I heard Little Roy live twice in the last 8 months at the Withlacoochee Bluegrass Festival. He's in his early 80's and hasn't lost a step or a second. The 8th wonder of the world.
There will Never be another group like them. (200 years from now, people will run upon this video on youtube.. and wonder.. Whatever happened to real music??)
What a set. I’ve seen the Lewis family so many times through the years and this set has some new material it seems like. Love it. Thank you for this film. Brilliant.
Every summer when I was a kid I looked forward to the 2 festivals my grandparents took me to, Freddie Sander’s festival in McAlister, Ok, and Bill Grant’s festival in Hugo, Ok. And what was the highlight of those festivals for me? It was seeing The Lewis Family. The day they were scheduled to play, I would watch for their bus to arrive. Then I’d try and find an empty chair front and center so I could see and hear everything. I love that this video is here because all of the family I grew up watching that have since past on are here, Pop, Wallace, Miggie, and Miss Sunshine, sweet Polly. An added bonus is Jeff and Sheri are here too! Thanks for the upload. So many good memories are here.
Me too. Hugo and McAlester were the two we’d be sure to see. We went to several others and the Lewis Family were possibly the overall best. And the hats up against all the top bluegrass legends. I still like be hearing little Roy lol be! God blessed us
Where the soul never dies? (@24:08) Oh? Did you know that terms like "immortal soul," "never-dying soul," and "eternal soul" don't appear anywhere in the Bible? That's because man does not have a soul, he is a soul. _And the LORD God formed man of the dust of the ground, and breathed into his nostrils the breath of life; and man became a living soul._ (Gen. 2: 7, KJV)
Banjos are too loud, bass not heard. Live sound engineer did not have the mix set correctly, frequency cancellations are present. This was mixed from crowd prospective. Always mix from what they call drummers prospective even if there is no drums and all instruments will be heard. This band is good live, the sound don't do them justice though. Incompetent sound engineer is the problem here.
