I bought the XDS 9mm a couple months ago, and I really like it. It gave me a grin to know hickok45 liked it so much he wrote a check for it because he liked it too. It's good to know I'm in such esteemed company. Enjoy your XDS!
Probably my favorite Hickok45 episode. Everything just seemed to fall in place. From the wasp to "I was trying to do that" when shooting the cowboy. Ole Hickok45 and his boy John...Life is Good!
Good to hear. We'll start getting reports back pretty quickly, I'm sure. A local fellow who lends us guns occasionally got his back this week and said the trigger feels about the same, but he had not shot it yet.
I still lean toward the G26 or G27. The thinness of this one is inviting, but a person has to decide whether the lower round count trade-off is worth the thinness. There's always a trade-off, a price to be paid for more capacity, more power, less bulk, less weight, longer sight radius, bigger caliber, etc. No free lunch. :-)
Hickok, I found you channel a few weeks ago and have enjoyed it greatly. I just wanted to thank you for adding your comments about the recall. I did not know about the recall and if I didn't see this video I may have never found out. Thanks Hickok. Life is good.
after watching your video i just went and purchased xds 9mm with the FDE and i love it. I always check your videos for any firearm i am interested in to see how it functions. I really enjoy your videos they are very educational for anybody interested in buying a certain firearm.
I have the xds 9 I love it I have been carrying it since they came out it's my every day carry gun. I have put plus of 5,000 rounds through this fire arm and have never once had a failure no stove piping no jams nothing it will feed what ever ammo I put through it. And is very accurate. I hope this helps if some is considering the Springfield xds 9 as a carry gun. In my opinion it's one of the best out there.
I'm glad you did that aside on the recall down by the swinging plates, just for a scale comparison with your diminutive 6' 8" self. Man, I didn't realize the array there was so big!
I KNOW you've heard it a million times before but you make shooting look far too simple and smooth... I really enjoy my XDs 9 3.3, perfect carry gun for me most days and it's just fun to shoot in general.
Hickok, you are living proof that good men get better with age. I'm probably older than you and though not near as accurate as you, I can hold my own with any dude up to 50 years younger. Eat right, exercise right, sleep right and laugh right and you will live a full life.
You Sir are an exceptional marksman. I really enjoy watching you, I find myself watching your hand positions & the way you grip, aim & pull the trigger on your firearms. No matter if they be handguns or a long gun, your grip & stance is always the same. I'm a Vietnam Era Marine had I known then what I've learned from watching you this past year, I might not have as many "PH" (3) as I do in my tan jacket "SR". I'd join your fire team in a heart beat. Semper Fi Hickok45 (Hand salute respectfully)
I had just bought my XDS .45 when the recall was announced. I had time to shoot it a good bit and was really bonding with it. I'm anxious to get it back.
Thank you for your insight. I agree there's always trade-offs. I have a G27 and it meets my needs very well although there are times I wish it were thinner. Fortunately, I don't wish for that often enough to justify buying something else. Thank you for your review.
Always enjoyable to watch. When going to the indoor range, they usually have the more popular pistols one can rent to see how they fire. And as you said, how often you shoot anyway. One can generally tell if a gun will work with them, but there are plenty of guns that are simple and some that have more bells and whistles. Simple for me, with safety, is generally a prerequisite. I mentioned I bought myself the Italian Ferrari 'Px4 Storm', which handles as advertised. lolo
I think that's the first time I've ever seen you without your hat on, even if it was just momentary... lol thanks for continuing to share these great videos with us! =)
Liked mine. Started carrying it in a bellyband approach. Comfortable. Had to have feed ramp polished as a new gun to deal with reloads. Afterwards got recall notice and sent mine back Fed X waiting for it to return after safety recall. Will probably carry it again. Deeper carry works well for me. Due to entry in gun free zones like nursing homes and hospitals, I have to take mine off and on several times a day. Gun vault in the car used.
Not that your ever really ever OFF in your shooting, but man you were ON in this video. You nailed those pop bottles with very little aquisition time. Hard to shoot a small pistol this good for most folks...me included. Carry on.
Sent mine back. Contacted Springfield too; they're shooting for a 30 day turn around... Thought I'd let any know who were wondering. My XDS 45 has been a flawless champ with over 600 rounds and my main carry. I miss it. Thankfully I got a good ole S&W model 36 as backup.
