With inspiration, even in a scenario like this you've made gorgeous pictures! greetings from Brazil!
Thank you, José!
let's be honest, these were great locations and with a great quality ambient light, you have no idea of what an ugly location is, then change the model to an unpleasing subject and it's all getting less interesting
I love that you are using higher ISO's to get these awesome shots! Almost everyone says keep them low 100-200. That might be technically better but for someone without a camera crew and lots of flashes it's not realistic. Thank you for this video! Great information!
Juliet is a fun fest of a model to work with, at least from what I can see here. She doesn't act all moody, difficult and in need of being pampered by the photographer; when so many are. I don't work with models, but I would make a exception and try this kind of photography is I had a model with her energy, beauty, charm and talent. Great video... actually quite enjoyable as well as informative.
we beginners are waiting for short tutorials video's like this on UA-cam. ..
& you have nailed itt... Each pic in this video so impressivel sir, & that short & sweet explanation behind every captured pic was the best part...
I love this! It is perfect for finding the best locations in just your neighborhood. I can't choose which one so I think I will try them all! I thank you for being so clear in the guidance!
Thank you for putting this together, it was awesome. I'm looking forward to checking out the rest of your videos.
the liveliness of this photographer made me subscribe..
thank you Sting!!!
"Roxanne, you don't have to put on the red light...."
god damn it. LMAO! 😂😂😂😂
I was thinking the exact same - he's so like the 'older Sting', except he's actually younger, I'm pretty sure.
Yeah. And Liv Tyler.
Outstanding, Jordan & Juliet, thanks for posting!!!
Great inspirational tips. I was out & about today’s and was running out of ideas. When I see videos like this I say to myself - how simple is that and ‘why didn’t I think of that!’ You are a great photographer Jordan. Juliet is a lovely model too!
Surprised you also blew out the focus on the rock wall. Sometimes seeing a little more of the background is a good thing. The car shot I found weird, but the doorway was very nice. Great video for beginners to explore their surroundings!
When he blurred the cars out was great, though. I loved that shot.

WOWWWW......great... you inspired me to shoot my music video in such locations..... I was worried for the location .... really... and your photography is amazing...very nice...thanks a lot
I like the videos Jordan They are fun quick entertaining and certainly informative. have all the lens just need to get out there and shoot. and be creative with my 50 and 85 mm I seem to stick with the 24-120
Just walking around she of course looks nice but my lord Juliet shoots great!!!
Great video with very useful tips, thanks. Also it's good demo that professional grade Nikon camera are noise free at high ISO 1600 - 2500 :) It will be too noisy for many entry level / older DSLR (or mirrorless camera) of any brand, so settings should be different (ISO down / exposure time longer).
Thank you, Aram!
I use a Nikon crop sensor camera and I don't get noise even at ISO 3200
Great video. The presenter used to be the lead singer in a band called Police.
Helpful tips
Perfect and (και) Τέλειο!!!!!
He was talking about the best areas where to shoot. Not about the lense and the camera he used so I appreciate the video. I was so amazed with the ISO he used that was damn high and will probably give me a noise party hahaha! His camera and lense is awesome
Great tips
I just saw this video, very nice tips, thanks for sharing. I’m wondering if you ever had to do a shoot with 1 speed flash at night in the rain? I just did one and it feels like I only got snap shots.
Didn't know Sting was teaching photography ! Great vid by the way.
I didnt know sting was in photography now... ahah. Cool tips. Didnt know about open dorrway
Nice video!
awesome video. you got a new subscriber. Also what in camera metering mode did you use for your photos? thank you.
Tankyu Jordan Masters. U Arg the vest
Thank you!
I love this guy spirit he is amazing artist
Jordan. More great ideas. Thanks again. How did you get the light on your models face at 3:18. I can't see a reflector for example :-/
You are great guy
Step 1: Buy the Nikon 200mm f2
Step 2: No background, no problem
Anyways people, you can get extremely similar result with a Nikon 135 f2.8 Ai, if you don't wanna spend much (it's 180$, but its manual focus. Still t's a cheap way to start experimenting)
The tips on the door lighting are amazing tho, and I use it all the time. There are so many "natural softboxes" everywhere, people just gotta find them.
the door portrait is a must try for me
so awesome omg .. did u use Photoshop after u shot this pix?
@Jordan when you said "expose for the face of your subject", do you mean using the AF points to auto focus on the face or choosing a meter mode on the face of the model?
Shutterbug Please make detailed tutorial on ISO,F Stop & ISO, for 5mm f1.8 and 55-200mm lens
what sought of combination are best and how to understand them
Awesome
Sir what mode you used for this? It’s a manual mode? Or aperture mode? And please what would you recommend mode to use as a beginner photographer like me? Thanks for those who answer me
just one qstn
how to become a great club photographer ?
i love your work
Nicely done Jordan! :) Perhaps the role of an assistant for the budding photographer? I have a pair of lovely family members (wife and daughter) that help out on shoots but they have contrasting styles....any thoughts on an assistant's roles could be a fun video :) Thanks again for the videos :) Cheers from beautiful Victoria British Columbia :)
They can holding up a reflector to illuminate your subject.
awesome
Jordan, Do you have a LUT file that you can share? Particularly the one that you used for the pics that you used in this video.
4:25 noooooooooooo!!!
4:33 yeeeeeeeeeeees!!!
Nice video , just an observation a beginner photographer ... will likely have a 18-55 kit lens, not a 200 f2.8 , just saying
Sure, but nowadays renting stuff is fairly cheap and really easy. You can always rent to try stuff out, then as you get more gigs you have goal to save for. I rent lenses for vacations all the time to try them out. After one last year I purchased a 16mm-300mm, but I had used one on vacation for over 10 days prior to that. Rent or borrow is always a good idea!
If you have a standard kit lens keep your lens zoomed out to 55mm (or what ever the longest focal length available is) and make sure your aperture is at its lowest possible f stop which on a kit lens zoomed out will be 5.6 and then get as close to your subject as possible and keep your background as far as possible. That will get you good portraits with separation and background blur "bokeh". If you are just starting and don't have a ton of money to spend a nifty fifty should be your first lens they are cheap, good image quality, versatile, and the have a very fast aperture of 1.8 which gets you ton of bokeh (blur) both Canon and Nikon sell them for $120 and with Nikon you can buy the newer af-s 50mm 1.8 for $200.
Part of the skills lays in the toolbox you have... right.
Way bigger part is in the way you USE those tools from the box.
For you don't give a damn about which references of brushes and paints Matisse or van Gogh would use... 95% of what we see from them comes from their skills, and how they've put them into practice.
To hell with gear ! I've never seen a camera shooting photographs on its own... humans do that. Never forget it.
Qué lindos timbres de la modelo :)
Cool video
Good tricks! Good video! It's a good idea to limit yourself in space so that there is not even a thought of beautiful views. The photographer can do more when he starts to think :-) In Russian cities we do not have many beautiful places.
вот так вот взял и родину обосрал
