I moved out of my home country when I was 20 all by myself, It took a lot of hard work, I worked jobs I hated, waking up crying just to get by but I kept pushing and by the grace of God I'm here today; I just turned 21 in June, I have my own room in Amsterdam, I'm about to start a new job on Tuesday and I was able to made my dream of visiting Los Angeles come true this July, something I would have never thought would happen when I'm 21 cause it seemed so distant to me even a couple of months ago and now I'm traveling to the US again in October. God is good man and it's crazy how He works...
I want to give special thanks to you Phil cause You were the one who showed me how to get closer to God and inspired me to become a better person; mindset, discipline, eating habits and all of that. I might sound crazy but you've been to me like an older brother that I never had.

I lost both my parents at a young age. Lost my dad first and then 3 years after lost my mom. So I can empathize of what you’re going through.
It’s never easy not going lie. But knowing what you gain and see how God has his hand on your shoulder at all time is real.

Omg I 100% sympathize with your transition. I’m a retired ballerina & being at the studio all day started to feel like I was robbing myself of own potential. I hope all the young athletes that watch you realize that it’s ok to move on. It’s can be hard when ppl are disappointed or tie your identity to your past professions but it’s not abt ppl, it’s about being obedient to God & it’ll all make sense eventually!
This is what I had to learn when I was slowly moving away from basketball and doing more music because I knew that basketball was no longer gonna be the one thing I was gonna be good at and I kept getting injured. Sometimes one door closes and another one opens. More importantly sometimes that thing you wanted to happen is the best thing that never happened (in the word of Dwayne Johnson)

I know the pain… I lost both of my parents in 2019 when I was in college. I’m pray that you’re continuing your healing journey and you’re staying grounded. Family doesn’t always mean blood. Sometimes it’s the people you CHOOSE.
Walking away from the game of basketball doesn’t make you a quitter. It’s more so the end of a chapter in your life. Being a former college hooper, I knew when it was time for me to say goodbye to the game I’ve been playing since a kid. And when you said you was playing ball just to play, I could relate to that so much. There came a point when I asked my self “Am I playing basketball cause I love it or cause I’m good at it” and the whole time I played it cause I was good at it, so I knew that I was time to let the game go. But I know I can walk away from the game knowing that I enjoyed every part of it. The Wins the losses, the grind, the highlights, the highs and lows, the championships, the road trips, and the teammates that become your brothers. So as long as you can walk away from basketball knowing you gave it everything you could and enjoyed the journey from when you were a kid to now, that’s all you can ask. 💯💯💯
In life you have to make choices that may not make sense to the outside world. You have to move to get peace, comfort and the will of God. You always want to be in His will. Peace and blessings to you. ❤

9:24 Thanks for sharing! I recall when I worked outside the home it felt like an abusive relationship - I wanted out, but felt bound by bills needing the money and worried that if I quit, then God wouldn't take care of us b/c he didn't tell me to quit in the first place...
I just felt trapped and knew something had to give when it was like I needed a glass or two of wine every evening after work to remove the stress tension in my body b/c even working out wasn't enough, and I would get melancholy on Sunday knowing I had to go back to that place around all those toxic, messy, and crooked people the next day. I was even having nightmares about work.
You spend more time around your co-workers than your children &/or spouse... The people you don't want to see get more of your time and energy than those you love... This system is backwards.
I just came across your channel while looking into plant based foods due to some health issues I’ve encountered as soon as I turned 30 a couple years ago. I enjoy following your plant based journey and it is truly inspiring!

I believe this is the third video of yours that I watched in a row. I just finished the one titled, ‘what you eat in a day’ (not verbatim, I can’t remember the title exactly), there isn’t any speaking in the video but it says a lot that ties into what you’re addressing here in this one. You seem calm and at peace when making your videos and the amount of care that you put into cutting and cooking your food shows very loudly, that your heart is most definitely in it! Seems like you’ve found a purpose that drives you and God is always going to bless something that he’s included in so he won’t let you fail at all. Keep shining bright, you have a glow and presence about you that makes others and myself binge your videos haha
Sometimes making these decisions are lonely but maybe they’re suppose to be, at least temporarily, until God sees that we’re obedient and seeking him in big decisions such as yours. But I’m sorry for the loss of your parents and I pray that you continue to shine. Don’t let anyone cause any doubt in your choices or dim your light. Not even you.
Man this resonated with me so much, I feel like I often get torn between sports and my passions outside of it. I know I’ll have to make a decision at somepoint, but feeling like a quitter is definitely something that makes it harder to choose.
I was in that same position (still am) and just follow your heart and trust your gut. Do what is best for you and eventually it will all figure itself out

I could resonate with that internal battle and when he said that his heart wasn’t in it and “you just know” that hit. We really do be lying to ourselves out of fear. I’m happy he’s made that choice for himself. He must feel peace overall now that he’s made that decision.
Thank you for the encouragement… I’m a teacher. A lot of long hours, emotionally taxing, and not enough pay. I’ve been thinking about leaving. It’s what my heart is telling me to do. What God is telling me to do… but I hold on like a toxic relationship because it’s what’s familiar.

This makes me think of what happened to me after my grandma passed (she raised me from 2 weeks old). She was my life so I really felt alone and whatnot. In the midst of all that I got really close to God and ended up going to college after putting it off so long. Anyway when I got there I met an elderly woman who had lost her husband around the same time I lost my grandma. We both were searching for a connection and God allowed us to find that in each other. I was amazed. Trying not to be long-winded lol but I also just dropped something I thought I wanted forever, kinda got reacquainted with some buried dreams from my childhood.
Amen!!! I walked away from 28 yrs at h hole the most abusive hard disrespectful job! Made it to a place at top(not top top) listened to my heart ( my mind was telling me as yours was) walked away. Everyday I’m treating it like it was an abusive relationship because yes it was!!! Everyday I know I’ve made the best decision for me!! Now, my last adventure before I retire will be something I love because I stay even when I hate it! 20 yrs nursing then 28 yrs in h hole Yelp next is open up to dreams!!
