NYC better be careful and NYS in general. California had their Covid cases and deaths under wraps and now look at them. I'm from NYC and while I'm happy to see that NYC has its cases and deaths down, if we get complacent, they'll go back up. And I think they may go up again when flu season comes.

Things aren't getting back to normal. Back to normal is when there is a vaccine or treatment for Covid and most folks don't wear masks, Broadway reopens, sports stadiums have fans in the seats, the trains don't shut down at night. This is just a gradual opening of the economy but the restrictions and conditions in NYC aren't close to normal. There are more people out and they're not socially distancing as much but this isn't close to where NYC should be this time of year.

And the next issue if 1 percent of half of the world's population dies from Covid, that's a lot of people. Covid is very contagious. Economies of the world wouldn't shut down if this thing was to be taken lightly. We haven't shut down for other viruses and there must be a very good reason why we have for this one. To me, this is not about hype at all.

I’m an upstate NY teacher and thought of visiting before school starts but the crime stats deter me, not COVID. I actually feel like NYC is one of the safer cities with regard to the virus because of what they endured and learned during March, April and May but crime keeps getting worse. It’s sad too after everything they’ve gone through.
