Democracy ended when we allowed lobbies and corporations to finance policy makers and in-effect "buy" policies they want. Do we think these people represent us who pay their salaries or those whose millions in campaign funding dwarfs those salaries? Slobodan Milosevic was the main actor in the fall of Yugoslavia and the person that caused the war and genocide, along with his closest men, Veljko Kadijevic and Borisav Jovic. Between 15th May 1989 until 8th October 1992, Milosevic, Jovic and Kadijevic conspired together and abused their political powers. They changed the national/ethnic structure of the Yugoslav People's Army and put it under their control for these goals: to violently overthrow the governments of Slovenia and Croatia; to overthrow the federal government and the presidency through a coup; to change the borders of the federal republic, either by violence or in violation against the constitution, by expelling the republics of Slovenia and Croatia from Yugoslavia; to change the borders of the republic of Croatia, by supporting politically and militarily the armed rebellion in Croatia, and the same goes with Bosnia and Herzegovina. Jovic wrote in his diary, which was later published as a book, on March 26th 1990 about a co-ordinational meeting in Serbia, which all the key government figures attended: "Our goal is to avoid bloodshed, to establish a border within there will be no war. Outside of that border [war] cannot be avoided, because Bosnia and Herzegovina won't be able to survive as a country, and a struggle for [its] territories without blood is hard to imagine". So, already in 1990, they knew very well what they were doing and where Bosnia and Herzegovina was headed: the goal was to establish borders of a new Yugoslavia (which would actually be greater Serbia), and there would be war for Bosnia and Herzegovina's territory. On June 27th 1992, Jovic wrote that he would gladly by force expel them [Croatia] from Yugoslavia, by simply cutting off the borders and proclaiming that they put themselves in that situation with their own decisions, "but I don't know what we should do with the Serbs in Croatia [...] before we expel them, hold a referendum on the basis of which new borders would be set. Veljko [Kadijevic] agrees". So, you see, they weren't fighting to preserve Yugoslavia. To stay in power, Milosevic needed to take control of the Yugoslav People's Army, which was controlled by the presidency, the six republics and the two autonomous regions, Kosovo and Vojvodina (both a part of Serbia). So, Milosevic and his men organized groups of nationalists, bussed them to Kosovo and to Vojvodina to make it seem like the people protested. He overthrew the governments there and installed loyalists, as well as installing a loyalist in Montenegro. Now that he had 4 out of 8 votes, he just needed to get rid of Slovenia and he would have the majority of votes and put the army under his control. That's the reason that the army didn't hit Slovenia very hard and that it wasn't sent to Croatia in large numbers when Slovenia was seeking independence. Milosevic had hoped that the Bosnian Serb who represented Bosnia and Herzegovina would vote ethno-nationally along Milosevic's lines to send in the army, but Bogic Bogicevic didn't do it, despite the great pressure on him. Jovic has written extensively about how Milosevic, Jovic,. Kadijevic, along with Blagoje Adzic, Branko Kostic and Momir Bulatovic, conspired on their meetings, how they were "preparing the army for war", about how "the war must be offensive and highly intensive", about the need to "coordinate the policies and the propaganda, especially in relation to the people that are going out to the war", about how the six mentioned men have as a goal to "defende, with the army, the new borders of the people that want to stay in Yugoslavia, or to overthrow the Croatian government", about "the necessity of mobilization", about how "there are still many Croats in the army", about the need of Serbia and Montenegro to proclaim the army their own, about the importance of "strengthening the lines we have reached", to "fill the units with volunteers" (meaning criminals and bloodthirsty hard core nationalists), etc. This all makes it obvious that the war was organized in and started by the Serbian government in Belgrade. But wait, there is more! Serbia actually seceded from Yugoslavia with the republic's new constitution from 28th Septeber 1990, before any of the other republics sought independence. In the constitution's article 72 it says that "Republic of Serbia regulates and ensures: sovereignty, independence and territorial integrity of the Republic of Serbia and its international position and relations with other countries and international organizations". Article 135 says that Serbia will respect the federal state's laws when it assesses that it's in Serbia's interest. Serbia also put import tariffs on products from other Yugoslav republics and took it upon itself to secure national defense and state security, as well as international relations with other countries, making Serbia a de facto sovereign country. But... Milosevic acted like he respected the federal state, because he could use it for his own means. Serbia could still work within the presidency, to which it didn't belong anymore, it could keep the control of the army through the presidency, it could hid behind the name of Yugoslavia and claim that they are focused on territoria integrity of Yugoslavia (even though that was't true anymore at least from early 1990), and Serbia could also benefit from the federal budget. In December 1990, Milosevic actually robbed the federal state! How? Well, the Serbian parliament decided upon two documents, which were classified, and on the basis of those, Serbia went into the monetary system of Yugoslavia, and took 1.4 billion dollars out of the National Bank of Yugoslavia. When that was discovered, delegates from other republics demanded that the culprits be arrested, which the federal premier Ante Markovic supported, but that didn't happen because Milosevic was already too powerful. Jovic wrote in his diary