That's awesome! For professional work I usually start with a base mesh, but for practice and personal projects, I prefer starting with a sphere or the headplane provided by ZBrush. I feel like I can take a sphere anywhere, whereas a base mesh does not give me that freedom of a blank canvas, if you know what I mean.
