Great video dude! I've become much more aware of the Vaetir in my areas and acknowledging // respecting them. My Husvaetir are generally peaceful, fun, and a bit mischievous lol. Still trying to navigate the waters on the Landvaetir in my area. Thanks for this info!
I agree, I live in an apartment complex and have questions about properly cleansing, warding, and proper husvaettir care and feeding in a space like that.
Do you think it would be disrespectful to the husvaettir to leave a cup of coffee on the alter all day while at work? I've been sitting and visiting with mine in the mornings, sharing a cup of coffee. Then I leave their coffee until I'm finished getting ready for work where I pour it into the yard. But I don't really "feel" it, you know? You can just feel when it's time to do away with the offerings. So, I'm thinking it needs more time. But to do so I'd have to leave it all day. And I don't want to upset the spirit while trying to make it happy. 😅
Go with the feel on it. I leave mine out all day and make a mini ritual of taking all the offerings out at once when I set up for the next round. How long you leave them out is between you and the husvaettir. Having an offering on the altar is a sign of respect to them, so leaving it there is like leaving them a yard sign that says “hey look! I’m important and my people honor me!”
Awesome! Thank you so much! I really like the idea of doing a mini ritual. I'm going to implement something like that into my morning ritual and see if that works any better. I greatly appreciate your feedback. 😁
Thank you so much for this video! I have tried to find information on the vaettir but can't seem to find any. About two years ago I ran a I would say a pretty successful farm on about 4 acres, I even made a alter outside specifically for my hausvaettir but I stopped making offerings to it and would only bare gifts on holidays. Big mistake... I ended up loosing a calf and 16 chickens to coyotes, four goats to neighbors dog, my whole garden to rabbits, and gophers ended up making a burrow under my house! They completely ate away the flooring and were nesting in the air duct, and now I see where it really went wrong. My hausvaettir was too weak and let the landvaettir in. I have another 40 acres in the middle of nowhere where this issue has really been concerning me... It is wild land what should I do do better my relationship with the spirits of the land? How would my Norse faith help me with the native spirits of the land?
I've been watching you for a bit now and there's something you say every episode but have not to my Knowladge explained and I've never heard anywhere else but here so I'm just going to ask...what do you mean by "recon heathen"? Cause I'm a veteran and for me recon means something very specific and I doubt it's the same as what you mean.
Ah, yeah that would be a disconnect there. Recon in this instance means reconstructionist in approach. Reconstructionist Heathens tend to focus on trying to rebuild Heathenry as it was during a certain time period. It’s too long to breakdown in this comment section, but I’ll try to revisit it again for a better explanation.
The Raven's Call - Ep 71 - Care and Feeding of the Husvaettir ua-cam.com/video/kEYSw9cK17M/v-deo.html If you haven’t watched this one yet, it should help a bit. The short of it is, yes, they can be inherited, or fresh ones can be invited in. Case by case basis. As far as telling if you have one, if there is life to a house, there is a spirit there. The trick becomes getting to know it and establishing a relationship. A house without a Husvaettir rapidly begins to turn derelict and die.
I was wondering about the distinction between alfar and vaettir, can an alf or jotun be a land spirit? Do vaettir exist only on Midgard? Or do they crossover into other worlds? Just some curiosities... I was wondering if you’ve ever done a video about the alfar I don’t recall you having one, if not, I would recommend it. Thank you.
Love this information. Very interesting understanding of the difference between the two, and how to work with them.

I'd love a video on the vaettir in city areas.
I’ll see what I can work up.

A book recommendation regarding this; Vaesen by Johan Egerkrans.
Beautifully illustrated book, with some good insights.
Thanks, I’ll check it out

@@EricWordWeaverSjerven I know what reconstruction heathens are, but Deffinetly a topic for a future video. Thank you for clarifying.
I'm really new to this idea. Can we inherit Hausvattir? How can we tell if we already have one?

This is a good one, the context is fairly complex, so it’ll make a good video. I’ll see what I can pull together
