The Video Assistant Referee was first introduced to provide clear-cut decisions on games and was seen as the next big step in making football great. First used at the 2018 World Cup, it showed plenty of promise but ever since has become one of the most controversial aspects of our game. You'd be hard-pressed to find a weekend of football in any league that lacks VAR drama nowadays and it only seems to be getting worse. Many people just want it gone while others feel that just a few tweaks can make it seamless. Today we're here to talk about 5 such tweaks to the system that need to be enforced immediately.

On the HT/FT - the game is not officially over until the referee leaves the pitch. That’s why referees can hand out red and yellows after the full time whistle for discretions.
I think the decision to have the ref take a look at it through VAR should be by call of the manager. But only a certain amounts of attemps can be used. Just like tennis players get to use a certain amount of line calls to challenge the umpire's call if they think a ball was in or out. And when the call is correct maybe it doesn't count as being used up.
Agree with you @damyvande... but when manager call ref for like you said line challenge then doesn’t matter whatever decision was right or wrong the call was used one less and when call was made referee should check pitch site monitor no one else

@@HerrZeus true. If referee has a good game, and there are challenges remaining, the manager will just challenge to time waste/halt momentum
Referees are there to rig the game don’t forget that.
VAR should be more lenient.
Human error makes the game more fun and we can't expect every single touch or position to be perfect to score goals.
Having a foot offside doesn't make any difference.
I say that if more of you is onside than offside it counts.
Blocking a defender or GK while offside should be called as offside.
i agree with this and an example of blocking the defender is the city game and the gk the tottenham game
Most important would be always check Var for a penalty. They made a mistake in the World Cup final when Di Maria dropped himself. Ridiculous the ref didn’t bother to verify it

VAR makes football boring nowadays...if we have VAR now next coming years we won't need referees and linemen because machines will be spectating the match.

problem number one precedes VAR, since the off-side started to depend on the assessment of "interfering" with the game, there have been controversial interpretations
There is also the case of the goal in the world cup. Japan vs Spain. There hasn't been a single camera angle that shows if the ball was completely out of bounds or not. Even tho they could have used the same technology as they are using with the offside rule or the goal line check.
I thought football was an industry that makes billions but they can't even get more camera angles🤣

That Rashford decision has nothing to do with VAR. Everyone knows Rashford was in an offside position, but it was the ref's interpretation of the offside rule. Nothing to do with VAR

Finally a VAR decision against City and now they complain about it, they have selective amnesia, we all remember Rodri's handball against Everton not being given, which caused Everton to lose the match and ultimately City won the league by one point, but City fan's didn't say a thing then because it worked in their favour. Every club's fans complain when a decision goes against them but are quiet when it helps them, it just the nature of fans, we're all the same.
NO WE ARE NOT. I have always spoken out when Bayern gets a dubious decision. It is embarrassing to win by simulating or referees mistake. I mean I loved Robben but do you think I was happy when he dived and got a pen, NO!
@@kristjanpeemot3477 That wasn't a VAR decision. We are talking about VAR, not referee mistakes. Every club has benefited from referee mistakes. I'm sure you still celebrated though when Bayern won, so you weren't that bothered by it.

@@kristjanpeemot3477 I didn't say I want my team to win at all costs, nowhere did I say that, that's your interpretation of what I said and you're wrong. Of course I want my team to win, in fact I'm in agreement with you, there's a right way and a wrong way, but I'm being truthful, you still celebrate a victory however it comes, we all do. And if you're being truthful, so would you, you don't get pissed off when your team wins because a referee mistake, you do what every fan does - you say, "Okay, it wasn't the ideal way to win, but we won and I'll take it," and you quickly move on, the only ones who still and complain are those who are fans of the team that lost. It is what it is. That's the game sometimes.
Before even watching the clip, I can say one thing. VAR should be equal for all, but as we know this isn´t true. So many situations last years when the bigger team/person has advantage to get easy penalty or have offside that suddenly isn´t counted and so on. Almost always those technologies are only helping the bigger teams and players(so many divings from Neymar, Suarez and Ronaldo, but almost always they get a penaly instead of yellow card for simulation). All those strange penalties for Argentina that WC, but not even one of them was checked or disallowed. As soon as argentinian player felt in the box, immediate penalty from the ref. Even if the rules allow it, it still gives the feeling that those calls were made on purpose. Also teams like City, Real, Barca etc. are so many times benefited by those technologies.
No matter what are the rules, they should be used equally to everyone. Not to get them counted when the bigger team needs it, and to not even look if it could benefit the not so big team/player. This is No1 rule that should exist.

As a Rangers fan and regularly cheated out of points ,there’s only one solution and it’s not good,no result stands until 24 hours after a match where footage can be properly scrutinised ,not pretty but at the moment it’s a total joke

Number 6 - Players' and Managers' request for VAR should be ACCEPTED, not sanctioned with yellow card. If a player or manager gets yellow card for requesting the VAR, he got official warning. This is the biggest disgrace since the day VAR became available in Bulgaria. If there is justice, then VAR should be immediately fixed or removed from the game.

FIFA offside camera is bird view but VAR is not.
All VAR does is make matches easier to fix for the innately corrupt FA and hugely powerful rich owners of the big clubs. The amount of money bet on the premier league must be astronomical. I am 100% convinced this is the case

I hate var. it ruins the game. If someone’s 1 cm offsides who cares. The only time it should be used is when there’s violent contact, BUT EVEN STILL. There are 2 linesman AND A FOURTH OFFICIAL

it’s simple. rashford was offside, so he shouldn’t be allowed to make actions towards the ball. had rashford not interfered the defender could’ve prevented the goal. because rashfords actions towards the ball from an offside position directly affected the goal being scored, the goal should be ruled offside
