Saying "Africans were viewed as a threat" is really vague, because it doesn't specify who viewed them in that manner. If it's true that African people were routinely looked at with fear by different cultures, I imagine it would be for the same reason that the civilized world were wary of peoples originating from the central Asian steppe: tribes that would occasionally pour out from the edges of civilization to plunder sedentary societies, usually with great success.

No one has the right to claim our heritage for any reason, we are Egyptians there's no nationality called African, and there's no programming features for being in one continent, people saying that ancient Egyptians were black just because Egypt is in Africa should try and say the same thing about Asia, what if we say that all Asians are yellow think about it and you will realise how stupid these claims are even European aren't all alike. For the wide majority of European history, Africa was viewed as just a far off place that was mostly unreachable to the wide majority of Europeans. Especially Southern Africa. It was politically irrelevant to most things going on in Europe until roughly the 14-1500’s when west African kingdoms who trafficked in slavery, started heavily selling to European powers. Eventually, over time, this kind of snowballed into the triangular trade during the age of imperialism.
Then after centuries of slave trading when Africa was substantially weaker; Europe carved up Africa an a scramble for colonies and resources. After WW2 these colonies became their own independent nations which have gone down various roads of governance. Guess native Africans have mostly posed zero threat towards other continents, because there were non-native-african islamic civilizations like the Arabs and Ottomans who served as a large buffer zone, so they would instead have been the civilizations capable of causing a threat to others located near the intersection between the continents.
A threat to who? The more advanced cultures of Europe? Not. The more advanced cultures of the Middle East? Not. Tell me how anyone felt threatened by half naked stone age people with spears.
I love when imbeciles contradict themselves, "Stone age" and spears are not synonymous; spears are made with a metal tip and a wooden handle, that would require 1. knowledge of constructing mines to find metal. 2. Constructing furnaces to actually smelt and mend said metal 3. making weapons (presumably out of metals) to cut down trees and harvest the wood to make the handle. All of which is not a technology of the stone age, unless you're willing to admit the spear wielding Romans used stone age weapons. Secondly most Africans weren't naked, it's literally a few remote tribes that were, similarly to the half naked tribes of Europe; and it's more of a testament to their remote-ness that anything else, Several African kingdoms and empires sold and traded textiles with Europe, Asia and the Middle east. You literally see the world through a stereotype fed to you,and you repeat said stereotype as fact, a testament to ur lack of intelligence
Lets not state the obvious, every culture on earth had books, libraries, statues, temples.... You had a population with nothing sitting on a pile of gold which repeatedly got exploited and even by each other. Don't even babble on Egypt, they were not Africans.
At that time, Kemet had the most powerful army in the world, had the most resources and was at the forefront of technological innovation. It was the equivalent of a superpower today. The pharaohs ruled until the Middle East. The Semitic peoples migrated to Black Egypt, to escape famine and precariousness. They became envious of Egypt's wealth. After being trained in Kemet, they went back to their homeland, to form coalitions to attack Kemet. Over the course of several centuries of conflict, Kemet found itself under attack by several other countries. Black Egypt finally gave in to these attacks.
And that's the the way it happened. Over centuries. And don't forget mansa musa giving away gold so much that it depressed economy's and it took a decade of recovery.europeans know where the gold is now.

I believe the answers are a little more basic and a little less academic. People fear and hate what the don't understand. Africans were different.... Very dark skin, relatively bigger and sturdier than most races and living relatively harmoniously in an environment that was regarded as largely harsh by most standards..with a culture that was, and still is, baffling. In theory maybe. But never have Africans tried to colonize beyond their land, they never felt the need. Rarely were encounters with non Africans violent. We're wired differently. In many of our cultures a foreigner is welcome not feared, hence our weakness.

@@sadraolaedo4733 I never said we lived in harmony. I just said we never felt the need to invade beyond our lands. Of course there were wars on a local level, that's a given. Absolutely no evidence from thousands of civilizations over the past 6,000 years of written history has seen “Africans” as a threat. Because there’s no such thing as a African people. That’s a Eurocentric idea from the 1700’s. 3. Why is the art using a Ivory Coast ethnic man wearing a mid Egyptian empire attire? These two areas are a thousand miles apart and did not make contact until the end of the Egyptian empire when they enslaved the Ivory Coast people.
Africa doesn’t have much of a military record though. North Africa has always been dominated by the Middle East and Europe. Going all the way back to the Romans.

The "creator of life" did not chose Africans (or black people in general) as the original humans. Black people are the creators currently in self-forgetfulness, a state in which they have been for the past 6000 years to experience what is currently known as "evil." Better called to those who held secret knowledge of your earth "self-forgetfulness." The reason it seems the world is going left and many blacks are now asking questions (though still a large wave of confusion and misinformation) is because we have entered the end of the 7000 years cycle of evil which was ordained by the very black people before they depreciated themselves into the current state many see and assume about them and their society (12 tribes of Yesra'el). high time black people start finding truth of who they are. Knowledge will only be given to you based on your level of vibration and consciousness. Sure you have hard the statement "black people please REMEMBER." Or "black people Wake-up."
Africa in antiquity were of nations that viewed themselves as insular and resources rich. It never had the need to go off the continent to take a foreigner's land. Humans are like that, life is like that, it ain't right but it is what it is sadly.
It's not that Africans were viewed as a threat. Anyone who had as much resources as them were viewed as a threat. Just look at the Mongolians no one liked them because they were so powerful look at the Romans, Greeks, Egyptians and ETC all of those were viewed as a threat. the only reason why people think its specifically to Africans is because we they had such successful civilizations; we study them a lot so we see the tragedies that happened to them and think "Oh because there were so outsides conflicts that happened to Africans it must mean they were targeted" Which that is a lie history was tough for everyone not just Africans.
The reason their is no conclusion as to “why” is because Africans were never viewed as a “threat.” They were viewed as a means of exploitation by some, and a means of fiscal trade relation by others. The U.S. began attempting trade relations with Africa within two years of becoming a country. European people did not have an immediate “fear” of Africans, they had a healthy level of respect for the Kingdoms of Africa. Same with the African Kingdoms to the European ones. That is real history.
The problem for Africa has been harsh geography. It has very little hospitable land outside of the northern coast, the horn, the southern coast, the Sahel, and the Nile river. African states have mostly traded resources and collapsed for one reason or another.
A valid point- however, this is a short video meant to be a snap shot into this issue, and likely part of a longer video.

Eventually, over time, this kind of snowballed into the triangular trade during the age of imperialism.

A threat to who? The more advanced cultures of Europe? Not. The more advanced cultures of the Middle East? Not. Tell me how anyone felt threatened by half naked stone age people with spears.
I love when imbeciles contradict themselves, "Stone age" and spears are not synonymous; spears are made with a metal tip and a wooden handle, that would require
1. knowledge of constructing mines to find metal.
2. Constructing furnaces to actually smelt and mend said metal
3. making weapons (presumably out of metals) to cut down trees and harvest the wood to make the handle.
All of which is not a technology of the stone age, unless you're willing to admit the spear wielding Romans used stone age weapons.
