Michael was and will be the greatest artist in the world. He has a beautiful voice, his dance steps are perfect, his lyrics are meaningful, his songs are full of love and compassion. Thank you so much for your analysis of this song, I enjoyed your reaction and it's really awesome to hear your professional comment!!!! You are so right Michael is so emotional and passionate and his song is very powerful!
If you wanted to watch Michael’s ghost short film it’s available for a short period of time in high quality on his official UA-cam channel. I personally think it’s one of his most important pieces of works.
Wow what a fantastic reaction, so pleased you saw this, big congratulations for the recommendation. I bet you watched this a few times, has to be MJ best.
The pose that Michael Jackson did at the end was actually Sammy Davis Jr's signature pose, but MJ definitely made it his... Sammy was definitely an influence in Michael's life.
This is such a beautiful song and performance. I remember watching this live and being so moved by Michael’s original song and performance, just as you are, today. Michael and Sammy 2 greats. Sammy was indeed, one of Michael’s idols and inspiration.
Actually, it wasn't recorded in 1990. It was recorded at the Shrine Auditorium on November 13. 1989 but was broadcast on February 4. 1990. Great reaction though:) Your knowledge about music and popular culture history is amazing btw! So insightful and 100% true!
Michael performed so many beautiful songs, but his song is amazing gentle and emotional, and so wonderful! He had a voice like an angel. Love you Michael, so much!
Don't forget Michael came on after Whitney Houston and if you watch her performance it was a 10/10 and no artist would have wanted to come on after that but Michael did stole the night

Sammy Davis Jr. in my opinion, is one of the greatest performers to ever walk this earth, up there with Dean and Frank, Ray and Louis, Ella and Billie, there is a 1969 live performance of Sammy singing What Kind Of Fool Am I, it shows how strong his voice is, the mic was arms length away and yet you could hear him clearly, he may of passed but his legacy will not (edit) also.... this song Micheal sang, if I’m correct, was made for Sammy by MJ, and only sung once.... for Sammy.... because it’s about Sammy.... and the lyrics, is basically heart wrenching and it’s just beautiful, sometimes even I forget Micheal can sing a ballad like this so beautifully.....
@@VocalSplendorStudios Yep, saw the video of his live performance of him playing the drums, and he also plays the trumpet, won’t be surprised if he could play many other instruments
He HAD Soul!! And Mike was like a son to Sammy Davis he knew Mike since he was 10 Sammy Davis jr., James Brown and Jackie Wilson were the 3 biggest idols of Michael Jackson, and for those who don't know who was the biggest idol of Sammy Davis, i can tell you that it was the legendary Mr. Bojangles.
Michael was born with an incredible talent, but he worked it hard, he studied it the hardest to become even taller. admiration for James Brown, Sammy Davis Jr. and Fred Astair I also owe to him.
MISS Valerie, can you please do a reaction PIECE for ,the song Michael Jackson did at President Bill Clinton's inauguration,!?... that was honestly undoubtedly the most BEAUTIFULLY DONE, song and the timbre of his VOICE was just ethereal , angelic, most unbelievable sounding. The best most unbelievably BEAUTIFUL song I've ever heard sung by any single individual to this day.
MJ grew up in the time of great showman's as you mentioned, watching Legends like Sammy, James Brown, Fred Astaire, Gene Kelly and so many others and so MJ brought that showmanship into his own performances. I feel he was the last great Showman!
To me, Michael is the cut-off point of the greats. Since him, the musical landscape has veered off into the Twilight Zone. Thank God for videos, and professionally trained artists like yourself keeping the good stuff alive, while acknowledging the original trail-blazers. 🌹
I always add Marion Anderson to those that broke down barriers, and to the brave White folks who championed Civil Rights, like Eleanor Roosevelt, Frank Sinatra and many others. Sammy could do anything, sing, dance, played multiple instruments, tell jokes, act, and his impersonations were incredible. The man had the combined talent of 10 people. I loved him.

Ok, so I’m late in recommending this video to you I think just today….duh! It’s a trip seeing all these comments of people gushing about Michael, & understandably so. But as one who is like a year younger than MJ would be, like him I grew up seeing Sammy in so many different genre’s & forms of entertainment. I’m also a jazz vibraphonist & can tell you that not only was Sammy a drummer & tap dancer, but he could swing pretty convincingly on the vibes as well, which you can also find on UA-cam, him going from one instrument to the next. Sammy as also an intense actor, which started in his portrayal of Sportin Life in the movie version of Gershwin’s Porgy & Bess, but culminated in roles like the stage musical, Golden Boy. At some point during his rat pack days, Sammy was also among the top 3 fastest actors at drawing a gun cowboy style, in the country. There is quite a bit of the tap legacy, including Sammy in the movie, Tap, which starred the late great Gregory Hines, who was also a part of the Sammy tribute that night, & who was also a truly gifted actor & drummer as well. Both Sammy Davis Jr. & GregoryHines we’re renaissance men in true sense, but I gotta say Sammy was without a doubt quintessential manifestation of it. There’s much loud declarations & calling for social justice, but not only was Sammy a door for what he faced, but he & entertainers like Harry Belafonte marched directly alongside Rev. Dr. Martin Luther King during one of the most crucially pivotal times in the history of the U.S.A., the civil rights era. I was even told by a neighbor & close friend of Louis Armstrong, that part of the reason he stayed in Queens, NY instead of moving to Cali, is that he didn’t want to have to deal with what Sammy went through as the only Black resident in his area. Just wish there was a way for the younger generations of all races, to appreciate what those who paved the way went through, & that it’s but their strength that we have opportunities today. Very good reaction! 👍
Great Song and Definitely Sammy Davis was the pioneer and Door that African American Artist could walk through.
