Just couldn't ignore those 4 inch rise bars on Steve's bike 😂
Or that mighty moustache!!😂
They were hard not to miss! 😅
Granny bars.
Mark Weir is such a gangster. Who could rock that unbelievable 1970s stash and get away with it. Mark Weir will always be in my mind probably the greatest mountain biker of all time. He's not the best at one thing but he's the best of the lot of things and his will is just unbelievable to win. He made Downieville what it is today.
Just spent the weekend with Mark, what an absolute legend!!
Beautiful!
12:26 “However by now my body is also feeling like it is from another century” 🤣
More like this please. 👍
Poor old Steve, drew the short straw again! But, seriously, the other guys at EMBN must be green with envy. Looks fantastic.
Steve and the EMBN crew, did a fantastic visit to my home state of California! But this video was EPIC!!! The E-Bike has allowed me to get out and enjoy this Great State. So much to explore, even at 68 years old.
Hi Kent, It's so great to see you're out on electrical power! Thank you for the support and safe riding!
Awesome to have Mark vouching for ebikes. The people that hate them don't realize what it's like when you wake up after high school and/or college and it's been 20 years, you've been busting your *** trying to make a living for your family and you aren't in the same shape you used to be in. They aren't dirt bikes or scooters. They are bikes, and I think it's fantastic that it allows more people to get out there, enjoy the outdoors, and get back into shape.
Cracking video. Best argument for an eMTB you could ever make
We totally agree! It really does show how capable E-bikes are now! Thank you for the support!
Wow!! Great tracks.....love your bars Steve!! :-(
Mind blowing trails that will cleanse your mind great history good people great food but you need a good bike man you are living the dream, Respect 🙏 👌
Fantastic job on this video. I love me some Downieville and have done ONE epic ride out there on an E-Bike. All other rides have been on the Analog bike. But boy oh boy was it a BLAST exploring some of the less ridden trails out there. Can't wait to own an E-Bike of my own to get out there and explore even more.
Amazing trip and amazing views… keep these ebike experiences coming in this channel 🙏🏻💯💯
We certainly will! 👊
@@embn 👍🏻🙋🏻♂️👏🏻
Lovely content … epic filming and storytelling … always a joy with Steve 👍👍👍
Core yeh! Now your talking.
That riser bar tho 🤭
Fantastic. Absolutely a bucket list destination! And not that far from Colorado. Thanks
It’s a tough job Steve 🤙🤣
These short films are fantastic 😍
This is why I love being a subber of this channel. Onwards!
Ah yes to roll around the world on a EMTB!
Loved the handlebars Steve 🤣
Excellent episode & really epic trails!!!
Thank you, Igor! 👍
OMG seems to me 1 Episode of Downieville is not enough. Super Nice!!!
Epic riding and great looking trails.
It certainly was beautiful!
Wow this is some mind cleansing goodness! Great little doco and love every episode you guys bring out!
Thank you for the support, Ryland! It means a lot to us! Safe riding! 👍
Impressive segment. Great content, narrative, filming and editing. 👍
Love the bars, reminds me of years past used to ride something similar…..with stabilisers:-)
Great story, great pictures
Looks epic Steve, is that mountain lion country?! Kudos to the drone pilot too, it's tough flying close proximity with all those branches grabbing at the props.
It’s still (the Wild West) bears, mountain lions, rattle snakes, and a long list of wild life!
Great production!
Fantastic video again pall well jealous 👍😃⚡
Great episode!
Better than ever Steve. I live 1 hr from Downieville and you correctly pointed out the variety of terrain is endless and for E bikes it’s God’s country. I raft the clsss 4-5 Yuba in the spring and in late June return with my EBike until it snows again. It’s an amazing place! This yr I’ll be heading into those more remote areas you brought to my attention and save my money by not shuttling.
Wonderful GNB-Flix Docu-Tourism and all paid for by Cannondale! Amazingly all the better for that too with great production values. A wonderful bit of entertainment about an extraordinary race that should be on everyone’s bucket list - it’s on mine. Brazen advertisement, yes! But also fantastic entertainment too. Don’t do this too often, but let’s see more of this!
What an amazing place Steve, God that's on my bucket list some say✔️😍❤️❤️😉👌
I like that content and I hope there will be more. Super Steve !!!!
Thanks, Edgaras! Super Steve has a good ring to it! 😅
That was beautiful. Thanks!
Thanks for the support, APM!
@@embn visit eastern Idaho during winter cycling season and I will pay for your flight, hotel room and bike rental!
What a trip, one for the list!
Wow ….you lucky sod …enjoyed every minute of it
Great video guys!
amazing looking place, would love to go. but those riser bars though!
Excellent video, marks a real character, looks an amazing place, would love to see you go riding with John tomac, another legend.
Hey Kevin, Thanks so much for the support! Glad you loved the video! 👍
Last time I was in Downiville 2001, but after seeing this vid, I want to ride there with my eMTB:)
the terrain looks fucking amazing! wow I wish we had something like this in Germany. great footage. want MORE!!!
How high are those bars???
A wonderful travel documentary guys and a great advert to travel to the States to ride. Couldn't help but wonder how / why Steve rode with those super high rise bars ?
Interesting bars on your bike Steve very hi-rise... what's the story with that?
i’d like to know too. looks like a trials bike haha
Steve what handle bar did you have looked like a big rise on the bar
Downieville, 193 miles and about a 3 hour drive from my house according to Google maps. I guess I need to check it out. Looks like fun.
is it me or does Mark Weir with his voice and stash with the hoodie on really reminds me of Kurt Russell in the western Tombstone?
Is there a part two or another video you guys did? I seem to remember an entertaining second version.
