What I was amazed at was how sharp the razor was. With each shave, no layer of hair remains. The barber also demonstrates a lot of confidence and experience. The result was very good.
I remember when I was in my teens to early twenties, me and my dad would go to this old timey barber by our house. The guy had to have been minimum in his late seventies. He was a WWII veteran and became a barber later in life. He was the kind of barber where half the session was working on you, and the other half telling stories. Unfortunately, I forgot his name, I wanna say it was Art, but I could be wrong. Anyway, as soon as I started growing facial hair, my dad told him to use a straight razor on me. Being a teenager, I thought he was joking, but he was serious. As you can imagine, I was terrified. He put the towel around my neck, lathered my face, and finally took out the razor. I was literally sweating bullets as he glided it on the leather strap. Finally, he started shaving my face. The blade on my skin felt like nothing before. It hurt a little bit at first, especially on the sideburns and tight areas, but felt so smooth gliding down my cheek. Then the cleaning and aftershave. So refreshing. I'll say this, it was the cleanest shave I've ever had. After that, he would include a shave every time I went for a haircut. Did that for years. Literally, It's something every man should experience. The feeling of another man using a razor sharp tool to groom you is very humbling. Dare I say, it helps make you feel like more of a man. Thinking about it now, I'm glad my dad introduced me to it. Unfortunately, our old barber eventually retired and passed away. Ever since then, I've been using disposable razors. However, seeing this video reminded me of what it was like to get my face shaved by a straight razor. I really need to go back to traditional barbers. The kind who are men that help make you look like a man.

You're right about the barber not being that old but there's no reason to think the barber is unhygienic. He would just sterilize the razor between customers.

That curve on the razor seems to help.

This guy is a wizard with that blade ! Wow !
This guy is a pro. I tried this before and ended up with like 30 cuts on my face
😂
Say what you like, but the guy certainly knows how to sharpen a blade.
He gagged tho? That should disqualify

Dont mind the complainers about cleanliness. I'm more facinated about the culture and how men used to groom themselves, Sort of a glimpse to the past.
Many men in the usa shave like this.

Great shave.
I love the cream mixing “bowl” made from an item from the trash can.
His skills are insane
Absolutely fantastic skill! Unreal, this guy is probably irreplaceable these days. I cant imagine there are too many following in his foot steps
I like how he strops on the palm of his hand for a touch up on the blade😊

My reasoning is I couldn't have another human hold a knife that close to my throat
That's probably one of the closest shaves I've ever seen
