The victims brother was indeed phenomenal. In the last scene, he was so moved by his brother's role models he cried, as if he knew what this arrangement of firemen meant. A formal goodbye with utmost respect and honour
That episode still affects me, however many years later. That final scene, with the house observing all the normal protocols they would for a firefighter's funeral, is heartbreaking.
Poor little kid was going to become a firefighter like them, and they honored and respected him as if he already was a firefighter and one of their brothers that died. The most beautiful scene ever in Chicago fire
The scene may not be, but the raw emotion it invokes is about as real as it can get, especially if someone close to you has recently died as it will invariably bring back painful memories.
i had to bury my 7 year old daughter after chemo didnt work, it was to heavy for me, my sister took my place carrying it because i couldnt hold back the pain anymore and afterwards i spent 3 years in therapy just to get back to being able to look at my late daughters photo without breaking down
Somebody lost their marriage partner and they're called a widow. A child who lost parents is called an orphan. There are no words to properly call a parent who lost a child.
All I can say is I admire the chief and I admire firefighters because not only do they do their job but they have the strength to comfort the family members Now I know why so many of them have faith in God. Because their job calls them to do miracles
I live in London, England; whilst our Metropolitan Police is treated with a great deal of suspicion, that cannot be quite said amongst our London Fire Brigade. Yes, that is not shown as in absolute gratitude, especially when specific, large scale, fires have occurred, the most recent being a tower block fire, in which many procedures where called into question ... But there is still enough faith, if one can call it that, that, in an emergency, they will walk through smoke and flame to get you out. I remember Danny Cotton, the first Female Commissioner (thus did make her the most senior, active duty, Fire Officer), whilst not the Incident Commander on scene - her immediate deputy was - she still spoke a quick few words to every single firefighter going into that blaze, with, as she would tell the later Inquiry, that in 35+ years, of starting as a junior firefighter, then working her way up, she knew that there was a distinct possibility of her losing more than a few, especially if an internal collapse happened, given it literally was a towering inferno. She couldn't bare the thought of not looking her crews, men and women alike, in the eyes, and telling them all how proud she was of serving with, and for, them. She stayed on the ground, until it was confirmed that all was left to do was conduct dampening down operations, meaning the vast bulk of all the firefighters, and appliances, could be stood down, and the exhausted men could be relieved, not least home, shower, and bed ... ... although the worst would be for those specialist crews, of Urban Search and Rescue, in the following search and recovery, a utterly grim task, given the sheer ferocity of the fire itself, which completely gutted ⅘ths of the entire building ... Like so many, I strongly believe that, globally, firefighters, along with EMTs/Paramedics (which, again in London, is covered by the seperate London Ambulance Service, making up the other third of our First Responder Triad ...) are simply not paid quite enough compared to what they have to face from time to time. An acquaintance of mine, and retired firefighter for the London Fire Brigade, was told of a story of a pretty fierce fire on the London Underground, that was hot enough to melt the chocolate that used be kept in old, coin operated, dispensers that we of a certain age remember, well, to the point it had flowed out like a stagnlatite you see in caves. Once back at the station, taking his boots off, a thin trickle of sweat poured out ... So, yes indeed ... they are exceptional people whom are willing to put their lives on the line, so that others may live ... Oh, and St. Florian is the Patreon Saint of Firefighters (4th May); and there is also a Firefighters Prayer, that points to many, across the Earth, believing, as they place themselves unto God's grace, and mercy ...
@@hilaryc3203 it may be so, but many of them do belive in something bigger. Both my stepfather and uncle are first responders, and they may not belive in god, but i also know they all belive in something, it simply helps them overcome the horrors they see every time they answer a call. Some people belive in God, some belive in angels or the universe, they need something to belive or else this job would be unberable
what makes it more beautiful is the reasoning behind herman's idea one of their friends died and barely anyone showed respect, so herman brought the idea to show the kid the proper respect he deserves
These scenes are full of gut wrenching & raw emotion. Chief Boden is a genuine True Leader & his team follow his example. They treated that little boy as if he was already in the CFD family. Brings me almost to tears watching this.
Herrmann suggested the idea and everyone was on board with it. It is such a beautiful tribute to a little boy, who loved firefighters and wanted to be one himself.
I am deeply moved by this scene everyone came together and gave this young firefighter the send of he so wanted they Honoured his wishes and held him with the upmost respect and Hope and Honour but also family I will never stop watching this scene because it speaks about not just about Hope but it speaks about coming together as one in unity
This is my first time seeing this and it just floored me. Right now I'm wiping tears away as I type this. That final act of the firemen and paramedics was truly a sign of respect for the young boy and his family.
I know what you mean... Some years ago here in the UK, a young boy who died in a car accident wanted to be a firefighter when he grew up. Turns out the family couldn't even afford an actual hearse, so the local Brigade broke out the flatbed from the Brigade museum and carried his coffin on the back with full colours and outriders
If this doesn't give you chills or have you tear up, you have no soul. Absolutely beautiful. Wonderful tribute to someone who was already treated with the same respect and send off as any of their own.
God.....what’s sad is this is actually how many children have died, they don’t understand how far down it is and are tragically killed by the fall. Or they suffocate in the enclosed space....now laundry shoots are built so children can’t fall into them and have holes drilled inside so air can flow through
I'm sorry to ask this but can you possibly tell me what happen to that boy? I thought his chest was pressed that's why he couldn't breathe. but then it's revealed that his neck snapped. did he fall and hit the bottom..? but it wasn't the bottom... I'm sorry I don't understand how his neck got like that, because of hitting the wall?
I haven't missed an episode, since day one, and this one hit me hard - for the 2nd time. It was so nice to see all the familiar faces. Wish they were all still on the show!
This scene is so heartbreaking and touching to watch every time I watch this. The tribute the firehouse put on was excellent for a boy who wished to become a fireman.
This is so heartbreaking to see especially after the news about the 5 yr old Moroccan boy who fell in a well, after 5 days he was retrieved but by then he was dead.
For real...man i was crying just the moment i saw how the kid was stuck in the laundry shoot such a tight space with him upside down, neck turnt, eyes open looking at you can't say a word or try to open his mouth or anything.😢😢😢😢 that made me become soft with alot of tears.

The one thing about this that bothers me is that their captain or lieutenant whatever his rank or title is, he says “ten hut” and that’s not what military and first responders say. They say “atten-tion” like the word “attention” but more spaced out. Nobody in the history of US military or first responder service has ever said “ten hut”. I feel like even the slightest bit of research would’ve solved this. Other than that it’s an amazing scene.
