  • We have upgraded our means of transportation, in order to get to the cabin. Only 10 hours on the Polaris Ranger 1000, and only about 2 hours on the tracks. Still discovering the pro's and cons. Can't wait to see what they can do in the winter.

I have an 2013 XP900 ranger with Polaris tracks. The popping noise I would get is when I was not in turf mode. Turf mode is open rear diff or one wheel drive. When in normal mode the rear diff was locked so the track would skip a lug when it’s had traction on both tracks and I turn even a little bit.

I did talk to the dealer about it, and they said if tension was correct that they should not pop like that. They adjusted them, but playing in snow now, so hard dirt testing will have to wait. Also, they said its somewhat normal for the first 20 hours as they do break in, or stretch.

Interesting, I wouldn't have made that connection.
Maybe, I watch to much hickock45 ?? No, that's not possible.

Good video, but keep the track tension tight. Putting it back on out in the skeg will really suck LOL

Working on getting a winter video out, and some others. Been extremely busy, but more are in the works.

Could do without the music in the background, pretty cool rig, I’d like to put a set of those tracks on my 2019 Yamaha Wolverine X2 . Not quit the H.P but it would still be pretty cool. That XP must have set you back a ton. I hope it treats you well , good luck and thanks for sharing

Thanks for input. Will try to minimize music. They are amazing, and yes not cheap. I do keep a tight budget for things I want. i.e commit to eating peanut butter and jelly sandwiches for a year or two for lunch, no netflix, etc. LOL, if you wan't something bad enough, you can make it happen. 2nd job? ... As I've stated in other videos, I drive a 25 year old pickup, and steer away from car payments. Thanks for watching, and hope someday you too will enjoy the winter fun with a set of these!

I 100% know what you mean when you would rather spend money on a side by side than a truck. I did the same thing. I drive 3 miles to work and haul my boat that is it. Why would anyone spend big money for that?

How is the ride on the tracks vs tires? Are they kidney stone looseners?

Actually in the "whoops" it is smoother. You don't hit the rocking from the hole on the Right Rear, then the Left Front. The vibration is more of a constant ...but not as severe. Out in the "bog" its super smooth. Best way I can describe it: On hard pack and rocks, I want wheels. In the mud and soft trails, give me tracks. Tight turns, and good trail, give me wheels. If you have all day and not in a hurry, and going thru some Iffy muck, give me tracks. The main reason I got them, trail is very rotten and full of snow, each spring and fall. Just enough that wheels won't get me thru., but yet enough dirt in spots where a snowmachine (Sled) won't cut it. I see this as a compromise for a older couple. One of the reasons we will keep both.

It's always a good idea to check out new areas that may be a problem on foot. Having your wife do that for you, shows how much you trust her.

Informtive vid but if I can suggest : no background music, makes it hard to understand what you’re saying and remove the fun of hearing the ride in the mud

True, not in the summer. We prefer this mode in winter. In fact we have the old one for the summer work.

Ya right, no heated cab, electric windows, slow as a snail, no box, roof on & on. Worst part is freezing.