Spot on with your philosophy Hickok! I have a shield 9mm, I love the gun bit the only way that I carry a gun that size is in the pocket of my cargo shorts. If I am carrying IWB, I have much more options and I am less concerned with the overall size of the firearm as it will conceal just as well if I am carrying my g27 or even my g19 with 15 round capacity and a light/laser attached. I think both categories of pistols fill a niche and I won't be selling either any time soon!
I got the xds 9mm the .40 and .45 acp of this series and love all 3 of them. I change the fiber optic on all 3 of them from that orange reddish color to the neon green one. Have not had any problems with any of them so far. I carry the 9mm.
Hornady 147gr. XTP hollow points have been my ammo of choice for CC/ self defence in 9mm(when i carry a 9) for a long while now, great choice Hickok:) When you keep a T&E gun, to me thats an Excellent recomendation, as I do respect your opinion very much. Nice video John n Greg, thnx gents. Mike.
Bought myself an XDs 9mm last week. Found out about the recall and after some research found a quick way to find out if you need to send it in or not. If your XDs has a roll pin in the grip safety, you don't have to send it in. If the grip safety does not have a roll oin in it, you need to send it in to Springfield to get the upgrade.
Called Springfield yesterday, they recieved my wife's XD-S 9mm on Sept 4th. Now they're tell us 8-10 weeks turnaround time. There had BETTER be some swag when that thing comes back.
Request: I would truly enjoy a video from you and John; “no shooting” just you walking down range and describing your range and equipment and if at all possible a camera/view from the “gong” to where you stand. Just a guy stuck in New Jersey-with dreams. ~M~
On the matter of sending guns back, I have a Smith 686 from 1984 that had a recall on it to correct back flow when shooting .357 magnum loads. I discovered this after I bought the gun used in May. I'm now at 4 months waiting to get it back and last time I spoke with a Smith rep, he informed me it would be at least another month. While this isn't the same thing, be aware that long, long waits can and do happen with these companies..
I shipped mine in September 3rd so I called yesterday regarding this same thing. (September 25th) Unfortunately, I was told by a Penny at Springfield that the average time to return the firearm to the owner is approximately 10 to 12 weeks. I was like," DAMN" Oh well, I absolutely LOVE this pistol! Hope this helped! Later...
Holy cow mr 45 you are the best shot I have ever seen. Wow I have been a sub for a while now and I look forward to new vids. Keep up the great work and hope your enjoying your retirement. Nice shooting like always sr
Another thing that blew me away about the recall was that it was a voluntary. However on their website it states that the problem could cause serious injury or death. Emphasis on death. Yet they recall is voluntary nice. You would think they would contact you if you're registered your weapon with them. But oh no I have to find out about it on UA-cam. Pretty a responsible PR if you ask me. Now that thing I can say is I love the weapon. I 45 at fits n your pocket and can hit @80 yrds.
Hi Hickok, Good luck with your XDs's. I sent my XDs 45 back about 3 or 4 weeks ago. Haven't heard or got it back yet. No doubt they are dealing with several thousand right now. By the way I really enjoy your videos. We have property in South East Ohio that looks a lot like your range and would love to set it up similar to yours.
Off topic, but I finally got some Ballistol and had a marathon cleaning day yesterday haha. Excellent stuff! cleaned my sks (really needed it) wife's shotgun, and both our pistols. I'll miss the hoppes 9 smell, maybe I'll keep some around for cologne. Thanks for the advice.
Oh, by the way I do own a XDS .45 and it's a toss up carry gun between my Glock 32 Gen4 ported .357/.40 and my M&P .357/.40. They are all about the same size and weight but the age old argument (can never be solved): the stopping power of the .45 vs the firepower of the .9mm, .357sig and .40 S&W. In an all out battle I would choose the Glock since it's hard to argue with 5 or 6 loaded 31 round mags.
I'm not entirely new to shooting, but I am fairly new to shooting handguns. I have learned tons from Hickok! My first handgun was a High Point.380 (oops). I then bought a Sig Sauer P290rs in 9mm (sort of oops - such a loooong trigger pull). Then a friend recommended this Springfield xds in 9mm. I got it for a great price online and truly found the gun I really enjoy shooting. Thanks for the added advice Hickok! Now...for that Glock 19...someday! Can you put a good word in for me with my wife? 😆
I have an Alabama holster made pocket holster bad to the bone. Reach in your pocket put your thumb against it and pull it out. It took them 2 or 3 months but it is nice.
I owned the XDS45 and I started having failure to feed issues after a couple hundred rounds. I was not impressed being this was to be one of my cary guns. I got rid of it, but am considering the XDS9. I bout the S&W Shield a couple months ago, so far it seems to be doing well....

