  • Betty Boop's Rise to Fame is a 1934 Fleischer Studios animated short film, starring Betty Boop.
In a live action sequence, a reporter interviewing Max Fleischer asks him about Betty Boop. Max obligingly draws Betty "out of the inkwell" and asks her to perform a couple of numbers. Song and dance numbers from Stopping the Show, Betty Boop's Bamboo Isle, and The Old Man of the Mountain are used. In the end, Betty jumps back into the inkwell, accidentally splashing ink into the reporter's face.
Directors: Dave Fleischer, Myron Waldman (uncredited)
Stars: Cab Calloway, Dave Fleischer, Max Fleischer

*Not If you knew that she's actually a black woman!*
She first appeared as a Black Woman in Popeye on shore leave.
She was then presented as a poor black woman until she got popular.
      This is what this about.
They changed her to a white woman. The same as they did "TOM and JERRY". Both was black before they became hits.
Both really being instant hits once revealed.

It's a compilation cartoon: segments from 3 cartoons, put together with a linking story. This method was used for the WB cartoons TV specials, which were then re-edited and shown as regular cartoons on the weekly "Bugs Bunny Show".

Even now, onstage costume changes are done behind a screen, or hidden by a crowd of other performers. Off-stage quick-changes take place behind a screen in the wings or upstage of the scenery. She wasn't. She was a french poodle first though. There was a black singer with similar style. But she was not the basis for Betty Boop at all. People just love to black wash her for some reason. It is like saying Arnold Schwarzenegger was the first He-Man or any popular blond actress was inspiration for Barbie becasue she was modelled after popular women at that time.
