They had accidentally fitted the steering wheel prototype that only displays advertisements, Piastri eventually convinced them that they should swap it as no one would be looking when they’re that far back anyway

I wonder how much of it was a software issue. The hard reboots could get the engine computer into an unrecoverable state, essentially bricking it and the power unit along with it. It also makes me wonder where the software architecture of these cars actually is, and how much of each team’s success and struggles is due to that, instead of simply mechanical elements.
Which is to say, please do a video about F1 car onboard software. Who writes it? How do they test it? How do they deploy code changes? How has it evolved over time? What’s next? Will F1os ever be a standard platform for all cars? Have any teams ever cheated with software? Is any software shared with, or eventually released to road cars? How does car software interact with simulator software? There are so many questions, and I don’t recall ever seeing anyone discuss it.

McLaren makes the ecu for the cars so
I think they just used custom ecu and screen like any other race car but with hardened hardware oh dont forget about tons of sensor. The problem is how they sure about new engine setting without dyno test

Mclaren is doing everything in their power to make sure Oscar feels bad for not signing with Alpine.
it's not like Alpine is further ahead. they have dipped heavily too.
Alpine should have offered Oscar a contract if they wanted him to sign with them.

@@karlfernandes1367 No, they didn't. At the time Oscar signed with McLaren Alpine were still courting Alonso for an extension and telling Oscar they'd get him a Williams seat when they got round to it.
This is like a prank to the new guy. We see this in college, high school, company, but not shock to see this in the orange team.

Pretty sure the engine died while in the pitbox, not as he was coming into the pits. You could hear the engine running as he entered his box, and then go to silence.
If you check the onboard you see it cut off when coming down the pit lane!

These wheels are tested within an inch of their lives so if there was a problem with the wheel it would've shown in testing.

piastri is overrated
I think the problem was they had a great New steering wheel, they put a lot of money in developing it all last year, and then suddenly the wheel betrayed them and said it will be steering an alpine this year. O wait, no I guess that karma belonges to someone else. I hope Piastri sees nothing but the alpine tail light all this year.