The respectful comments on your videos are a breath of fresh air. Keep up the great work!
There's crazy stuff, of course, but most of it gets spammed out.
Always thoroughly impressed with your accuracy. Your ability to acquire a target so quickly is extremely impressive. Keep it up!
I still lean toward the G26 or G27. The thinness of this one is inviting, but a person has to decide whether the lower round count trade-off is worth the thinness. For pocket carry, I like the rubber.
Thats a smart bee. Knows the safest place on hickoks range is safely on his hat!
Love the beautiful Springfield Field XDs :)
Hey Hickok,
Thanks for going the extra mile and pointing out the recall. Not everyone would have done that.
Love the channel.
I have the xds 9 I love it I have been carrying it since they came out it's my every day carry gun. Another great video from hickok45! I was watching this at work so I had ear buds in and at 14:20 I thought a mosquito was trying to get me! Lol

I could watch your videos all day.
I had just bought my XDS .45 when the recall was announced. I had time to shoot it a good bit and was really bonding with it. I'm anxious to get it back.
Wow Hickok, you are a big man. The most I can pocket carry is a J frame, and even then it is bulging out. Impressive.
Thank you for your insight. I agree there's always trade-offs. I have a G27 and it meets my needs very well although there are times I wish it were thinner. Fortunately, I don't wish for that often enough to justify buying something else. Thank you for your review.
Always educated, entertained, and pleased watching you videos. Thanks

I cannot wait to get my XDs 9 back! Such an awesome pistol!
Yes, and since I did not like them, my checkbook stayed in my pocket and the firearms did not follow me home. :-)
Hickok I get bored when u don't post videos. I need at least a video a day. Thanks in advance
Dang, that's some solid shooting in the intro. Like a machine, very nice.
Love the yellow jacket, very nice anecdote for the video!
That zoom in on the bee. lol
I think that's the first time I've ever seen you without your hat on, even if it was just momentary... lol thanks for continuing to share these great videos with us! =)
I love the front pocket dump pouch
Liked mine. Started carrying it in a bellyband approach. Comfortable. Had to have feed ramp polished as a new gun to deal with reloads. Sent in my 9mm XDs on Sept 9! Love your videos hickock45.
Perfect timing for me. I didn't know about the recall. Sent it in today.
Haha! It just cracked me up when you pulled it out and started busting targets!!! This guy is so boss!!! :)
Not that your ever really ever OFF in your shooting, but man you were ON in this video. You nailed those pop bottles with very little aquisition time. Hard to shoot a small pistol this good for most folks...me included. Carry on.

