I hope you enjoy this video. This is my one hundred and fourth "WHATS IN THE BOX" kit review and I hope to be completing this model when i have the necessary skills to do it the justice it deserves in a bout 10 years time. I have a model collection/stash of 33-40 1/72 Spitfires which i am currently building badly for the amusement or to the annoyance of my fellow UA-camrs, As my competence levels are not sufficient to complete this model it will be held in reserve for when i deem the time is right. If you would like to see the of 33 Spitfires there is a link to my collection below. As a novice modeller my intention is to learn the various assembly techniques and skills required, especially that of painting, so as i can produce half decent looking models, I concluded the best way to do this is to start with something simple, personally i think the best way to learn a new skill is repetition; try, try and try again. Hopefully by completing these 33 Spitfire models i will learn a few tricks of the trade. Whilst doing this I am also hoping to improve my VERY basic UA-cam skills, so far just uploading these videos has resulted in tantrums of titanic proportions, yes unfortunately i am also techno-phobic.
Follow me on my novice modelling journey whilst I try desperately to overcome my midlife crisis. Questions and suggestions always welcome. Please like and subscribe and follow me on my ride!

Hi Andy A nice quick video.
I think that is a good idea you came up with. To wish the guy a happy birthday. Plus I think or hope it will start to be educational for him to learn from you about the history of the Spitfire and art of scale modelling appreciation. Thanks Dean.

Thanks Dean though i doubt it, the boy makes me scream with laughter, though he is typical of many his age, a know nothing, know all. I often chastise him for his Tiktok addiction, "you have all the knowledge of civilization at your fingertips, yet you spend your breaktime watching idiots, acting like idiots" then he shows me what he's looking at and i near fall off my chair in hysterics, ah to be young and dumb again LOL.

Hi Andy. Its a novel idea and I like it. I am not a football fan but as I tell people I know enough to upset people , which I take great pleasure in doing. I think that it will look quite striking as a colour scheme. I might suggest that to do the underside stripes that you might want to paint the area red first then put the tape on and then paint the white colour. Its not the way that I would normally recomend how to do it but its the easiest way to do it. Also it won,t be on your shelf. So go for it, I look forward to seeing the end result. Well done bud.

Hey Andy, I really like the way they moulded this kit, compared to my older kits, a lot easier on assembly. Plus I really like that stand, I wish they still made those, makes a great looking wheels up display. Anxious to see the new color scheme too I broke my resolution to not buy kits for a while yesterday. Bought a 1/48 P-40 Flying Tiger and 1/72 F22 for $30.00 USD, I'll just have a few less beers, life is too short to pass up a good model deal.. Cheers, Bob

Hi Bob, Airfix display stands kit no AF1008, can you get that over the pond? $30 sounds like a good deal i am sure the heavenly father will forgive you. The Bleurgh Man Utd scheme is coming along OK, LOL the whole work thing and this modelling and Youtubing is quite funny, there's a bunch of young lads i banter with and i have told them about my youtubing, they keep asking for my channel name, they are both fascinated and bemused and i just tell them go find me yourself, i think there is money on whether i have or i haven't, or who finds me first, consequently i wont be putting the finished vid up for a while as i don't want to give the game away and spoil my fun LOL.

@@TheNoviceModeller Andy, good idea on kit number, thanks I shall release the hounds and hunt for the kit number. Hopefully my " penance " won't be harsh on my temptations Certainly, my blasphemy was not too for out of line , after all resistance is futile when you find a super deal. That office pool sounds like fun, keeping them wondering - whoever finds you will really be a Sherlock Holmes for sure. Cheers Bob

Its a fair point Steve, though if i paint it as it's supposed to be he'll probs go errmmmm thanks and not know what to do with it, in Man utd colours it'll go on his desk at home, especially as i am going to be putting his fav ever player Christiano Ronaldo at the controls.

Oh no he is a rare breed Man Utd fan, he's actually watched a game at Old Trafford! He would be aware of Duncan Edwards, he would probably know Cantona's career stats off the top of his head though. Unfortunately for him, most are Liverpool fans in this neck of the woods, he is on the receiving end of much banter.

hey up Andy use some medium / fine course sandpaper on that car if you have some then just rinse all the dust and excess of under the tap dry it well and paint it again. thats how i would get it nice anyways happy modeling.

      @TheNoviceModeller  21 день тому

hello there @neilmc4478 and thanks for watching, you're the first person to recommend sandpaper, one has recommended paint stripper and i have had a whole load of other suggestions regarding practically every solvent based liquid i have under the sink or in the garage PMSL, luckily i have a bunch of 20 year old 1/35 kits that i am thinking about repainting in addition to the citreon so reckon i'll just have to do a whole series of vids using every suggestion. hmmm i like this idea. thanks.
      be seeing you.

@@TheNoviceModeller hi some paint stripper is strong and could melt the plastic unless it is a weak paint stripper. or people mention what paint striper is ok. fine course sand paper sand all over till smooth check its smooth by using your fingers / sense . paint stripper usually used on metal / diecast maybe some plastic / fiberglass not sure on that if anyone suggests.

Sad that today's generation doesn't know about Spitfires-what has the world come to? And to think, I'm currently drooling about building a 1/350 HMS Cleopatra 🙂Since you're giving away the model, it really doesn't matter if it sports ManU livery. Just think of it as another step on your learning journey toward the perfect Liver bird. Now, to the task at hand, instead of masking tape, an alternative would be to trace the outline of the wings onto thin cardboard, then draw and cut out the stripes as required with a hobby blade. Use BluTack or masking tape to secure the masks after you've primed the model. Anyway, go wild, experiment and enjoy!

My young work bud doesn't seem to know much about nothing, except Man Utd and football, i think after he investigated Spitfires on his phone he did recognise them, he had just forgot, i haven't tested him on any other WW2 aircraft yet. Have decided to kind of do D-day stripes as it seems logical to practice them for future reference.

Your only hope of overcoming this is simply build another in LFC colours for yourself. The Liverbird logo would make an awesome tail marking. iYNWA!

Hello there @CanadianSam999 and thanks for watching, i have a build vid for it and will be doing a completed vid at some point, i decided to wear my LFC shirt and hat for protection, also medicinalised myself on Liverpool Distillery Vodka during the build. YNWA, perhaps a Liver bird would be a good idea.

i will be airbrushing it mostly, have now decided to go with a kind of D-day stripes on the wings and fuselage, i wont be putting it up on here for a few weeks as i am having way to much fun messing with the head of the lad i am giving it to, he is totally baffled by the whole model building and Youtubing and whether it is true or whether i am just pulling his leg. He is probably going to have a meltdown when i give it to him, i think there may even be a few bets on the outcome LOL. I had a football bet with him a few months ago, he won £5 in pennies off me, i am a cruel creature.
