S o nostalgic...and that is an attribute of Rachmaninoff ' s music..hearing this on his 150th anniversary, played by the only pianist in the last 20 years whose playing could be described as gorgeous....certain the SR himself is in Paradise and enchanted that an artist such as Volodos plays his music with such complete understanding and phenomenal genuine disciplined Romantic style...unique. A very special April 1st,2023 hearing this marvelous playing at 82 years......I played in 1973 at Japan House, New York City invited by Olga Kousevitsky to play on the then 100 year anniversary of SR...
@@Putsmeiser Anyway, Cziffra should be credited as a composer. His devilishly difficult paraphrase was also performed, without modifications, but with some cuts instead, by Cyprien Katsaris and Yuja Wang. But I am sure you know about that ;)
Incarnation c o u l d explain this transcendental playing ,??: liszt, Rachmaninoff, Simon Barere.. Moiseiwitsch, Horowitz all reincorporated in .... Volodos ??
It's a different world than what it used to be back in the late '90s. The image of sexualized females sells more and better (if you see what is happening in the social media realm, on youtube and other popular platforms). That's the new norm.
Volodos is still one of the best pianists out there and has transformed into a mind-blowing musician. Meanwhile Miss Wang makes her brothel mom, sorry: makes DG happy by selling a lot of meh albums wearing glittery bikinis.
One of the very greatest pianists of our times
Outstanding pianism!

Among all those blowing mind away pieces played with outstanding technique I should admit that polyphony in Andante from Cello Sonata is just MAGIC.
Indeed....actually improving this piece. Extraordinary😊
OMyGod.....It's IMPOSSIBLE.....Mind-blowing......BRAVO from Acapulco!
Thx a billion times!
Certainly one of the greatest piano recitals ever given!!!!!!!
Quel extraordinaire pianiste !
It's not mentioned in a program that Volodos plays here George Cziffra's version of the Fllght of the Bumblebee.
Thank you so much for uploading this! So interesting to hear this interpretation of the Flight of the Bumblebee! Please upload more Volodos!

@@443605 I am very familiar with the cziffra version of this piece. Volodos made extensive modifications to Cziffras original

23 years ago wow.... dont hear about Volodos much now. It's all about Yuja Wang it seems.
He slowed down the rate of his performances. And does not play almost nude, so...

What is listed as Rachmaninoff's Serenade Op 3/5 is actually his Prelude in D minor Op posth. ua-cam.com/video/4CMiN2ktvPE/v-deo.html
Thanks I think it's fixed now
Sort of an amateur, but A for effort. Keep practicing 👍
Horowitz p l u s ! and less- mannered
They're not the same breed of musicians at all. Volodos is more of the Gilels type (though profoundly unique)...
You messed up the time stamps
