They’re not donated, but purchased from India or china. India outlawed the sale in the eighties, and China in 2008. Any further provenancing is very difficult, but it’s not great. It’s a fairly unpleasant business. There are plenty of analogs - there’s not really a need to use human bone, so it’s quite disappointing really.

Well, that is Murica for you.
You seem to be able to buy what ever you want.
Btw, i can't get over the fact that there are places where you can go as a tourist and look at stacked bones.
      In Paris you got this.
And in Sedlec near Kutna Hora in Czech republic you also have a very nice display.
And what is the most crazy is that they have put some of the skulls on display close enough for people to write their name on.
And people actually write their name on it.
In Sedlec they have put them so to show how ridiculous some people can be, by writing names on it.
As a way to hopefully get a bit of respect from the visitors back so that they wont continu the nonsense.

The house is not nearly as simple as a box, the internal walls which would trap the air and the results would not be as predictable, you'd have to test house on house basis to figure out the air flow and how it impacts a house. I'm sure for some houses you'd like to open windows but for most it's either neutral or catastrophic decision to open windows.

    • @potatosordfighter666

I think another issue is that it's supposed to be a 1/2 scale house but they used 2x4s so it would be like 4x8s on a full sized house. As well, a 1/2 scale house is technically 1/8th the size of a real house, and would therefore have 1/8th as much external surface area, and because of the square cube law the wood is proportionally stronger for the size of the house.

44:32 The temperatures mentioned are not correct. The vast majority of the probe is sticking out pf the trunk, which gets covered in liquid nitrogen. This is what it is actually reading.
I wonder if a tree like this could explode if it was dunked in LN2, so the water doesn't have time to move to the air pockets. Or if they used a big single stream instead of multiple smaller ones. The effect of flash freezing could be a lot bigger.

@@MrMarinus18 That test was terrible. In the actual scene her head was only half-submerged and she was screaming, nostrils wide, mouth agape. She presumably inhaled a bunch of nitrogen, so her head would be freezing from the inside as well. Not to mention that her head hit a 90 degree corner on a steel table, and also only the front half of her head shattered in the scene. Doing a side by side comparison the 5-second freeze was the one that was the closest to the movie. It looks more like a frozen watermelon in the movie to be honest.
The movie takes place in 25 century and all the characters grew up on a different planet. Space travel is fairly common as they are going on a field trip to the now abandoned Earth; who is to say they have the same bone density as people on Earth today...
They didnt really mention exactly how much force they were hitting with. Grant said 1000 pounds, but also said 20 psi in the piston. How much inertia is in the hammer, how fast is it moving?
