I had a DS Custom a couple of years ago. It was a gorgeous guitar. Had to move it on for health reasons.... I'm happy to say that I had one in my Musical Career!!!

Have been lucky to play a number of these beauties over the years - and they were ALL cannons! Magnificent works of craftsmanship.

Nothing like having your own handmade guitar! I play a Jerry Starr F100E.
Jerry was lead guitarist at one time for the Jones Boys, George Jones' band, but then he quit and started making premium guitars and other instruments in Albuquerque.

Quite a few machines used in the handmade process

There is a reason that all major manufacturers are using CNC type devices in their "handmaking" process - precision and the ability to replicate precision makes better guitars. Some areas are still handled better by hand, but others that require exactness better done by machines. I applaud H&D, Collings, Martin, Taylor who are currently making their best instruments ever because they know where machines do it better and where hands and human eye are best.

What? Three days of sanding isn't enough? lol

I want them to cut the trees down and saw the boards by hand. I want them to make the glue and melt down the steel to make the frets by hand as well. All without power tools and no electricity in the building for lights. No shortcuts.

Why use epoxy to attach the fretboard?

These guitars are really well crafted and ridiculously overpriced. When CNC machines are used to craft guitars, the price should go Down. Not up.

There is still a significant amount of handwork. The CNCs handle the larger cuts/jobs that are much more efficient and accurate than doing it by hand. There are almost no boutique builders that don’t use a CNC at some point in the process. A couple more things to consider are the quality of materials and tone woods that are used, and the fact that they are only a 4-6 person operation.

My Huss and Dalton is well worth the price. I've had several nice guitars. Martin, Taylor, McPherson, Tacoma ect... But the craftsmanship ,tone ,and playability of my Huss and Dalton is the best to me.

It's very hard to make it in the guitar building business because there are so many out there. It's not just Gibson and Martin anymore!
