- Опубліковано 27 лип 2024
- Stacking is a very easy and simple technique you can do with any camera, including a phone, that all photographers should know about and have in their arsenal.
Today I take you through how to use it to massively reduce noise, create beautiful long exposures and remove intrusive people.

Awesome video David. Thanks for the insights on Affinity. Had been holding of on it. Will give it a try for sure. Cheers!!!!
This video should have 1 million views!
This is great, THANK YOU!!!
Thanks for the tutorial David!
My pleasure! Hope it was helpful!
Great video with quality information as always Dave 👏👏👏
Thanks guys!
Wow this is a impressive how much stacking removes most of the noise reduction, loved the trick for removing people too :)
Wow thank you for explaining this in such an easy way.
Glad it was easy to follow!
Excellent video David! Very well explained.
Thanks Andreas!
Hi David
Love how you deliver your content, and your pace too. It is smooth, unrushed, and clear. Something about the way you deliver that is soothing to listen to without panic attacks (some content creator goes rapid fire, some so slow that becomes a bore)
May I ask if you have recommendation on similar image stacking alternatives using mobile apps?
Thanks! Yeah 2 iPhone apps will average frames automatically and produce a final DNG result for you. They are: Even Longer (subscription) and ReeXpose. I have reviews on both.
Great knowledge share of Snapseed, particularly sharing your tacit knowledge
Could you try the lightroom app doing light trails handheld and in raw?
Wow! Impressive. But now I'll have to plan when to use it!!!
Anytime noise is an issue would be a great start
David, you tought me 2 things today. 1. A great use of stacking. 2. An unexpected surprise.I use ProCamera and never realized the "Timer" had the Intervalometer function (long press on the timer button). I always learn a great deal form you and I want to thank you very much.
Glad I could be of help Nicholas! That's why I make these videos.
Hi David, which camera app did you use for this? thx!
Excellent thank you . Is Pro Camera your camera of choice ? Could you do a tutorial on it please or have you done that . Could you do a video ‘review ‘ of the camera apps you use
As an aside …I have the iPhone 13pro . I am often very disappointed with the colour rendition and lack of control of it . For example it is impossible to switch off smart HDR , scene detection and so on . It is worst when people are in the shot …looks very artificial .
Great video 👍. Very informative 👍👍
Thanks Scott! Enjoyed your live stream with Shayne yesterday 👍
@@David_Addison Excellent! Glad you tuned in :)
Hi David, just wanted to know if you could do the noise reduction or even the faux long exposure in an iOS app? Many thanks for your detailed videos. Always nice to see others as obsessive about the details and technique
I’m still searching for this as well
Great video
You said you use reeflex pro camera to capture the burst images.
I download the reeflex app for iphone, but the app does not look the same.
there is no option for the number of burst ?
What is the app in the video above ?
Thanks
Good stuff David. Extra techniques for the arsenal. When using your phone for big number shoots like this, what is your workflow for getting them into your computer? Do you switch off photo sync to cloud as a norm when out to avoid massive auto uploading? My method at the moment to send IPhone captures into Lightroom library works but is definitely clunky!
Thanks Steve! My photos auto-import into Lightroom on the phone, then I wait for them to sync to Lightroom on my Mac. All over WiFi when I get home.
@@David_Addison Thanks. I do similar and have mobile sync switched off for both iphone and Lightroom mobile in such circumstances, if i remember but its all such a faff! I could just use the Lightroom cam of course but then I’d miss out on the other apps.
Very good video.
Thank you very much Petrica!
@@David_Addison, you're welcome!
incredible.. still don't have photoshop, but Affinity on iPad... need to try :)
Thanks Armin! Let me know if you can stack in Affinity for iPad.
@@David_Addison works fantastic, had to charge my iPad first. never use it hahaha. bit soft, but man, the noise is gone :)
question is how can you do this when you take pictures with friends or give phone to friend to take pic of me.
Can you look at this video please: Do I really need Pixel Shift?
What app are you using when you reducing the tone mapping?
Did you mean to comment this on my ProRAW vs RAW video? It's Lightroom but you can do it in Darkroom and RAW Power as well.
Is there any way of stacking on the phone or any app capable of doing it to do it on the go without computer?
No stacking apps I'm aware of. I think it'd require way too much processing power anyway.
Not aware of any on the phone platform but Affinity Photo is available for iPad & it has all the functionality of to desktop version.
You speak english so good!
Da vorbesc Engleză foarte bine! 😆
Which mac is that u are using?
It’s an M1 MacBook Pro with 16GB of RAM
@@David_Addison WOW 😮
I did not expected it to freeze 🥶
@@SnowWhitee Adobe software is notoriously slow, notice how much faster Affinity was?
I prefer Affinity over PS.
lol... it's not the 'median average'.... median and average are two different things. Average is probably not that useful for anything, just stick to the median as it takes care of outliers much better - same as with disturbances like people or strong wind gusts.
I wished that there was a better iPhone app than 'even longer'. The interface and amounts of settings are not great there.
I’m going to continue using the colloquialism ‘median average’
