Hospitality it's a cultural thing and it differs from a culture to another. In Islam, hospitality is the norm, even if a traveler totally a stranger knock on your door you should accept him and treat him generously for three days till he rests from his journey then you can ask him why he's here!! Even before Islam, generosity and hospitality were highly praised among Arabs for centuries... People who did visit a Muslim country would have certainly experienced this hospitality and generosity even from poor people.
