You probably figured it out by now but I think you probably have to replace the dried crispy fuel lines, Probably sucking air.And also put a wagon behind it and the boy can drive it around and pick up a lot of rocks out of the garden, and sticks from the yard, that will make him a good tractor.

❤very impressive how patiently you work on this mower and teach Jacob. Too many Dads don’t take the time to teach their children. Jacob is going to be a fine young man like his Daddy.

A follow up on the engine surging would be good.
Your son is at a good age. He's like a sponge and will retain knowledge like this for the rest of his life .
    Good job dad!

Thank you so much for this. My daddy and I rebuilt the engine and transmission in a 1965 Ford Mustang for my high school graduation present in 1980. He was as patient and knowledgeable as you when teaching us kids how to do things. He passed away 5 years ago and I miss him terribly but you reminded me that he is still here in so many ways.

Great video Andy, you all worked together quite well and everyone learned from their experience. Necessity is the main reason for learning everything you can about repairing what you have to work with. Bartering is something you can do with friends to share knowledge and labors of friendship. I use to be able to trade my skills with farmers and spent lots of time in the fields after dark working to repair equipment so they could get their farming and ranching done and it was friendship done and low and behold when harvesting was over I found lots of their produce as their gesture of friendship. Keep teaching those young ones and they too will do well. You all are so blessed. Fred.

Good video. I wanted to give you a tip. I've cut off those fuel solenoid tips. Or grind em off flush. And it will run just fine. I've done a bunch of em. You probably already know, you can creep the choke on and might smooth it out?

You're right my dad taught me how to do stuff he wouldn't fix it he made me get in there and do it I went from minibike to motorbikes to cars and trucks then I used that as a backup job and a slide job fix people's cars for money then when the Paven business shut down here I went to work at an auto wreckers for 9 years became shop foreman then I got heard on the job they gave me a so called bogus re training course to be parts person I didn't feel that I was trained enough to take on a good job at a big Dodge dealer that they wanted me to ended up by myself a coffee shop if that for 4 years till it went broke hard as Joe ever had was the coffee house specialty but I had fun lost $100,000 isn't it but still had fun had to deal with people which I never used to people used to call me a hermit now I'm back to being a hermit don't like dealing with the public too many drunks and druggies out there

Older the car the better the engine the better once you get into the computers and stuff they're made to make it take them into mechanics and pay 150 an hour to get them fixed I had to kept my old 77 Chevy 4 by 4 then I rebuilt and did a transmission change over to the standard what a mistake of getting rid of that truck got rid of it in 19 99 when I got 10 decided to sit in my arms I was having problems shifting didn't want to change your vacuum automatic because I couldn't wrench anymore haven't wrenched ever since because you can't control your fingers cause it hurts too much when you get into tight spots that's what happens when you pull wrenches for too many years and you bump your funny bone it's not so funny that mine never ever went away in my right arm wCB forced me back to work specialist told me never to go back to work and use that arm and it was in my left arm within six months so now I don't wrench anymore it was a very good mechanic Rebuilt my first engine in grade 5 at school it was a Briggs and Strachan for my mini bike my dad built me No matter how much the new engines save you in gas it's never gonna pay you your mechanical bills that you have to get when you have to take them in to get them fixed Those are called torx bits Screws
