vee; "She's Everything (I Wanted You To Be)" Ral Donner; "Baby, I Need Your Loving" Four Tops; "Every Breath I Take" Gene Pitney...
Bobby had a gifted talent his voice. He could sing and his songs would stand up to music today . Let's not forget about his acting. RIP Bobby You left us way too early.
I hate the stereotype that 50's/60's music is "for old people." As someone born in 1989 and a fan of rap r&b rock and everything in between I won't hesitate to say this song is one of my all time favorites. Simple but amazing. Catchy feel good music doesn't discriminate on age :)
Taken as a whole, I get it. But this record is anything but "simple." There's a lot going on here. The slightly dissonant high pitched piano notes right at the intro for one. Multiple key changes for two. A lot of inspiration, thought and aural imagination went into the production of this record. Listen to the background, the various instrumental and vocal sounds upon which Bobby Darrin's voice floats.
good on you young man! Its refreashing to see youth enjoy music thats not mumbled with curse words while they act out sex acts on dance partners with there pants sagging around the hips.
Just make me cry when I listen to this pure clean music and compare with music we hear of now. Gos bless all of them who created such beautiful music ❤
To say this song is good or great is an understatement. This song is one of the greatest songs of all time, the kind of song that can only be equalled but not surpassed.
you mean a repetitive chorus to do with a simple depiction of love with a catchy tune to go along with it? sounds like 90% of the songs on the radio. we're still in the same position desperately searching for something more in a world of monotony
LOL me too I was actually watching hot shots last night that movie is one of my favourites and I'm only 12 my generation should be watching and listening to new music and movies not old ones but Charlie sheen was awesome in that movie

I'm a normal boy from Poland, with this song, I feel like I just got to know the love of my life
Bless you my friend!
Bobby D had some great songs but this was his greatest of them all!
Tout à fait oki
Cette chanson est superbe et a été adaptée en français notamment par Didier Barbelivien

I'm an 80's girl all day everyday but I adore all sorts of music and this one is beautiful!
I'm 41. I learned about Bobby Darin as a kid. I just wish, that he coulda had More time to be around. He had a Time Clock ticking from the age of 5 that gave out at 37.
Never get tired of this beautiful song 💖

This song will never age. The 50s and 60s are the best

That is sad. Were you old enough when this song came out? Funny how short life is, I'm in my 40s now and starting to realize that.
@@zeeshandogar9406 It first came out in 1959. Soo That is my parents era being born. 1956. They're already deceased.
I'm 37 always play this one and Dion x

Totally understand the feeling.
There will never ever be music like the fifties and sixties!Happy to be born in this Era.I am 72 now.
Sounds like a good memory I first heard this when I was 3 out on a Sunday drive with my grandparents ah the memories
I wish I could be in your time, besides this Century, everything is so complicated, I want it to be simple like before.
itsraining deluca I am so glad that I was raised during the 50s. It was a simple way of life with not many worries. Maybe it was because it followed WWII when there was such uncertainty in the world. But they were GREAT years.
joycehwys I bet they were, my father always talks about all the good memories he had. He always talked about going to the shore in New Jersey.
itsraining deluca you know I'm only 14
Bobby Darin was pretty good, he had a funny TV show back in the day

This guy was one of music's big losses. He could write and perform songs of great variety and style. They say music and smell can conjure up a memory. Whenever I hear this I remember this song playing on the N.A.A.F.I jukebox at R.A.F. Cosford in 1960 as I walked past and the smell of newly cut grass - or if I smell newly cut grass I remember the song. I was 16.
Me and my grandma were singing along to this in the car yesterday while my mom and sister were cringing and it was a big mood.

I wasn't alive yet in 1950's, but this is one of the songs I found in my teens & fell in love with it... City boys singing about being gangsta was never really my thing though.
DUDE I WAS LOOKING FOR MUSIC LIKE THIS FOR A LONG TIME
heck yea Megan
Anyone know other songs like this one?
I like Diana of Paul Anka

Before my time but mom played some good old music, now she is75 and I play it for her, have to make happy
great comment.
Well said Dee Jay Fergson!!!!!!! Respect from Australia.
good on you young man! Its refreashing to see youth enjoy music thats not mumbled with curse words while they act out sex acts on dance partners with there pants sagging around the hips.

They don't write music like this today, love it!!!
you mean a repetitive chorus to do with a simple depiction of love with a catchy tune to go along with it? sounds like 90% of the songs on the radio. we're still in the same position desperately searching for something more in a world of monotony
It would be impossible to write this on a computer
