I used to play the heck out of archon mode with my friends back when it was popular it was so fun we'd divide the macro and micro but it would definitely get chaotic very fast lol
Archon mode is so cool. More pros should play this. More tournaments should be held in this mode. More replays should be casted (of good games, where the team works well together)

Talking about pros playing arcade games reminded me of that time I ran into Reynor on a random Marine Arena lobby. The hardcore Marine Arena players in the lobby didn't know who he was and got very upset with their teammates when Reynor singlehandedly wiped the floor with them. Thankfully I was on his team and just gave him moral support.
Does anyone else think lowko single handedly carries the sc2 public relations? like i played this game when it came out and made it near the top of silver league then dropped the game. Lowko made this game fun to watch and through that made it fun to try again. Thanks for being awesome Lowko!
Yeees I tried to watch official tournament comentators but they're just not as interesting as lowko's. It's like watching a golf vs football comentator. maybe not that bad haha
@@filipbitala2624 there was a 4v4 archon mode before and harstem was given a viking to control. and he used it to kill the critters around the map. They were up against I think Serral, Reynor, forgot who the other two. But the zerg side suck ass in coordination and lots. Lol.

they had 'team melee' in sc1, which was really fun, but when sc2 came out it didn't have the corresponding game, eventually they came out with 'archon mode' but I was hoping for more 'team games'
I played StarCraft on and off through the release of HOTS and LOTV(my PC wasn’t good enough at the time to run WOL). I tried to queue up for archon mode a many times over the years with some friends of mine. I remember playing one or two games but otherwise it just about never worked out. We could almost never find anyone to play. Eventually we just gave up and ended up doing 2V2 instead since the queue was 30xshorter at least
archon mode was one of my first experiences playing 1v1 (vs ai) love playing it in customs with friends- feels so nice to be able to split the tasks for me to just disruptor drop all day or spread a crap ton of creep

I think (but it's a very old memory, so I may be wrong about it) that the plural for protos is not protoses (as English would have it), but protòi (as Ancient Greek would have it).
About arcade game mode : It's exactly like Source based game (tf2/csgo) You play all day on the "normal" mode, and then when you get bored you can literally play a board game, a ball game, a full scale RPG, a tower defense game, a civ-like game, zombie modes, base-game completely rebalanced ... I've spent so much of my days on all those ! The only limit is what the engine is capable of and what people are willing to do with it.
No not at all. Archon mode is like SC "team melee". You're describing "use map settings" in SC, which equates "custom map" in SC2. I too spent a lot of time on "use map settings" games, still have a folder of just over a thousand map files.
I'm a fairly new player to the game - started just 2 months ago (sad I didn't try it out earlier when it was more popular), but I didn't really know what Archon was until you explained it lol. I just knew it as the statistically least played game mode and that people only cared about 1v1s, which is what I tried and got into as well. I did always think about how cool it'd be if multiple people could play as one team, but I guess it was always a thing that I just missed over. I don't know if StarCraft II will ever be as popular as it once was (especially with all the hot water that Blizzard is in), but hopefully some company out there (looking at Riot Games 👀) decided to make an easy-to-learn hard-to-master RTS someday, that there'll be a resurgence in popularity of this genre of games and possibly even Archon modes.
The dev team of sc2 that no longer work at blizzard cuz rts don't make money work at a new studio and the studio that made frostpunk now, both studios are working on an rts akin to what sc3 might have looked like so there is hope for sure
Lowko, i’m sorry if this is a sin but I typically only watched winter for a while since I enjoyed his visuals alot but if you can bring me more professional archon I would 100% be a regular visitor/viewer of your channel
Neat little tidbit, archon mode isn't an SC2 original mode. Back in SC1 we had team FFA which allowed for the exact same thing with a cool twist... Each player on the team could be a different race and the starting main center was based off of team leader but the gatherers were divided by the selected races.

I don't know if that's actually still the case but I was watching a Clem stream not too long ago where whenever he'd play against P, he wouldn't make a reaper. It did appear to be something rather recent though as he did autopilot a few times and build a reaper. Maybe the top dogs discovered something or maybe it's just the Frenchman who's trying something new but perhaps the meta is changing..
My friend and I played an Archon games a few times, he delt with combat and some production, while I was in charge of the resource collection and most of the unit production, I just built whatever he said he needed.
I would love to see the other Archon mode games. A buddy and I play coop together and tried to play Archon mode the other day but, well, you said it. Show me what ya got! They are second only to viewer submitted games for me lol
I play archon regularly with frieds. As protoss we go Phoenix Colossus, and as Zerg we go Muta Ling Bane. I play the harassment units in both. Also, creep spread can be insane in archon mode.
when i was first introduced to starcraft 2 and helped by my friend who played the game for like 5-7 years, he thought it might be a funni idea to play archon mode and then we try to defeat high level AI in it back then i didnt know how to F2 or know most units in the game, i was in my first few hours into the game still playing zero hour xd
