I fully agree on the trimmers. I rock with the Wahl detailers and they keep me crispy. Any thoughts on the best clippers for fades, tapers, general cuts?
Thank you for the recommendation 👏🏾 as I was using a razor and getting bumps but the Wahl clipper is efficient 🙌🏾 also it cuts the beard low but but not too low. I also use a wizker brush after a couple of days on my beard.
Love your personality!!!!! Thanks for this video. I was forced to become a barber because my husband is paralyzed. I haven't been doing this 33 years, but I feel like I'm really good at it. My husband always gets compliments on his beard. Great video.
Seriously, this is much valuable advice. Bless you Garrick. May try the Babyliss trimmers as the Wahl detailers I had didn't last long. Another question, would pre shave oil help before using the trimmers to shave?
I personally don’t use an oil. I would recommend washing your face before shaving instead of an oil. You want your skin to be as dry as possible before shaving in order to get a closer shave.
Garrick, from the looks of it, your facial hair is short enough to give you that freshly shaved look, but the hairs aren’t underneath the follicle/pore (which is where curling and ingrowns become an issue). Is that correct? I have to have a completely shaven face for the police academy and cannot afford to mess my face up with shaves too low down. It looks like those wahls will accomplish what I need without me sacrificing my skin. Long as the hair is above the follicle I’m good.
Yesir. You will be good will the Wahl. Also after you shave throw and hot towel on your face for a for 30 seconds to 1 1/2 minutes. You won’t ever have to worry about razor bumps.
Trying to gift my son a trimmer… he has been complaining about a few razor bumps here and there after using his other trimmer. I believe it’s a Phillips (1 blade trimmer). Would you recommend the Wahl detailer trimmer for a close shave? Thank you 😊
Bro..thank you. I love the Wahl detailer. Watched your video and bought one. It trims facial hair great. What is the easiest and inexpensive way of taking care of the Detailer?
You welcome fam. I’m glad that you love it. All you have to do is oil them once a week and you’ll be good. Also keep away from water. As easy as that sounds a lot of people will have on the counter. They can get wet. The water could cause the blade to rust.
It’s amazing that you ask me that fam. I’m dropping a video about that within the next 2 days. Gotta finish editing. Go with the Wahl Detailer Corded. Those are dope AF. Attached is the Amazon link for them if you need it. amzn.to/3WvvUZd. Also check out the video that I dropped about them today.
Great video. But my son is 16 and doesn’t have beard or sideburns yet. He has a little mustache that hangs to the side of his top lip. What trimmers do you recommend for a teen mustache?
The Andis Outliner Corded Trimmers. I included a link in the description. Those are perfect for him and not too expensive. Great starter trimmers that cut well.
The Wahl Detailer Cordless. The link is in the video description. But here you go. I would recommend purchasing within the next 2 days because it’s going to be Amazon Prime Day. amzn.to/3y08ktO
Is there a difference in performance between the wahls corded vs the cordless? Which do you recommend for facial shaving before trimming the hair before using the babyliss? By the way, the babyliss fx2 is awesome
Genuine question, do you need to put on shaving cream while using trimmers ? If not what is the best way to prep my face before shaving it with the trimmers ?
You don’t need shaving cream. You don’t need to prep your face at all. Make sure your face doesn’t have any oil or lotion on it before shaving. Its best the shave when your skin is dry. After you shave you can put a hot towel on your face. It allows your pours to open up thus preventing razor bumps.
I always used 'Wahl what a shaver' but it was discontinued. Now I have no idea what to use. I get bumps all over my head and face. At least now I have an idea. Thanks 🙏
Good tips, will look into these for shaping. What would you recommend if you’re not trying to shave hair completely off but just trim it? I like my beard around a 3 and don’t want to keep waiting till I get a cut to trim it down.
hi how do you maintain a stubble¿ which length is best for thick curly hair and which products do you use¿ do i still need to use shaving cream for trimmings?
You don't need shaving cream for trimmers, in fact that could damage the trimmers. The ideal length will depend on what area you're shaving. If you're trying to get as close shave on your fave, just the trimmers mentioned in this video with no stubble guards will do. If the wireless trimmers are out of your budget, get the corded versions that are half the price.
If you want to maintain stubbles. With the clippers that I mentioned in the video. Move the lever all the way down and cut the hair every other day. That will maintain the stubble look. You don’t need to use shaving cream. Cutting the hair natural is the best option. Afterwards you can use a hot towel to open up the pores so that you won’t get razor bumps.
@@garrickdixonThis has me crying Unc 6 months later🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣 Btw thanks for the video used it to shave my beard completely today, some pain around my chin area, do you think that’s going to develop into razor burn/razor bumps?
Thanks gif the video! What about for shortening / maintaining a certain beard length and not fully shaving it? What products would you recommend for that?
The trimmers he recommended here could still work IF they come with clipper guards. If not you can get away with using a beard trimmer that costs 30-50 bucks at Wal-Mart.
“They skin was a lil different… idk if it’s because they were fighting racist or something” 😂😂😂😂

I chuckled when he said this but reading it back in the comments has me crackin up.
Budget: Andis T-Outliner (Corded) & Andis Foil Shaver (Cord in)
Ballin: StyleCraft Saber Trimmer (Gold) & StyleCraft Rebel Shaver
Witch Hazel after, YOU'RE WELCOME
I use the wahl detailer and your right it hits just right for black skin. Glad you share your experiences. Keep them coming
Do use the cordless or the corded detailer

For a first time in home shaver is shaving cream needed for these trimmers
No not at all. You never need shaving cream for the trimmers
Thanks for this, my guy. This is exactly what I was looking for! 🔥🔥🔥
Gotcha fam
@garrickdixon what is a good trimmer for shaving head bold
The wahl detailer is the absolute truth. The Babyliss pro foil shaver is good also. I love them both. I also shave with an old school safety razor
You gotta have that old school backup fam.
Thank you bro.

Thank you so much, brother. God bless you. 💯👍 Big up. Just bought through your link.
How good is it brother?
Greetings thank you for the expert information which of the trimmers would you say have the best power for sharp trimming
The Wahl clippers for sure
Thank you for this video. Need these bumps gone !

I didn’t. That’s why they are so good
I cut once a week I wait 7-8 days to cut especially with beards
Thank you for this. With I had seen it before I bought these Philip clippers thinking they would get my beard crispy ❌
Ouch
Thanks Bro
We gotta help each other out ✊🏾
How do we take of the clippers after we’re done?
Oil once a week and brush the excess hair off with a clipper brush after using.

What’s the best black hair dye/shampoo for men?
None. Stop dying your hair as a man.

Absolutely. It’s shaves very close. I use myself and I’ve been shaving my face for over 30 years😀.
I needed this info... Thank you very much and God bless you brother !
I got you my brother✊🏾
Thanks 👍. Good information
Babyliss is on my bucket list but for now I rock with the corded detailers. Been experimenting on my hair since I was like 10 😭🤣🤦🏽♂️
Those are great trimmers. I love those. The cordless ones are even better. Those are my go to trimmers.

How often should you cut your hair bald I usually go every 10 days?
If you want to keep it fresh. I would say every other day my friend. If you go 10 days. You can see the hair stubbles.
How do you sanitize the clippers when finished? I see that you said oil but is there a specific oil
All you need is clipper oil. This one will do you fine amzn.to/3Ug1pnj
