The band were at their best in 1988. I saw them twice that year including Donnington. The American gig on Kissology is also the same too.

Loved Kiss since the beginning. The Revenge album was great. I had the privilege of opening for Kiss here in Buffalo New York in 2010. The band I was in at the time had a phenomenal time. The crew Doc McGhee & the entire band was great to us. They gave us a sound check fed us had our own dressing room. Their crew even took care of our gear. Gene & the band talked to us for awhile before they went on. They were all great plus Paul’s now unfortunately late guitar tech Francis introduced us on stage. Looks like a cool box set I’ll have to check it out.
Woah what a cool story!! What band were you in? I caught the summer 2010 tour in Camden, which probably was around the same time frame as the buffalo show.
@@TheRecordSpinner I was in a band called DoDriver we were from Buffalo we opened for them at Darien Lake. I believe there's some UA-cam videos of us opening for them.

I remember seeing KISS on the beach in Galveston, Texas when they first took their makeup off I believe it was. It was Spring Break and they were putting on a free show but I'm not sure what year it was? I'm guessing it was around 1987 / 1988 maybe? There was a stage built on the sand just out there on the beach. It wasn't huge but it wasn't small. The crowd ruined the show though. I didn't bring any recording equipment because I didn't want to get sand in it and I was going to be down there for 3 days. I learned the hard way about bringing electronics down to the beach. Anyhow, they only played about four or five songs and then got real angry and left the stage. The crowd was wasted and people were throwing beer bottles, cups of liquid which I'm guessing was alcohol, and just ranting and raving and even booing the band. There couldn't have been more than 500 people at the time on the beach and KISS was sounding good and acting cool until a beer bottle either hit or almost hit one of them. They got ticked off fast and more or less cussed out the audience and then left the stage not to come back. I don't blame them. If the show had started closer to the time the people were getting to the beach there probably wouldn't have been as many drunken idiots in the crowd. I have to say I was amazed at how the crowd was acting and I was in it. I wasn't throwing anything or doing any of that stupid stuff. I wish I could remember what year this was and I wish I had brought my tape recorder or DAT or whatever I had at that time just to have captured the event.

@@mumu-ib5vk Thanks for that info! I was thinking about it after I made my post and I started thinking maybe it was closer to 1985 when I saw them. I didn't really think it was 1983 but maybe it was. They may have had their makeup off for a year or so but it was still kind of a new topic at the time. I need to try to look up concert data and see if I can find any to figure out just what the date was. I'm pretty sure it was Spring Break but it could have just been a summer radio station deal down on the beach. I do remember it was a free concert too.
One of the things that was cool was that on the trip from about 100 mi north of Galveston down to Galveston, my friends and I stopped off at the Astrodome because Cheap Trick was out there in that parking lot doing a small show and meet and greet. I got to meet those guys and then we left from there and drove on down to Galveston where KISS was playing.
I'm going to have to track down and see if I can figure out what the date and year was because it's really got me curious now. Thanks again for the information too!
@@mumu-ib5vk Oh wow, I was able to find something and it was actually 3/11/1990 when I saw them. Maybe they had put their makeup back on instead of being when they had taken it off? I remember there was a lot of controversy on the radio over the topic but obviously this wasn't when they had taken it off.
The write-up on this is interesting and there was no way there were 20,000 people at the show. There might have been 20,000 people up and down the beach but this is definitely the show I can tell just from what was written about it. They mention at the end a dispute on whether the crowd was unruly or not. It definitely was and while a lot of people were just there having a good time and not causing any trouble, there were a lot of people there causing problems and throwing things up on stage and yelling out insults to the band too. When the beer bottles started flying with the water balloons and all kinds of other things, that's when it got problematic. It says at the show people thought it was cut short but they were only supposed to play a few songs. But I clearly remember them walking off stage as they started a song and just stopped it and pretty much said FU to the crowd after Paul I believe it was was hit by a bottle. Whether that was going to be their last song or not I don't know but looking at the set list that was supposed to be played I don't think it was. I don't think they played much more than about 15 to 20 minutes maybe. I really wished I had recorded that one just for the historical sake and being able to remember the details. I don't buy that it was going to be a short show. They left because the crowd was really acting like jerks or at least a lot of people in the crowd were.

I gave my 5 year old niece a record player for Xmas and when she opened it she freaked out and shouted out Its A Wecord Spinner!! Why is this Revenge Kronicles not allowed to be sold on Discogs or Ebay? If I buy this how would be able to sell it someday?
What is sound quality? Is it soundboard or audience recording?