Great video. I want to go hang with those guys! Thats what its all about!. Steve what did you think of those high rise handlebars?
this is going to blow up Downieville.
Its not really a secret, place is cracking during the summer
What was it like to ride with bars like that Steve? Good on the downhill sections .
Great video what height and width riser handlebars are you using
Hey Steve what’s with the 400mm rise bars? You going shopping 🤷♂️
More USA Content! This was great! You can live downstairs in my house in Colorado :) Free WiFi! LOL
Thanks for the support, Ryan! The free WiFi would be great! 🤔😂
THE GUACAMOLE!
Epic trip, but tell me how those bars were?
Typical California winter. Sunny and warm, blue skies.
What's the deal with the high rise handlebars?
Any chance of sharing the trails you rode?
I am now seriously contemplating whether to grow an epic womb-broom. Just need a serious mullet hairdo and could be mistaken for a New Zealand International cricketer!
sure was fun kicking Mark's but uphill back in the late 90's, but trying to keep him in sight down hill was just bad for my health. dude is a nut! lol
What’s with the bars, they were just missing a basket and streamers 😂
Ebikes fuckin rule 😁😁👍🏻👍🏻don't worry its just like snowboarding not accepted for a while but they will catch on .Too bad they will have missed so many years of kick ass fun 🔥🔥🔥🙏🙏👍🏻👍🏻🤣🤣
What was it like to use a 20mph ebike
Why are those bars so high?!?!?
Does anybody make a full suspension e bike to support someone that’s 6ft 6in and 300lbs
Giant Reign E+ maximum permissible weight 156Kg (344lb)
@@jeanmarc_in_Hudson where did you find this information? Not saying your wrong, I would just like to get more info on this bike. Thanks for the reply
@@wickedchevy9852 Been posting replies that don't seem to appear? The weight is in the Giant Owner's manual on their site...
Is that a handlebar moustache ?
Where's the wimmin?
Marks attitude to "why he uses an E-MTB" was where I was when I turned 50 a couple of years ago, but it's spot on, the "I'm the motor, I'll maybe get an e-bike when I'm 90" thing is so ego related, which in the majority of cases is (young) age related...... Yeah, 3 years with my KTM and still loving it, 35km/770m climb up/down the routes at the back of my house today by Glen Feshie on 504wh battery, the routes the "real bikers" only go down here in the Cairngorms.....some sun/heat would be nice though!!!
Steve…..the ever changing set up, what was going on with it????
Every ebike nay sayer needs to watch this. They need to ask themselves what is the ultimate goal when you go mtb? I dont see how ebikes harms that. I do lol a little about that extended boost. You know what would be even more useful? A throttle lol. Sometimes the stuff is just too much, if you dont have to walk it and can throttle for a moment, I really dont see the problem. If you use your ebike like a motorcycle, well then your not even riding a bike are you. An ebike levels the unfair physics that we have to encounter out in reality. If I can go more places, for longer, then where is the negative!? I get more experiences than you! This is from me who rides an analog bike 20mi to work every day. I am NOT a blind fanboy I have and enjoy them both!
This guy and his opinion is all of what it means to ride a n e-bike......
Absolutely! It's great to see how electrical power unlocks a whole new world of mountain biking!
Still need MORE reason to upgrade your MTBiking life to an eBike?!? ... Listen to Mark my friendz
Derestrict your ebike, trails are fast and flowy especialy 3rd divide.
Those handlebars have ruined the whole segment for me 😄
Man egmbn is putting on some amazing content..the other channel the gmbn has been making very redundant videos like how many videos videos have they made about hardtails its just redundant and no more creativity for them..egmbn has been to ther places not just in europe..hopefully gmbn gets out of their comfort zone and explore more..i know theres covid but egmbns content says you could do that
Downieville backcountry adventures are fun on bicycles, e-bikes and motos. Pick your poison and stop pretending one is better than the other.
Hey Steve, 1980s called and they want their handlebars back.😂😂😂
Downieville sucks, stay away!😉🌮
I will never be a proponent for electric bikes on trails. It changes the whole dynamic of the sport. You're no longer sharing a mountain peak with others that made it up there with their own power. Now all you have to have is enough battery power to get you up the climb and you'll all good. I get it. You want to ride farther than you could normally do without an electric assist. But, this has opened the door to people who you share the trails with that are just too lazy to put the work in to get in better shape. The sport use to be pure but not anymore. I use to share the trails with like-minded fit people who enjoyed the exertion of the climb as much as the exhilaration of the descent but now we have lazy fucks that want to cheat paying for their descents. Times have changed with mountain biking and it's not for the better. I don't give a shit that Mark Weir is doing massive rides with the assist of an electric motor. Mark Weir and the other select minority who are using electric assist to do these huge rides are an exception to the rule. Most people using these electric bikes are just too lazy to get into the shape necessary to do the rides they want to do. Mark Weir can spout off all he wants about how great these E-bikes are, but most people aren't using their E-Bikes to rides that are 100 miles long with 20,000 feet of elevation gain. They are using them to do the local ride that's 10 miles long and has a 1000 feet of climbing. Electric bikes are yet just another way to dumb down things so EVERYONE can play on a level playing field. Some people shouldn't be 20 miles out from the nearest road because they don't have the fitness to get back to civilization if their fancy electric motor take a shit on them. Up until recently, technology has improved the sport. Suspension for mountain bikes, great. Disk brakes, great. 29 inch wheels, great. Electric motors, not so great. It's a huge step in the wrong direction. Bicycles should be human-powered period! If you're not fit enough to climb a mountain, than I guess you either work to get in good enough shape to do it, or maybe you just don't climb that mountain. To put if mildly, I fucking hate that the sport I love has morphed into the abortion it has turned into.
😢
