- So you guys asked for it, you know the drill. I know we are a bit late to the trend but this was so much fun, and yes it did get a lil tense but whats a healthy competition without a bit of tense-ness. Love you all.

I love this so much! I am an art teacher, retired, and I have always loved Bob Ross. Grace I actually love your painting. I can see things in it that turned out great. Your dad is amazing. Your painting reminds me of Vincent van Gogh a little.

what's sad is, it's likely not true, or if it is true, is likely vastly overblown.
Bob Ross was done in by a terminal illness, cancer IIRC, and Ross' business partners in Bob Ross Inc., the Kowalski's, realized that once Ross died, the company brand died with him unless they could get full rights to his name and likeness. the entire empire was built on Bob's persona, if they didn't own his soul, the company would have no name, no face, no logo, and no television persona to create a consumer cult of personality around. without bob, nobody would even care that they sold paint. they made Bob's last days a living hell, hounding him to sell his name and likeness to them as he was deteriorating more and more, then they played some real dirty pool legally to get ahold of it all after he died. as a result, very little of what Ross made is actually owned by Ross' estate, whether talking about paintings, footage, Bob Ross Inc. paint supplies, etc.
they even legally threatened his son, basically saying "You can do anything you want with your life except be a painter, you try and use the Ross name for anything paint related and we'll sue you into oblivion". this was extra scummy, because despite being a damn fine painter, Bob's son didn't even WANT to follow in his dad's footsteps, and he and his dad actually had a brief falling out because Bob was pressuring him to take over the show when Bob retired, and his son just wasn't into it, so the whole thing was unnecessary and just a way for them to flex how much control they had.

Art teacher dad you probably went to art school when II did in the 80-90's. I love that your kiddo is doing it with you and you are not fully critical and are very supportive of Grace trying her own thing. I have a master's in fine art and say that Grace's work is pretty cool as well. She needs to learn a few lessons from practice but I like watching her paint and how much joy she gets out of it as she is a creative like her dad. LOVE this video so very much and enjoy your relationship a lot.
