I never noticed until now that Egon subtly displays four fingers to Venkman before the latter tells the manager that it's going to cost $4,000 for the entrapment.
Not counting the ghost in Ray's dream, since it was just a dream, there was not a single on screen ghost during the entire sequence. Yet, with a single prop holding some dry ice in it, this movie was able to give the feeling that they've been going for a long time, gaining tons of experience and becoming famous. That's intelligent film making.
Based on the novelization I think Ray's dream was originally planned to be an actual event, in the novel it's part of a job Ray and Winston are doing while Venkman and Egon are dealing with the possession of Dana and Tully. While looking for the ghost Ray gets side tracked and decides to try on a revolutionary war uniform, lays down, then encounters the ghost in the same way he does in the dream from the movie. Winston hears voices coming from the room and walks towards the door, but Ray convinces him that he's fine and not to open it.

Heck, my grandma used to spin yarns about a spectral locomotive that used to rocket past the farm where she grew up. Now, as if some unseen authority had suddenly given permission, thousands of people are talking about encounters they claim to have had with ghosts”
Fun Fact: Both shots of the trio walking with the Atlantic magazine cover and of Venkman discussion no job and fee too big originally followed the first capture in the hotel.
Always remember them, bless those four men who gave us the best movie ever, also I think ray had what I like to call a "wet dream like a river flowing”

Fun fact: they actually got chased out of Rockefeller Center because it was illegal for them to shoot there at the time they even said so in the commentary
None actually. In the “Ghostbusters: International” mini series comics, they were holding job interviews for some more help and Janine made a comment that the last time they did open interviews, it was just Winston who showed up.
I don't know, one full power stream from the Proton Pack would likely make short work of Xenomorphs, especially since ordinary firearms are also more than sufficient to take care of them

At 2:03 you can see a security guard following them as they run down the street. The reason for this is they did not have a permit or permission to shoot at that location so they just hurried up and got the shot.
I remember hearing from the director’s commentary that scene where they’re running in front of the swimming statue, they actually couldn’t be there so that’s why they’re actually running lol
$5000???? that's peanuts. Even in the 80's inflation. Considering that the hotel is ritzes. Most of these places charge 500 a night, so just at 10 guests= 5000. 10 Guests! the place holds thousand.
Gogol ginn I still love the fact that in the video game, it references the first visit when Venkman says "Well you should have bought the extra ghost catching insurance!" right in front of the rookie XD
+Gogol ginn Think of it this way. You're the only service of your kind, so how do you go about putting a price on catching a ghost? For all you know, $5000 could've been overcharging. After all, they did make up the costs on the spot in that scene.
MoRiellyMoProblems No I'm talking about the manager who said "Hmmmph $5000, I never though it'd be so much".... If I was the manager I'd be like fine take it go.

I love the confidence that 80s movies could do montages, in 150 seconds they are able to so effectively tell a story that could span months or years, showing progress and development. But almost any movie in the past 20 years seems afraid to do a montage of any sort.
I don't care how old you are. The three of them running down the block at 2:02 to 2:10 you know they had to feel so freaking cool! Every kid wanted to be there with them at that moment.
So clever to bring in all the big names of the day and the magazine covers and yet somehow you are left with a hanging sense of doom as you see Winston enter the building and begin his interview. A portent of things to come.
I noticed each Ghostbuster has their preferred ghost detection device. Ray usually uses the Ecto-goggles though as we see, all of the founding three used it and helped design and build them along with the rest of the equipment. Egon usually isn't far from a PKE Meter though again, all four have used it and with Ray and Peter designed and built it in the first place. Peter uses the Ghost Sniffer as we see earlier as his preferred detection device though he's used all the other equipment and most likely had a hand in making it with Ray and Egon, though the technical side of Ghostbusting is not his forte. He can probably do basic maintenance and very basic repairs to the packs, neutrona wands and traps if he absolutely had to. The more sensitive stuff like the detection devices and Containment Unit he wisely leaves to Ray and Egon. Winston likes the aurasensor as we saw him use in Ghostbusters 2 and of course well versed in the use of the other equipment and likely equals Peter's skill in its maintenance and repairs: the basics Egon usually uses the PKE Meter th

