  • There are so many design options for cold process soap. This Tomato Garden Soap has a few that create a truly unique bar. There are melt and pour embeds, a charcoal pencil line, and a sprinkle of poppy seeds on top.
    Tomato powder and red palm oil are used for the orange-red color and carrot seed oil gives the bars a silky feeling. It’s scented with Cucumber Garden Fragrance Oil, which has notes of green vines, white flowers, and wood.
    For full step-by-step instructions with exact amounts used, visit this Soap Queen blog post:

    Always great to see a Soap Queen TV post waiting in my notifications 💕 I’ve only just discovered the benefits of gelling ( not intentionally...holy hot soap Batman!! ) so can personally appreciate the difference now. Love how you’ve shown the colour and texture variable in both.

    i have a question please. what is the difference between tomato powder and real tomato when it comes to skin benefits in soap? i have used natural tomato and aloe very on my skin and love it, but the shelf life is way too short. i have tried adding this to a melt and pour base, which i felt like came out a bit soft, and i am trying to find a way to get the same results with a melt and pour base. I am also trying to make these to sell, any recommendations?

    I have heard some horror stories about mixing your lye solution in glass. Do you think it is safe to use glass to mix lye water or would your recommend something else like stainless steel?

    • @bramble-berry
      @bramble-berry  6 років тому +3

      We use glass all the time safely and with great results. You can use either stainless steel or heat-resistant plastic if you prefer.

      Pyrex glass will eventually shatter as the glass is etched by the lye. You’re better off using hard plastic, but stainless steel is best. Jus5 make sure your container is stainless steel and not aluminum as lye will react badly with aluminum.

    • @hayleymchendry2378
      @hayleymchendry2378 5 років тому

      I used to use Pyrex but switched many years ago to using a stainless steel container out of safety concerns. An old stainless pot works great. As a bonus it weighs much less than a large Pyrex container and you can put its lid on if you are worried about anything getting in the lye while it's cooling.

    Hello dear. Ive been following your vids for some time and few months back i tried making my own soap.
    My recipe includes olive oil, coconut oil, and canola oil. Everything seems to works well in the start but after cutting the soap and using it, a gel kind of liquid(gooey) starts coming out from the soap. The gooey comes from the area which is in contact with the soap tray or any surface.Ive changed my lye but still every batch i make gives out sufficient amount of gooey liquid after using it.
    I would be very very grateful if you can guide me to get rid of this gooey from soap. I havent been able to find any solution on the internet as alot of soap makers are unfamiliar with it.

      Sounds like your soap is staying wet after using it. If that's the reason the soap is just dissolving a bit in the water. You need a soap dish that will allow the bar to dry out between uses. Also, if you use more hard oils (coconut, palm, shea, cocoa butter) and less soft oils (canola, olive, avocado) you will get a bar that does not dissolve as readily. A small amount of beeswax in a soap recipe can make an extremely hard bar that has a lower solubility. I hope this helps!

    • @bustedkeaton
      @bustedkeaton 5 років тому

      try adding some sodium lactate, for a harder bar. how long are you curing your bars after cutting?

    You should do more videos weekly. I love your channel but you only post a video every month or two. Maybe you could do more things on nail polish, more salt scrubs and lots of soap. Thank you

    Your videos are so great, and they teach me so much! Thank you for making these!
    I'm coming from your lotion making video to ask you a a question about making body creams. Do you have any familiarity with Bath & Body Works' triple moisture body cream? If so, could you do a video on making a triple moisture body cream? Regular lotion tends to still leave my skin dry after a while. I love Bath and Body Works' body creams, but they're so expensive. It would be so amazing to be able to make my own.

    Excellent video.
    It would be helpful to me if you placed the camera over the top of the table. I couldn't see the first furrow/ridge area. Generally speaking, I'm more interested in what the soap looks like than what the instructor looks like. Focusing the camera on her doesn't add value.