about that: "Conversation with Stanko Radmilovic (president of the Serbian governemnt) [...] I'm criticizing him for what they're doing with the money that belongs to the federal state. He explains that without it, we would definitely lose at the elections, because more than half of the republic wouldn't get their paychecks and pensions. Ante (Markovic) was wondering how we didn't go bankrupt, but we outsmarted him. That's the essence of it". Then we've got facts about the war in Bosnia and Herzegovina. Milosevic's army (former Yugoslav People's Army) was supporting the Bosnian Serb rebels from the very beginning. They were fighting together and taking control of villages, towns and cities together, along with paramilitary forces from Serbia that were organized and armed by the Serbian government, by Milosevic's army. They also started arming the Bosnian Serbs, at least from 1991. Not just the nationalist party SDS (whose first president Radovan Karadzic was later convicted of genocide), but also police, volunteers and loyal civilians across Bosnia and Herzegovina. It was a war focused on ethnic cleansing from the very start. In a meeting of the Bosnian Serb illegal rebel government on 9th January 1992, when they proclaimed the Serb Republic, a six point plan was adopted, which included deportations and murders. General Ratko Mladic, who is also convicted of genocide, said then (according to the transcript of the meeting): "People aren't keys so that we can easily take them from one pocket and put them in another. Gentlemen, what you're asking of me to do, that's genocide". Speaking of Mladic, who gladly did the dirty work, he, along with the rest of the "Bosnian Serb army", was on the payroll of Serbia. He was receiving his pension from Serbia the whole time while he was a fugative hiding from the International Criminal Tribunal for former Yugoslavia. Yes, he was even hiding in military bases in Serbia. The paramilitary group "Scorpions", who were among those that committed genocide in Bosnia and Herzegovina, in Srebrenica, was founded, organized and armed by the Ministry of Interior of Serbia (i.e. the police ministry). Milosevic was a war monger, he was a socialist who turned nationalist, he used nationalism to rile up and rally people around him, he was a thief, and a genocidal war criminal. Just because Serbia has not cooperated and has destroyed a lot of relevant documentation, instead of delivering it to the court, the case against him dragged on for years. In the case of Croatia, they had some non-nationalist people there. The social democratic president Stjepan Mesic cooperated and delivered all the transcripts of Croatia's president Franjo Tudjman, which helped convict the so called "Croat Six" (Prlic et al, i.e. Prlic, Stojic, Praljak, Petkovic, Coric and Pusic), because the intent and plans were very clear (Tudjman talked about expanding the territory of Croatia and annexing parts of Bosnia and Herzegovina), they talked about ongoing operations of the regular Croatian army in Bosnia and Herzegovina against the Bosnian army... Along with the documentation from the Croatian army, the Bosnian Croat separatist paramilitary, and observations on the ground by the UNPROFOR, the case was much easier to prove, than the case against Milosevic. Despite the lack of some evidence of Milosevic explicitly uttering certain incriminating words, there were thousands of smoking guns all around him with his fingerprints on them.

In effect, this means the two State solution has failed and Israel has decided to finish annexing that area of Palestine. Democracy ended when we allowed lobbies and corporations to finance policy makers and in-effect "buy" policies they want. Do we think these people represent us who pay their salaries or those whose millions in campaign funding dwarfs those salaries? The people need to take back power from politicians and demand their voice be heard in policymaking. Technology evolved but democratic processes didn't. We don't need representatives to make decisions on our behalf while we protest in the streets for weeks without being heard. We can get referendums from our communities online in minutes or hours and make acting on results of these polls/referendums binding by law or they get arrested for treason. Change will not happen unless the people keep demanding it and not yield to any pressure or threats from those that claim to represent us.

Please, if you don't know what you're talking about, either don't speak or inform yourself. Slobodan Milosevic was the main actor in the fall of Yugoslavia and the person that caused the war and genocide, along with his closest men, Veljko Kadijevic and Borisav Jovic. Between 15th May 1989 until 8th October 1992, Milosevic, Jovic and Kadijevic conspired together and abused their political powers. They changed the national/ethnic structure of the Yugoslav People's Army and put it under their control for these goals: to violently overthrow the governments of Slovenia and Croatia; to overthrow the federal government and the presidency through a coup; to change the borders of the federal republic, either by violence or in violation against the constitution, by expelling the republics of Slovenia and Croatia from Yugoslavia; to change the borders of the republic of Croatia, by supporting politically and militarily the armed rebellion in Croatia, and the same goes with Bosnia and Herzegovina.
Jovic wrote in his diary, which was later published as a book, on March 26th 1990 about a co-ordinational meeting in Serbia, which all the key government figures attended: "Our goal is to avoid bloodshed, to establish a border within there will be no war. Outside of that border [war] cannot be avoided, because Bosnia and Herzegovina won't be able to survive as a country, and a struggle for [its] territories without blood is hard to imagine". So, already in 1990, they knew very well what they were doing and where Bosnia and Herzegovina was headed: the goal was to establish borders of a new Yugoslavia (which would actually be greater Serbia), and there would be war for Bosnia and Herzegovina's territory.