@@ShadowSonic2 yes indeed and the dream ghost never spoke
1 of my top 5 childhood movies!!!
1:00. This is the full paragraph report the reporter here gives in the novelisation of Ghostbusters by Larry Milne:
“Thank you, Roger. Everybody’s heard ghost stories around the campfire. Heck, my grandma used to spin yarns about a spectral locomotive that used to rocket past the farm where she grew up. Now, as if some unseen authority had suddenly given permission, thousands of people are talking about encounters they claim to have had with ghosts”
R.I.P Larry King 1933-2021 He will be remember on Ghostbusters 🙏
The doorman's face between Egon and Peter while they are discussing the cost of the entrapment.
1:32.... RIP Larry King
A Casey Kasem cameo. "Zoinks! Like, the gost is really Old Man Witherspoon, Scoob!"
I wish Ghostbusters was an actual job, I'd love to have a job like this.
I know. Also, if that technology could exist in the 1980s, then why doesn’t it now lol.
Fun Fact: Both shots of the trio walking with the Atlantic magazine cover and of Venkman discussion no job and fee too big originally followed the first capture in the hotel.
ForceMaximus84 that was some simple but great editing to make it look like the boys were getting big
R.I.P. Larry King (1933-2021)
2:18 wait.. Casey Kasem as in the original voice of shaggy?
And Cliffjumper
"Is it just a mist or does it have arms and legs?" Hahahahaaaa... Love that line from Janine! ^^
Always remember them, bless those four men who gave us the best movie ever, also I think ray had what I like to call a "wet dream like a river flowing”
1:19 can someone do a bigger loop of that ecto1 siren?
This part always confused me for 1) the siren is faster and higher pitched and 2) the logo is reversed.
There’s already a video look up all ghostbusters sirens and it’ll be the ecto 1 with a green background
I can't believe it took me this long to notice Dana was restringing her cello.
I just figured it out now. I thought it was a completely random scene with a person we then never saw again.
I didn't realize that until now I'm wondering if it may have been cut from full screen versions on vhs
Easiest interview and job acceptance ever.
That cover for The Atlantic tho 😂
Egon looks like he's about to call that ghost a wise-guy and poke him in the eyes lol
"Ok dont look directly at the trap"
"I look at the trap ray"
They initially asked Eddie Murphy to play Winston, but he had already signed on to do BHC at that point. That’s the kind of deal where there are no losers. Not the studios, not the actors/ crews, not the fans. No one
Who else came here because of the sad Larry King news?
Me :(
Bill Murray is the actor who plays the character of Bill Murray in ghost busters and Zombieland
Happy 40 years!
Fun fact: they actually got chased out of Rockefeller Center because it was illegal for them to shoot there at the time they even said so in the commentary
Janine's "interview" makes me wonder how many previous job seekers took off after she asked those questions.
sonrouge Either that or she’s thinking, “This is all bullshit and we both know it”. Or she’s just dead tired.
None actually. In the “Ghostbusters: International” mini series comics, they were holding job interviews for some more help and Janine made a comment that the last time they did open interviews, it was just Winston who showed up.
@@leahryan5560 there's also the Ghostbusters game where you play the Rookie. and you got specifically hired to test all the prototype gear XD
2:15 - 2:20 Ridleys thinking like "I bet those wimps couldn't handle a Xenomorph"
I don't know, one full power stream from the Proton Pack would likely make short work of Xenomorphs, especially since ordinary firearms are also more than sufficient to take care of them
Ripley*
Also yeah the proton streams would definitely demolish a xenomorph. On top of that, the heat of the proton streams would likely instantly cauterize the wounds, preventing the acidic blood from spilling out
1:35 RIP Larry King 1933-2021, he made a special appearance in this montage! :D
never realized it until now...his appearance also foreshadows Walter Peck, if you think about King's report stating that critics think Ghostbusting is just a scam.
The Ghostbusters complained how heavy their protons were, but if you skip to @1:25, you clearly see Ray holding the proton pack with one hand.
A artist was died in 2014: Casey Kasem, He passed away June 15th, he had 82. He was the Countdown Radio Show host in the Montage.
I know. And he will be missed.
I’ve seen this movie a few dozen times and I never noticed Egon signaling to Venkman how much to charge. I was always watching Bill Murray.
Ghost Cops.
Ghost Stoppers.
Ghost Blasters.
They’re the only... Ghostbusters.
They're the best, They're the Beautiful! They're the ONLY.......Ghostbusters!
THEY'RE BACK! :D
RIP Harold Ramis, Ivan Reitman, Larry King, and Casey Kasem
$5000???? that's peanuts.
Gogol ginn well let's face it, he is a snooty manager who only relented when Ray said that he'd let Slimer back into the hotel again.
XTheVideoGamerGirlX What a El Cheapo.... Unbelievable right? like just 10 guests a night would have easily covered it for ONE NIGHT. the ritzy hotel probably hosted hundreds more since it is New York. lol... Ahhh good ol 80's yuppie attitude. PS I grew up in the 80's in an oil town.
Every goddamn line is pure gold
FACTS
8 years today rip harold ramis
I love the confidence that 80s movies could do montages, in 150 seconds they are able to so effectively tell a story that could span months or years, showing progress and development. But almost any movie in the past 20 years seems afraid to do a montage of any sort.
I wonder what’s the Fire masters reaction of The Ghostbusters giving them a run for their money.
Bill at the beginning secretly doing up the bill with Egon lol
They don't make 'em like this anymore.
No! They never made it like this!
R.I.P Harold Ramis and Ivan Reitman😥
I don't care how old you are. The three of them running down the block at 2:02 to 2:10 you know they had to feel so freaking cool! Every kid wanted to be there with them at that moment.
So clever to bring in all the big names of the day and the magazine covers and yet somehow you are left with a hanging sense of doom as you see Winston enter the building and begin his interview. A portent of things to come.
Bruh still one of my favorite films series the scene when the spectre unstraps stantz’s pants is hilarious as fuck as always
And it was all a dream. Or a wet dream in this case. Or I guess a wet nightmare would be best to describe it
On 1:12, I remember when I was hard, Ray parker Jr. Song from the into and here and end I fall in love to the song I happy to be a ghostbusters fan
Winston likes the aurasensor as we saw him use in Ghostbusters 2 and of course well versed in the use of the other equipment and likely equals Peter's skill in its maintenance and repairs: the basics
Egon usually uses the PKE Meter th
In the comics, Winston uses a small proton gun attached to his proton pack instead of the actual neutrona wand.
