This is the best all time classic snelled knot. I have been tying this snelled knot for the past 30 yrs. There are different variations of snelled knot showcase on UA-cam but by far this is the best.
I learnt it off a Greek ex sailor when I was 10. It's amazing that if you don't have any other knots in the line I found it's just as likely to break anywhere and not necessarily at the knot.
I been fishing for over 20 years and I always use that knot but never saw someone around use it the same I do I’ve seen many ways differently though but not the way I do it till I saw this awesome great knot guys recommended 💯👌🏼
That sounds like a lot of work just to catch a catfish. As a teenager, I was just simply tie a hook on with whatever knot i knew, put a weight to get my bait to the bottom and wait. Worked for me
Not sure if you’ll see this but I have a question , why use a mono leader instead of just using 30 lbs mono on the whole reel. Does it make a big difference? Thanks
You should try the no-knot snell. It's a way to snell that is stupid simple and takes about 5 seconds. You have to tie it before you tie the leader to the swivel though
another way of tying this which in my opinion easier is just take the line through front to back of the eye then wrap the long end of your line 8 9 or 10 times around the hook then take the long end and put it through the back to front of the eye and pull tight
Go through the eye and back through the eye like you came form a loop about 1/3 or little over the length of your hook, wrap it 10 times and stick your string through the eye of what's left of your loop pull string from reel end only and it tighens and pulls the wraps tight itself.

It's a lot like a Carolina rig, but that peg float got the gears a turning in my ole noggin on different ways to fish this. That peg float can be used in so many different ways to catch so many different kinds of fish and get the fish biting. Great video, brother.

From nc too, this works well in lake Norman for huge catfish

The knotless knot is easier to tie for Snelling up a hook
Yeah,but is it stronger?

It's called The Santi (sand - tee) Rig. Works great on sandy and smooth lake or river bottoms.
Hey my man, will a circle hook work as well, and what hook are you using?
Thx.
Yes, circle hooks work well for Catfish. I like eagle claw trokar.

@vivimu 😱

Cause you can’t add a weight without leader so just put a swivel and a weight then the hook at the end of the leader
Not really but braid is stronger, doesn’t stretch and you can pack more on your reel
Ive always used a uni but I need a re-tie and am goung to try this one. Always good to have ab arsenal of knots.

ALWAYS wet the knot before tightening!

What’s the barrel swivel do or what is it for ? Novice fisherman trying to learn
Keeps the weight at a certain distance from the hook, and prevents line twist since chunk bait and flutter around in current.
What bait is light enough so it doesnt just sink the in line float? Which heavy bait should i avoid?
With a 3" float, you can use a decent size chunk of cut bait.
Chicken liver

In a good spot, you should get them on this rig. Chunk bait using whatever local bait fish you have is best.

Can I ask why exactly a 3 inch peg float? I usually fish in medium to high current and try to use 3 Oz no roll sinkers.
This rig has a sinker and a float. The float makes the bait hover off the bottom a few inches.
I think I seen some guys using that rig on Santee Cooper.
What size hook is the best for catfish? I’m new to fishing
Depends what species. Anything bigger than a channel cat and a 5/0 or bigger is good.
I prefer the knotless knot. I’ve never had a catfish break me off and it’s easier
It definitely is easier. I haven't had a problem with a knotkess knot, but many claim they have had one come loose.

Here we have alot of trees and rocks on the bottom. Mono leaders are a necessity as braid has poor abrasion resistance.
