Honestly as a person that doesn't look for how an actor or actress looks in a drama or movie, im really tired of these type of reviews. It's petty for citizens to complain about it, do they honestly believe everyone was stunning looking back in history?
I agree with most of the list, except on Cheng Yi. His interpretation of the character in mysterious lotus book was actually outstanding, and he was quite handsome. Also, I think it is unfair to compare the interpretation of Gong Ju in a masterpiece such as Word of Honor with other roles, actors must be versatile to fit different roles.
It doesn't seem fair to be commenting on actors' looks because it's all so subjective. I agree that hairstyles and costumes have a lot to do with how actors come across to the audience but their acting skills and the dramas' qualities are most important. I definitely have favorites that can do no wrong and some of them are ones criticized here, but I"ll forgive and forget.
You keep criticizing the looks of these actors and actresses forgetting about their acting skills and personalities. Most of them have done so many plastic surgeries just to please viewers but they're still not satisfied. They're still beautiful no matter what! Ahhh!
WOW! What a bunch of nonsense. Don’t even think of criticising my favourites like Cheng Yi, Lu Yuning, and Gong Jun. All the others are not bad either. Who cares how they look if they can deliver a scene.
These drama should be about their acting skills not their looks it is utterly shameful that there is this kind of of judgment in asian dramas those people who think they have a right to judge these actors think they are entitled to bad mouth these people these actors performe a fake drama when it's over they go home to a very real life these judgemental people are the scourge of an actors life but no different from the USA we have our fill of trolls that think they have a right to run people's lives here also they all need to mind their own boring lives and move on
Nothing wrong with these guys look especially LYN. It’s better to have good actors then pretty actors. No wonder Chinese movie now days are boring. Most of the lead characters can’t act.
What the hell ! It’s not their faults if wigs and make up here and there a bit much or less ! It’s their stylists fault ! They just do the acting and trying to deliver their long lines at times with everything around and going on ! You try it see if you can or you probably bleeps ! 😮
I find these types of videos disgusting! None of this is true and all those actors and actresses did a great job and looks fantastic and their roles! He just need to stop doing this!
some pop in costume :everyone in till the end of the moon, especially the leads, who wore the costumes, not vice versa; but you are not wrong in that some actors do not have a lot of charisma. To dissect actors and say they are ugly is viciously unfair and wrong. But yes, actresses and actors often do not have the presence to stand up to the costumes….And some are rubbish at acting, sorry. We agree absolutely with your analysis. It would help to have better stories and dialogue, too, because even our favorite this year, Till the End…fell apart in the later stages (only bearable b e c a u s e of the actors) and made n o s e n s e at all, plus was depressing! Give actors better material, how about it. Thanks for this sterling clip, well done.
They are all very good looking in real life, but in some costume dramas, they don't look like themselves, may be the hairstyle, the outfit they wear, the makeup, lighting...It's the director's fault if their stars don't look good in their films!
Some of you so called Netizens need your eyes checked, Gong Jun cold wear a trash bag and that man would still look GOOD. I know y'all are blind. I didn't see nothing wrong with is styling in the legend of Anle..My issue with drama was with the crappy writing in the 3rd arch of the show. That's what you should've been complaining about. The Longest Promise was another POORLY written drama. I only watched because of Xiao Zhan. That drama had one of the best list of actors for a C-Drama, yet even they could not rise above that the crappy writing they were given. The actress, Ren Min, didn't care for her. It was not about how she looked but more so her acting was bad, and she was just not the best actress for that role. Ao Ruipeng, Wrong Carriage Right Groom. I enjoyed this drama thoroughly. Very funny at times. I didn't have any issues with the ML's appearance. If he had dark circles under his eyes then it was in character because he was playing someone who was sick, duh! I haven't seen the other dramas yet.
What these commentators saying they are ugly, what they think they are straight drop down from angels above, I think Chinese netizens are jobless, always complaining they are never satisfied. I pity actors for living in that country 😢
The critiques are a tad stupid and shallow. It's perfectly normal for some actors to suit one style and not another. audience should take it up with the casting directors, costume managers and producers. to call these actors 'ugliest' is a bit too much.
I think everyone has their own charm to however they look. There is nothing wrong with it. If the criticism of them not good enough. Why don't they go make the effort of portraying the character of handsome and pretty. And see if themselves can be qualified to be called actors too.
This may seem petty but if we are not demanding about the physical appearance of the actors, we end up with a bunch of ugly people (who are sometimes supposed to be beautiful in the script) as happens here in Europe.
I only agree about Ren Min, the rest was more due to wrong hairstyle, costumes for their features, the others was the roles they were given, on one it was the FL that didn’t seem the right fit for that role.
All depends on viewers preference! No comments ! But I agree with most of your list, except Liu YuNing who looks fine most of the times in any of his dramas! Of course, it's only my opinion!
To be fair, modern drama or costume drama, none of these actors/actress mentioned here have ever stood out to me. And, no, it's not just about their looks. Their acting are all pretty meh. Gong Jun's acting has never really done much for me, but his character in the _Legend of Anle_ was especially bland, and didn't help his case at all. Liu Yuning(who is a fantastic singer, btw) is a pretty mediocre actor. I don't think he's really lead actor material in terms of looks or acting. I've only seen him in _The Long Ballad_ and _The Legend of Anle_ though.
about RM , She is more suitable for the role of the heroine's friend. The problem isn't her face. But they are posters and photos that are not similarly to videos
I guess if you're too good looking or just average or plain, you are open to criticism about your looks and not your acting ability by Chinese critics. Personally, I don't think Zuao Lusi is a beauty, she's ok but she is one fine actress. I'm looking at these actors from a Western perspective so it's probably way different then those of Chinese netizens.
Probably could have phrased the vid title better.... "miscasted" vs "ugliest" but it's all about the clicks. Right!?! I clicked. 😁 With that said, for visuals... I can't see Ding Yuxi as a period drama, romantic lead. This just doesn't work. I only watched his drama that had Zhao Lusi (because of her) but his character kept throwing me out of the moment. When his videos come up on my feed, I swipe on past. But, he could play a comedic lead, and definitely a modern genre character.
To judge them by their looks rather than works is unfair 😢 Realistically, nothing in life is equally likable or unpleasant... hence some will work and others not so much. Frankly speaking some producers also just ride the coat tails of the actors' past success and therefore put in less effort toward the general outlay of the projects and some claim that it's the budget. Moreover, actors don't always have too much say on the projects they take on since it is decided by their agencies. Even when they have a say, they can't always turn down all projects in order to maintain goodwill. All in all, can people be more focused on appreciating them and if you feel itched then scroll on to the next... The world would be a much better place if we spread more positivity than negativity 😁
I appreciate this video, however also disagree with it. No one should feel the need to meet beauty standards. Instead, each and every one of the mentioned actors and actresses should feel proud to lay new paths of beauty uniqueness for others. I’d rather enjoy watching a series of talented actors than sit through a series of “idols” who don’t know how to act.
Well only Chinese and expert Wuxia/Xanxia dramas can have a voice in this matter. They onow better the aesthetics of the genre. Neverhless, what I see in the stills, they don't favor those aactirs.
Since you seem to be a yizhan family member I will respect you but please this is too much and the caption is not good at all, try to think twice before making your content
I prefer to only watch films where the male and female leads are attractive and nice-looking vice those who are not, such as those who need to get dental work done. Unfortunately, those with earlobes that stick out can't do much about their ears. Make-up artists can only do so much to improve someone's appearance, so the actors/actresses need to help themselves to improve their looks. I agree that hairstyles make a big difference in appearance. Granted actors and actresses come under a lot of scrutiny but this is the career they chose and their appearance plays a large part in their success.
Are you beautiful or handsome then ?! According to who ?! Stop being so critical, everyone beauty is different according to whoever finds them beautiful or handsome. Have you seen Hollywood top tear actors ?! They are not always beautiful or handsome but they do the jobs! 😊 have a good day !
You prefer beautiful actors with boring acting I guess! Focus on the movie not on their looks. Very soon you will expect them to turn themselves into plastics just to please you.
You're brave and honest posting such provocative comment, inspiring me to shed off any shred of hypocrisy too 😄 An actor's appearance does affect my attitude towards a drama, especially a love story. I enjoy a drama more when the leads, at least, are both good-looking and talented. In general, beautiful actors help me forget the ugliness around me, including the one I see in the mirror 😆 It's like watching a beautiful view, it lifts your mood. As poet Ralph Waldo Emerson said, "If the eyes are made for seeing, then beauty is its own excuse for being". I agree with what you said about those who choose acting as their career. They need to take care of their appearance. It's a basic tool of their trade.
Honestly as a person that doesn't look for how an actor or actress looks in a drama or movie, im really tired of these type of reviews. It's petty for citizens to complain about it, do they honestly believe everyone was stunning looking back in history?

