    You know what got me out of the full-on tension, belting mindset? Trying to do vocal takes at night while living in an apartment building. It’s crazy how quickly I started to be a better singer… hit higher notes than ever and sing for much, much longer with less fatigue. I just happened into much of what you’re teaching here. Glad for your video to continue honing it in! It’s so much of a mental thing.

    Holy grail, Sterling! From all the other teachers I see (and try to learn from), your explanations are the ones that make an instant click on me. Thanks for your videos 😊

    Thanks a mil for all the tips and for the consistency of method/messages video after video! All of these has been really helpful!
    cry technique, nasality, use of fry to reduce adduction, the ability to reach notes quieter … all requiring a whole different set of coordination … and, while i am still at the beginning of my journey, I believe those are game changers.
    Best. Thanks again.

    I can't count the number of times I've stopped myself and done these things. 1 - Do it quietly. 2 - Try taking the note higher. 3 - If all else fails, stop and watch one of your videos. You practice what you preach and it's evident on camera. I'm viscously envious of how relaxed you keep your jaw. Your facial position is so consistent it can be studied. I've even gone so far as to look at myself in the mirror and compare. It helps tremendously. So +1 for all your great singing stuff, and the T graphic thing. -2 for the dogs only getting ears in the video and no humping. I guess I'll rewatch this and drink every time you said T-Zone.

    Thanks for the insights on this. You’ve mentioned a few times at not getting too loud when singing. Would be interesting to know how loud you are getting when doing these exercises. Maybe one of the db level apps while you’re doing it might give some indication as to how loud you’re getting when you’re getting into mixed

      @SterlingRJackson  Рік тому +3

      With these exercises here they’re about the same level as my speaking voice until I push into them with my diaphragm but once again, loudness is sorta overrated. Mixed voice is a little quieter so it can be confusing. I’ve never used a decibel meter. I’ll look into it 😊

    Where's Rod Serling when you need him? You've just entered..... (strong inhale...) THE T ZONE! duh duh DUHHHHH! Is it too much tension if my toes curl when hitting a high note? Yeah? I thought so. I should try some singing exercises. nice vid!

    Thanks very patient and clear explanation. I struggle on that vowel modification part, that imaginary ball shaped he’s saying @22:22.. /avoiding to over enunciate the words.
    When I tried, I sounded like I’m eating my words and a bit similar tone to Arnold S.’s famous “Hasta la vista, baby” accent.

    Interesting fact about steve-o, he went on a quest to fix his voice for a short while, got his vocal chords analyzed along with the surrounding tissue, and all sorts of tests. He always thought he damaged his vocal chords from puking and huffing drugs but it turns out his vocal chords are in great condition and everything should work like normal. his doctors concluded that his crazy voice purely developed out of bad speaking habits, he just started straining his throat/voice muscles at some point in adulthood for seemingly no conscious reason. That was mind boggling to hear lol.

    Are you sure you're not a tenor? Your transition note is F sharp and you go above high C.

    My problem is that I have bad talking habits, and I have connected the action of closing the vocal cords to produce sound and activating some unnecessary muscles of the throat. Sometimes I get the right coordination by chace, but is really frustrating.

    Hi! Since I started the cry voice technique. The sensation is different because the sound is primarly located in the soft palate then I come with a question... How much of vibration should I feel in my nose when I practice? because its like in middle
