This being a very early cartoon in the 1920s 1930s ...there's a 3D effect ....there's depth in the picture like 3D ....this was made 80+ years ago and how they created something that didn't catch on until recently is something
they used this thing were they hanged the animation cells and had a model made of different pieces moving at different speeds behind it so every time they changed the animation cells they would move the model a little bit to create a 3-d illusion

When I was in 2st grade my mom bought a 's with a lot of old cartoons in black and white and it had this on it.

Actually a lot cartoon animals are voiced by humans so it's not really strange.
My grandma who passed away in 2015 loved to watch Betty boop. So I decided to check it out and watch it after she passed

..i would still give credit to what appears to be the most badass dog to have ever lived for ripping a tree off the ground,headbutting through a wooden door and playing rugby with a fat butcher.
also,in reality,its the smaller dogs that are more aggressive..

Max Fleischer created the Stereoptical process, a device which allowed animation cels to be photographed against actual 3 dimensional background sets instead of the traditional paintings.
My father had this cartoon and others on 9.5mm film, so I grew up with Betty in the 1950s. I had to sell his collection about 25 years ago when the film projector became unrepairable. The nice thing about the cartoon was it had the original Paramount logo at the start and end. We also had Making Stars in its uncensored version too.

Try 1930s!
Not 50s it's 30s and the animation used to be really smooth that was the whole point it's called rubber hose animation and it used to be way smoother than animation now a days that's what it's famous for
To be completely accurate it was in the 1920s. In 1917, Max and Dave Fleischer patented the Rotoscope, which allowed animators to trace live-action motion in order to animate more smoothly. It was a game-changer for animation. You can read about on our website, FleischerStudios.com - and specifically: www.fleischerstudios.com/rotoscope.html. Also, Max Fleischer's son, Richard Fleischer, wrote about it in his biography of Max: Out of the Inkwell: Max Fleischer and the Animation Revolution.
Rather than "smooth" the correct term would be "fluid" but YES it is just so so satisfying to watch!! 😍

I never really liked Betty Boop, but I've always ADORED her dog.
Also, the part with the meat dude made me laugh hard. He doesn't want his meat taken, and yet he still throws ALL of it at the dog.

The animation in this episode was surprisingly very smooth for being so old, but that may be because they used rotoscoping

2:05 “ I didn’t choose the thug life, the thug life chose me.” This puppy is actually accurate to most children. For this being a verrryyyyyy long time ago it has many good factors some even better than the modern stuff. Well everything IS better than modern cartoons.
The moral of this cartoon is don't try to be someone you're not, because it would get u into a lot of trouble, and always be yourself too. 😌

I remember watching this off of a VHS tape when I was a boy. Over and over again. That was over 21 years ago and the song has stuck with me ever since. Insane this is from '36!

interesting how some of these cartoons mixed in real films sequences with the animation. Some of Grampys cartoons were like that too, especially the one about the orphan home at xmas.

I remember seeing all these cartoons when I was a youngster, and boy do they bring me back some good memories. It's funny as time goes by...I'm seventy seven ....but I'm fifteen at heart.....and I will never forget the childhood and my growing up years,....they were great days and time thanks To God.......