I envy this man. He has such an awesome set up. I wish I had a range like that.
fast accurate shooting, great shooting buddy.
I got the xds 9mm the .40 and .45 acp of this series and love all 3 of them. I change the fiber optic on all 3 of them from that orange reddish color to the neon green one. Have not had any problems with any of them so far. I carry the 9mm.
How easy was the change, any advice?
Hickok, Thanks for the heads up on the recall.
excellent video (like all your videos) greetings from Costa Rica, is the educational channel I've seen more.
I would never buy a gun without watching a review from you first that being said please review the xde
Thanks for showing me this little gem. It may have to be my next pistol but would be the 45.
Love your videos keep it up
Very impressive accuracy with such a small gun!
Mike.
Wow, you seem to shoot this gun as good as any of the others I've seen you shoot. Kind of surprised, excellent shooting as always Hickok!
Got the recall on mine.. was very fast and simple. They also threw in an extra mag. the Shield had a notice also for the hinged trigger.
Hickok is the man!!!
They all know better. Hickok is such a good shot, he'd hit 'em all.
Tennessee looks beautiful .
I could watch H45 do Silhouette shooting all day.
Hickok when you get your XDs back I fully expect to see a Chapter 3 with a barrel of ammo ready and waiting ;)
Called Springfield yesterday, they recieved my wife's XD-S 9mm on Sept 4th. Now they're tell us 8-10 weeks turnaround time. There had BETTER be some swag when that thing comes back.
---- I believe you shoot this XDS better than your G-27. Says a lot for this gun. Great video. Great shooting like always.
Request: I would truly enjoy a video from you and John; “no shooting” just you walking down range and describing your range and equipment and if at all possible a camera/view from the “gong” to where you stand. Just a guy stuck in New Jersey-with dreams. ~M~

thank you very much for your videos personally I watch them with great envy and learned a lot.

I just wanted to add I love my Hidden Hybrid holster as well. I own one for every pistol that I own!
I'd just like to see a video with John and see how tall you two are and all that good stuff, but There HAS to be guns! :D Big fan Hickok!
Hi Hickok, Good luck with your XDs's. I sent my XDs 45 back about 3 or 4 weeks ago. Haven't heard or got it back yet. No doubt they are dealing with several thousand right now. By the way I really enjoy your videos. We have property in

Thanks for the heads up about the recall. I've only shot mine twice and I hate to send it off so soon but better safe then sorry.
You sir, are a bloody good shot!
Thanks for the great video(s).

Yes! Get out of the way. In front of Hickok45's target stand is among the last places on Earth I would want to stand
The bee thing was different. I like it.
Oh, by the way I do own a XDS .45 and it's a toss up carry gun between my Glock 32 Gen4 ported .357/.40 and my M&P .357/.40. I've been insulted by pot before too!...Love the vids, keep them coming!
That satisfying "ping!" of shooting steel!
Thanks for finally dropping the name of that pocket holster you're using, I just ordered one. ;)
Very impressive shooting!
Oh man thanks for the psa on the recall! You're f*cking awesome. Love the videos
the Bees love you hickok :)
master hickok45 sure that gun is too sweet even that bee can't resist...
Haha love it....waiting on my xds to return home too
Old man can SHOOT.
hey Hickok some of us are still waiting on a chapter 2 on the ruger sr22 pistol love the vids keep them comming
Lol the bug just chilling on his hat XD
Got the 45 and 9 and love them both. The boss (wife) has the 9 now LOL
I'm not entirely new to shooting, but I am fairly new to shooting handguns. I have learned tons from Hickok! My first handgun was a High Point.380 (oops). Hickock has us all fooled. He wears 4x glasses. :)
Thanks I will check it out
I have an Alabama holster made pocket holster bad to the bone. Reach in your pocket put your thumb against it and pull it out. It took them 2 or 3 months but it is nice.
Awesome range! I'm sooooo jealous!
Hehehe the wasp on the hat was funny :D
thanks for the heads up on the recall
I owned the XDS45 and I started having failure to feed issues after a couple hundred rounds. I was not impressed being this was to be one of my cary guns. I got rid of it, but am considering the XDS9. I bout the S&W Shield a couple months ago, so far it seems to be doing well....
Great video Sir!
I love my pm9. I compared to the xds and for me the pm9 is a lot more comfortable in my hand.
Shot my first .44 revolver a few days ago; it was amazing. Got a magic trick to hide that one? Only kidding, another fun video thumbs up.
