For me, this is the greatest example of successfully joining direction, editing, acting, photography, musical score, and production design together to tell a story without words. To have them all in juxtaposition with a rider and horse becoming one makes it magic.
Alright, thank you kindly for sharing. Please, maybe another day. It's my day any many mothers' days. This isn't making myself this way much more because I grew up with a movie. This is meaningful for me. Different circumstances
Love the little ballet between the two friends. Love how Alex seduces The Black into letting him on board. Love how the spontaneity of Alex in the water, clearing his head and doing all the things you do when you fall into the water off a wild stallion. Love how The Black turns back to Alex when he falls off the first time. Overwhelmed by the aerial shot as they begin the final run. Overwhelmed by their coming together as one, and Alex letting go, putting all his trust in The Black. Love how the final note of is the sound of the waves. I love this movie so much, I tracked down a small bronze replica of Alex's statue of The Black. One of my more cherished possessions. So yeah, it's okay. ;)
I listened daily to my daughter play her flute to the main movie song over and over again. Never got tired of her beautiful playing. She played from elementary school into her college years. She performed at weddings and hockey games intermission for Detroit Red Wings. What a proud mom I am she has that talent. ❤
One of the most beautiful and compelling scenes in movie history. I never get tired of watching this. Cass Ole is immortal!!! One of the things I love most is his natural Arabian head - none of this "dish-faced" caved-in look with the tiny turned-up muzzle like My LIttle Pony. Horses were horses then.
You Im glad for that too and that they didnt pick a horse with those kind of features, because in the book its states that he was too big and burly to be an arabian. If alwyas implied that he was a highly bred racehorse though they didn't have his papers. In later books Alec in his travels to Arabia he finds the Blacks mother I believe, a chestnut thoroughbred, but its been so long since I read the books, I can't remember. I think given the time frame the story was written in it makes sense too because it was in earlier days of throughbred breeding and racing.
THERE WAS NO BETTER FEELING IN THE WORLD RIDING MY OWN HORSE IN THE BEACH FOR THE FIRST TIME WITH SONG BLASTING IN MY HEADPHONES!!!! LONG LIVE THE BLACK!!!
Cass Ole was and is wonderful as The Black Stallion. He is missed by millions of people even by me. Cass Ole owned this role so did Kelly Reno. Plus him being a Texas bred Arabian stallion is even more amazing. One of my riding instructors actually got to meet him. I'm so jealous of her. I love Cass Ole so much!
Cass was wonderful. His legacy continues through his grandson Cass Ole Stahr in southern CA. He is the Foundation Stallion of my breeding program to keep the line going.
I love how relaxing the music is in this movie and it’s great for meditation and I find it really interesting that that music was used in the theatrical trailer of the 1981 original movie Clash Of The Titans and an MGM/UA Family Entertainment promo in 1995 such nostalgia that brings back memories
This whole movie alone is what started my love of horses with the belief that horses are my spirit animal heh and I have a copy of this movie and the Black Stallion Returns on DVD and still watch it and love it as much as I did as a kid
Me too, Harley. I'm an old man and I've gotten that feeling every time I've watched it, at least twice a year since first seeing it on the screen when it was first released.
I went to see this movie as a kid. It blew me away. It was one of the first movies I remember going to see during the day. Everything about the film was memorizing. Cinematography & direction was incredible.
Good morning my dear one! You are amazing! you are awesome! I just love you the way you are! there something beautiful! something strange! but beautiful, and I am amazed! I smiled , challenging! You are beautiful!
Many of you will find this interesting.....the underwater scenes are from the Mediterranean. The helicopter shots are all from a beach in Oregon, filmed three years later.

The Black Stallion
That tail flagged is a sure sign of a very happy horse.
This film excels at artistic achievement posing as a children's film.

I love this scene since I was a boy. Beautiful music to go with it
It's kind of martial in parts--intended to evoke Alexander as a boy first riding Bucephalus. So also in memory of Alex's father.
ohhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh my HANZO!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I dare all the current directors to make a movie like this now
I did, An Elephant's Journey.
