No faff, just straight to the point review, concentrating on what people really want to know instead of miniscule nonsense that people are not interested in on a daily basis running a car. Ta.
I've had mine for 4 months now. Great car and 64.8mpg over 3000 miles. Quick and quiet and lovely to drive. Software? Certainly very quirky. Be patient!!
still waiting for mine to get delivered, they said it could take 2 months, its been a month so lot long now. i could of got it in a silver a few weeks ago but wasn't a fan so i'm keeping with the same grey as show in this video
How does the MG3 Hybrid perform on a long downhill stretch, with the battery at 100% charge? Some say it goes into neutral, has no "engine brake" and therefore you are forced to keep your foot on the brake, with all that that entails. This is not a safe way to tackle a long downhill stretch of road.
@@aucuninteretpourunnomsilong perfect thanks it's interesting because you have an app to turn the a/c system on or off from your phone so thought there could be a heat pump
@@aucuninteretpourunnomsilong ahh I didn't realise a/c is only electric. I'll switch it to heat and see if it kicks the engine in. It will be also interesting to see if the heated steering wheel and seats use the petrol engine as well. Also interesting to see if there's any significant drop in mpg
I bought one in the middle of May. It's been back at the dealership for repair for the last THREE WEEKS. After about two thousand miles, a fault developed: the car would sometimes fail to get back into gear after coasting, and effectively stay in neutral until you come to a complete stop. To cap it off - they've failed to provide any kind of courtesy car
@@gazzrobb2366 no, it's a hybrid, the only control over the drivetrain is the Park-Reverse-Neutral-Drive selector. I'm talking about when you take your foot off the accelerator pedal, even if just for a moment, before accelerating again or braking. _I_ don't put the drivetrain into neutral - the hybrid drivetrain does that by itself. deciding whether to use the petrol motor or the electric motor and how to configure the gearbox to make it happen is 100% decided by the car.
A very good video, A great car let down by the awful buggy software which is a major flaw, not enough control of functions on the road, and a cow to set up properly even MG staff struggle with it when it's parked, this will cause accidents I feel, and there is almost zero help to sort it out, there is a PDF manual but wading through treacle is easier, acronyms all over the place, it even has one on the dash but it is tiny to read, and the search hardly brings up the stuff you need. We need someone who actually knows it well to do and in depth long video on setting up the software, to go through all of it at an easy pace not flashing about so you see nothing like the Jerry Pan ones.
Probably best for folks like you to stay off the road and keep on using the bus 😂. Most of the menu systems on modern cars are similar to modern smart phones. Do you own a Nokia 3210 as well ? 😂😂
Does the ice engine have a cam belt or cam chain? If you have a memory stick with music. Will it play the music through the radio if you plug the memory stick into one of the USB ports? As you know the only way to work out true MPG is to do a brim to brim. The computer read out is never accurate on any car. Autocar magazine road test gave the overall MPG figure at 48 MPG. Who on earth came up with the bright idea of putting the 12 volt battery in the spare wheel well? Surely the battery could have been fitted to the right of the boot as in the Classic Mini with the boot carpet cut to size around the battery. Then the well could be used for a spare. Perhaps a good mechanic could convert that? My last moan is why is the car not offered in Orange like the MG4? That is the colour i would want if i bought the car. Perhaps Orange will be available at a later date as i know a split folding rear seat back will be available shortly.
Any Questions Let me know!

Great review. Gonna check out today.

I liek the tone of your review ,c ant wait to receive my mg3 in 3 weeks
hows your MG3?
@ I am really happy with it but this car cannot climb mountains, one the battery run out there is no speed at all
@@superdespefr so its not recommended for mountain driving then? How about for city driving?
@ city driving is amazing the car is on EV mode 1/3 of the time and the handling is very smooth

How can it turn the air con on when it doesn’t have a large battery?
Nice review interesting car
Thanks! 👍

What does the video option do in the infotainment system?
Also does the heating us a heat pump or standard heating system?
Heating pump is useful for EV, on MG3 you got a petrol engine so it's a normal heating system like other cars
@@aucuninteretpourunnomsilong perfect thanks it's interesting because you have an app to turn the a/c system on or off from your phone so thought there could be a heat pump
@@koreya4015oh that, you could turn AC on by phone caz it’s electric but I don’t think that works for heater, which you need to run the engine…

@@koreya4015 Wheel and seats are electric. In winter the engine will run more to keep the heat coming. So the will be a slight increase in consumption

Don’t think you should be putting it in neutral to coast

the car is waiting for the third or fourth set of spare parts to arrive. MG eventually provided a courtesy car.
@@gazzrobb2366This sounds like driver error. Maybe MG should provide driver training also 😂😂

Would you know….if using the heater in the winter , will it mean the engine running to create heat or electricity style EV heater…?
The heater is powered by a standard car battery as with every car (mostly)
It's powered by the engine coolant, not standard battery. This means a slight increase in consumption in winter.
3 gears??? What about the planetary gearbox?
Insurance is quite expensive on MG3
Well it would be if it has nearly 200bhp
