What do you guys think the reason is that so many people are downsizing their bag collection? Is it the current trends, inflation or something else?

Too many bags going by wanting the look. Eventually realizing I only need one for each occasion. Don’t need all the colors and shapes

Great video. I’m turning 39 at the end of March and I’ve just sold off two bags. My lifestyle has changed. I’m a mom of two and full-time executive for a small business working from home. As much as I wish I had somewhere to take some of these bags, I rarely get a date night out, so it’s just over kill. I need more practical bags and not so many of them! lol. There is a piece of me that still wants to buy some new pieces, but I can also use that money to go on a family vacation. I pick the memories. 💕

I wonder if the cost of living has something to do with it and these UA-camrs are thinking that owning 40 luxury bags isn’t a good look right now? If so that’s very short sighted because the cost of living crisis will end. I am old enough to have lived through several and they always end in time. Then they may very much regret having sold so much stuff they love, especially if they lost a lot of money doing so.
I will never be a minimalist, it’s just not in my personality. I am loving the old money, quiet luxury trend because I have been dressing that way since the 1980s. It’s my style.

      Great video, Angelique.
      I love your hair.
I’ve always dressed monochromatic, because I don’t know how to dress any other way, lol.
I prefer higher end clothing, in classic styles, to anything trendy. IF I do happen to like anything trendy, I will not spend a lot of money on that item.
      TFS.

I have 39 bags at the moment but it has been changing. I have been moving on bags that I’m not using and then bring in bags that I know will be more used in my lifestyle.

I am traditional. I love loud luxury! As a strong woman, I buy what I like and wear what I want. These trends come and go faster than any regular person can keep up. For me it personally sucks to keep listening to trends. You have made lifestyle changes and I appreciate that and will watch and listen before I would an unboxing.

Apart frm us realizing its a total nonsense of non stop buying latest trends i think it has come to a point where no fresh or novel designs hv been released and all look like repeat of previous designs

I don’t understand the sudden trend of selling most of your bags. That might be doable for influencers but not for regular people… you lose a lot of money doing that. I think influencers can get away with it bc they will turn around and keep buying more bags which helps their channel (not saying this applies to you!) I wouldn’t recommend it for most.

When Covid hit and we couldn't travel, it opened the opportunity for me to buy luxury bags. I started early 2021 and it's a rabbithole i end up wit 16bags😂. I wasn't lacking self-esteem or having any existential crises,I just love nice things and there's nothing wrong with that. Don't beat yourself because others find their enlightenment by letting go of their lux items.I'm gonna let go of repeats(Speedy😂) and just keep ideally 8-10 lux bags to rotate regularly because seriously 16 is too much for my lifestyle. Im no UA-camr so im sure most of them feel the pressure of new unboxings to cope up. I also notice influencers aiming for the Birkin and justifying it with whatever reasons but over 10k bags aren't practical and realistic. You gonna go broke collecting high end bags you're scared to use. I buy bags that i love and useful for daily. If you love Chanel or Hermes its ok but we all know that is not sustainable for most. But if you can, suit yourself and enjoy it.

I think a lot of people are also realizing how insane it is managing such a large collection. Then to keep on adding more pieces every few weeks or months, the collection starts to get a little bit repetitive also (same bag style but in different colors or sizes). We truly only need a few really high quality pieces. And I think the scarcity mindset plays into a lot of impulse purchases. I had close to 60 luxury bags at one point, been slowly selling them and now down to 30. I'm planning to downsize further to around 15-20 just to have a small variety for all occasions and situations, there's only really a few (weddings/formal, casual, and travel).

  • @LowBuyLuxLife
    @LowBuyLuxLife 11 місяців тому +5

I have a bit of both. Quiet and loud. I lean towards quiet but I do what I want for the day based on how I feel. I’m downsizing my collection regardless because I cannot possibly use all of them on rotation

Actually , I watch a you tuber on here and she had gone to minimalism and was buying less luxury bags before the trend started.
I think yes luxury and minimal can go together. Luxury can be minimal, minimal is a style It is not just a life style, not evveryone lives in a apartment with one chair and cup.
To me if you look at it in a style way, a luxury bag can cost thousands and still be minimal it doesn't have to scream what it is and those who know know.

Old money is earned not a bloggers selling point to keep them viable. It’s just a temporary trend to them, but for those who earned it long term, it’s their lifestyle.

Maybe this is an inappropriate question but I wonder how UA-camrs fund these purchases. Some have disclosed they have other means of high income (real estate development etc) but I see a lot of women who look kind of normal who have 50+ lux bags and I’m like…really? Not in a judging way bc I also love luxury but just really curious how all of this is possible?

Hello Angélique! It seems to me that you replaced your shopping addiction with tattoo addiction. It seems very recent and sudden to me. Which isn't a bad thing, I'm tattooed myself and I really like it even though american traditional tatto is not my style. A video talking about this and what it means for you to be tattooed would be very interesting. It's a topic that can be very intimate so it's understandable if you don't want to talk about it. I love your tattoos. :-)

I liked this video. I consider myself a minimalist, but I don't like the colours that come with this. I have two longchamp roseau bags. One is in black and one in cream white. Than I have one in white with pink from guess and one armani in plum. That's more than enough. I spent most of my money on my nails and luxury beauty. I'm also a minimalist with beauty. I don't like to own a lot of things. It gives me anxiety. Just a few is more than enough.
