Hi hope all good your end. Just come across you on UA-cam and love your layout. I’m from England and I am just about to attempt a garden railway myself. I was just curious as to what the base on which you have attached the rails to was made of and have you found it is coping with the weather conditions ok ie no warping. Regards Kevin
Hello Kevin, welcome to my page. With any outdoor layout, you want to be sure if it will stand the weather conditions. My area has fog, light frost, rain, and sunshine (but not extreme). I use stainless steel nails from Home Depot. The tracks are PECO code 100 Nickel Silver. Before you begin, I would advise buying one track and leaving it outside for one year. Once a month, clean the track and then run a train on it to see if rides smooth, received current, and check for any deterioration. I've yet to go to England, but I'm sure you have your share of wild weather also. Happy Railroading.
Been subscribed for awhile. Nice additions to the layout
