Sometimes less really is more. For me, personally, it has to do with the fact that it feels more alive and ambient. The fast picking tremolo is almost like an organic scream coming from the guitar. Unfortunately, many shred/sweep solos feel either disjointed or just too stale, like they're practicing a scale.
I've always had a really strong emotional bond with this band. I teared up at 3:16 because I sing that part with the same variation when I am singing to the album version. This is a band that creates a meditative space that is easy to enter, and easy to share.
Between objectivity and subjectivity, language, introspection and reflection; you guys are philosophizing with your music. Thank you, from the cloud of my existence.
Jesus the effects were sent from god The production is insane Everything about this is just superb Machine Shop let me intern and learn the way of the master!
Cameron's "Rock Out" face is one of my favorite things about this video. Met the band a couple times, and he and Mike were the nicest dudes in a band full of nice dudes!
I still remember when these guys were deathcore! Awesome band! Its amazing to see how theyve changed! I wish they would play their song 'Integration' more. That song has some of the craziest random ass breakdowns that i love so much.
Same, I've lost count now but I think I've seen them somewhere around 8 times lol. They are always amazing but the 2 part tour they did about a year or so ago was the best performance I've ever seen by them. Finally got to see Monochrome: Pensive live! Now if we can just get this Exoplanet anniversary tour! 😁
Dave Jolly same I’ve been seeing them a bit over a decade live through almost every vocalist change and one thing I will say is that they sure know how to pick great replacements when one leaves. Their music always progresses and stands the rest of time. Great band all around. An exoplanet anniversary would be lovely.
@@Jin_Raiden Yeah I was super bummed to see Carpenter leave but Lessard was a perfect replacement. Btw Carpenter is getting close to releasing a solo album under the name Foreign Waves that concludes the Exoplanet and Intrinsic story lines. Been waiting on this thing to drop for like 7 years now lol. Definitely check it out if you haven't yet.
Dave Jolly Finally!!! Thank you! I will definitely check it out I’m so excited. He was a amazing live too but I agree they’ve always done well with replacements and musicality. Lessard has beautiful clean vocals but his screams are fucking amazing also.
This music is for people who seen stuff and understood...Music for People who dare to get in touch with themselves...thank you for this music! This session is frozen in time. Just awesome...hear it on repeat ❤
Super ultra mega equipados están! Tremendo estudio. Si tuviera ese estudio para mí, no me verían nunca jamás afuera, jaj, viviría encerrado tocando y componiendo y grabando.
I love the contortionist. I hope they will continue making music this great. I’m more into heavy music but the music they make is so deep that in this case there’s no need to be that heavy.
one day i read that with 30 years you stop listen new music, i was 34 and thinking about it i see that it cam be clearly thrue. There are 2 or 3 bands that creates interesy in me and you are one of them Im 40. Thank you
this song has almost been the soundtrack to my life for the past year. actually, it's almost been a year exactly since i found the contortionist on spotify. such an amazing band...i've never heard music like this before that connects to my soul so much. i've been through a breakup, breakdowns, travelling the world and being stuck at home with this band. it's like i'm hearing someone sing to my soul every time i listen. please never stop making music
Sections like 2:20 really impress me. These guys are wonderful musicians but those little sections are just great songwriting, dynamics, and tasteful playing. Really showing off how experienced they are. Crafting great songs.
This is absolute perfection. This song still gives me the chills and this rendition is fantastic! Thank you, Machine Shop, and thank you to TC for sharing this!
Love this so much! Anytime I get to see my son sing it’s a good day! #thatsmyboy❤️❤️❤️
He’s the best😍😍😍
Thank you so much! I think he’s pretty special as well as this band! ❤️😎
yo is this michaels mom lmao
Yes I am Michaels mom!
Wish my mom was this supportive 😅
I love how he changed vocals form original version, everything sound perfect
He's a true master of his craft!
Reimagined reimagined lol
That breathe again gets me everytime
1:56 ❤❤❤
This is my favorite version.
2:55 how this "simple" solo is so much more powerful than most shred / sweep solos out there

Cameron lives every note. He is one with the music.

Aki Tidal Aptly put and I'd like to agree ☝️
Amen brother
2:56 - just melts my heart every fricking time. Damn I love this band so much, and this production is crystal clear!
Same here dude. I can listen to that part on repeat for hours.
I always felt that sounded al little muddy. The whole cd needs to be remixed imo.
I love Cameron’s guitar face 🤟 rly feelin it

So bummed I couldn’t go to the concert last night cuz of the corona! Really glad they’re uploading these 👩❤️💋👩

Damn great work on the added effects. Ear candy listening to this on nice headphones/speakers.
Jordy really like the synths and keyboard coming through so strongly.
I love how the guitar player also plays the drums at the same time, awesome
What a voice, dude
Right?
I love how they added some flanger to the hihat & to the crash(?) and that dark reverb on the kick & the snare for the pre-chorus
Finally, a good fuckin 4K-shot live video. Thank you!
Mixed by the Machine...thats a privilege

The Contortionist is brilliant. Awesome sound quality.
That last 20 seconds gave me the most insane goosebumps, you guys are really on a whole other level
I love that the drummer plays with a lot of fluidity and confidence. Also his kit sounds amazing!

There is no perfection in this world, with one exception: The Contortionist.
Unbelievably good!
the drums sound incredible. one adjective that comes to mind is “crisp”. just stellar production overall.
Hot dang that is a good drum sound.
It has been 100000th time I am listening to this song. still sounds like the first chill
so so sick
I love that they never seem to play anything exactly as it appears on the albums. Always a new arrangement.