I think Ao Ruipeng had dark circles in Wrong Carriage Right Groom because he was to appear ill to fool his relatives. It's part of the drama.
Cheng Yi in Lotus casebook was a 10/10, he fought in a war and came back after 10years, he should've been older if any means
Nothing wrong with these guys look especially LYN. It’s better to have good actors then pretty actors. No wonder Chinese movie now days are boring. Most of the lead characters can’t act.
Gong jun was looking super handsome and please you can't say someone ugly, everyone is beautiful in their own way

As an older American woman, it’s the slicked back hair making ears stick out and the front headbands that distract me. Just saying
Love them all don’t think any are ugly
Some look fantastic in costume while some look better in modern. Not all have the facial structure to be able to look good in the wig.
I find these types of videos disgusting! None of this is true and all those actors and actresses did a great job and looks fantastic and their roles! He just need to stop doing this!

Some people are sooooooo shallow. Wow!!! How judgemental. Do these people ever look at themselves first before opening their mouths, my goodness.
Yeah that's why I'm impressed with till the end of the moon costumes even supporting character's costumes were so good 💯

tbh, based on the photos, these actors' visuals seem to not fit costume dramas. But their looks are more than acceptable in modern dramas.
What these commentators saying they are ugly, what they think they are straight drop down from angels above, I think Chinese netizens are jobless, always complaining they are never satisfied. I pity actors for living in that country 😢
They looked cute as always
I don't know ding yuxi looked pretty handsome in romance of a twin flower
But his guard was the best!
