  • If you're a mum or dad looking for a 5-seat prestige European SUV that's loaded with usable technology, then definitely check out the all-new 3rd Generation 2018 BMW X3.
We drive the xDrive30d M sport version and with 620Nm and 0-100km/h in 5.8 seconds, it certainly is "Fun and Family Friendly".
(Special Thanks to North Shore BMW of Chatswood for our test car)
    Car: 2018 BMW X3 M Sport xDrive 30d with 8-spd Auto (6-cyl turbo diesel with 195kW / 620Nm)

Great review. Small correction guys: the 30i is a 4 cylinder unit and not a 6.......

Hi Hans - thanks for your comments. Sorry, I'd forgotten that BMW is now putting the B48 4-cylinder engine into alot of their new models now! I miss the old days when the car's displacement equated to the badge on the boot! lol! Thanks for watching!

Nice review guys.... you guys do a great job explaining all the features in a very natural way unlike other car reviews which looks more of marketing than actual car review. Great car i love BMWs beautiful designed reliable cars with great customer support only problem spending 90k for 5 seater SUV is a bit difficult for me to go down my throat when i can get amazing cx5 akera for half the price with 90 percent of bmw x3 features. Cx5 will also cost me less than half to maintain. I think rest half of the price is for the premium brand BMW.

Guys another request u both have been amazing in taking my requests thanks a lot for that. Can u guys please review Peugot 3008 or 5008 GT OR GT LINE. I know peugot has a very bad reputation till date but these cars looks like have nailed the design and looks. Would love to see you guys review Peugot 3008 or 5008.

Uh so you are comparing Mazda's lacklustre engine in CX5 against BMW's well renowned silky smooth 6 cylinder diesel? CX5 is a good car in it's segment but there are many reasons why this car is 90k and CX5 is 50k.

Pity you guys don’t explain to potential buyers that unless they are doing regular highway driving they are likely to end up with very expense repair bills, typically running into the many thousands of dollars, to replace the diesel particle filter (DPF). And this problem can materialise very quickly. Most SUV’s spend their life doing short trips around the burbs. No good. Ask your local BMW service manager about this issue.

No spare...Cannot imagine it in South Africa on a family trip. And then there is the poor BMW reliability. Pity, because it drives really well.

    Nope, it’s a 6 cylinder 3.0 litre unit.

and they are not 20 inch but 19 inch wheels......

Hi Hans - that's interesting because the Australian spec M Sport package for the xDrive30d is meant to have the 20" double spoke style 699 M wheels as standard. You're right because when I looked again, this particular car has 19" wheels fitted to it....strange!

I have just ordered the car and in Europe the M-sport comes with those 19 inch wheels as standard. The 20 inch wheels are an optional extra (except on the M40i). Perhaps the spec is different in Oz......
      Thanks for the great review!

I was going to say the same about the wheels. And the 3D view can be controlled with gesture too ;) very useful feature to have!