On June 27th 1992, Jovic wrote that he would gladly by force expel them [Croatia] from Yugoslavia, by simply cutting off the borders and proclaiming that they put themselves in that situation with their own decisions, "but I don't know what we should do with the Serbs in Croatia [...] before we expel them, hold a referendum on the basis of which new borders would be set. Veljko [Kadijevic] agrees".
So, you see, they weren't fighting to preserve Yugoslavia.
To stay in power, Milosevic needed to take control of the Yugoslav People's Army, which was controlled by the presidency, the six republics and the two autonomous regions, Kosovo and Vojvodina (both a part of Serbia). So, Milosevic and his men organized groups of nationalists, bussed them to Kosovo and to Vojvodina to make it seem like the people protested. He overthrew the governments there and installed loyalists, as well as installing a loyalist in Montenegro. Now that he had 4 out of 8 votes, he just needed to get rid of Slovenia and he would have the majority of votes and put the army under his control. That's the reason that the army didn't hit Slovenia very hard and that it wasn't sent to Croatia in large numbers when Slovenia was seeking independence. Milosevic had hoped that the Bosnian Serb who represented Bosnia and Herzegovina would vote ethno-nationally along Milosevic's lines to send in the army, but Bogic Bogicevic didn't do it, despite the great pressure on him.
Jovic has written extensively about how Milosevic, Jovic,. Kadijevic, along with Blagoje Adzic, Branko Kostic and Momir Bulatovic, conspired on their meetings, how they were "preparing the army for war", about how "the war must be offensive and highly intensive", about the need to "coordinate the policies and the propaganda, especially in relation to the people that are going out to the war", about how the six mentioned men have as a goal to "defende, with the army, the new borders of the people that want to stay in Yugoslavia, or to overthrow the Croatian government", about "the necessity of mobilization", about how "there are still many Croats in the army", about the need of Serbia and Montenegro to proclaim the army their own, about the importance of "strengthening the lines we have reached", to "fill the units with volunteers" (meaning criminals and bloodthirsty hard core nationalists), etc. This all makes it obvious that the war was organized in and started by the Serbian government in Belgrade.
But wait, there is more!
Serbia actually seceded from Yugoslavia with the republic's new constitution from 28th Septeber 1990, before any of the other republics sought independence. In the constitution's article 72 it says that "Republic of Serbia regulates and ensures: sovereignty, independence and territorial integrity of the Republic of Serbia and its international position and relations with other countries and international organizations". Article 135 says that Serbia will respect the federal state's laws when it assesses that it's in Serbia's interest. Serbia also put import tariffs on products from other Yugoslav republics and took it upon itself to secure national defense and state security, as well as international relations with other countries, making Serbia a de facto sovereign country.
But... Milosevic acted like he respected the federal state, because he could use it for his own means. Serbia could still work within the presidency, to which it didn't belong anymore, it could keep the control of the army through the presidency, it could hid behind the name of Yugoslavia and claim that they are focused on territoria integrity of Yugoslavia (even though that was't true anymore at least from early 1990), and Serbia could also benefit from the federal budget.
In December 1990, Milosevic actually robbed the federal state! How? Well, the Serbian parliament decided upon two documents, which were classified, and on the basis of those, Serbia went into the monetary system of Yugoslavia, and took 1.4 billion dollars out of the National Bank of Yugoslavia. When that was discovered, delegates from other republics demanded that the culprits be arrested, which the federal premier Ante Markovic supported, but that didn't happen because Milosevic was already too powerful.
Jovic wrote in his diary about that: "Conversation with Stanko Radmilovic (president of the Serbian governemnt) [...] I'm criticizing him for what they're doing with the money that belongs to the federal state. He explains that without it, we would definitely lose at the elections, because more than half of the republic wouldn't get their paychecks and pensions. Ante (Markovic) was wondering how we didn't go bankrupt, but we outsmarted him. That's the essence of it".
Then we've got facts about the war in Bosnia and Herzegovina. Milosevic's army (former Yugoslav People's Army) was supporting the Bosnian Serb rebels from the very beginning. They were fighting together and taking control of villages, towns and cities together, along with paramilitary forces from Serbia that were organized and armed by the Serbian government, by Milosevic's army. They also started arming the Bosnian Serbs, at least from 1991. Not just the nationalist party SDS (whose first president Radovan Karadzic was later convicted of genocide), but also police, volunteers and loyal civilians across Bosnia and Herzegovina. It was a war focused on ethnic cleansing from the very start. In a meeting of the Bosnian Serb illegal rebel government on 9th January 1992, when they proclaimed the Serb Republic, a six point plan was adopted, which included deportations and murders. General Ratko Mladic, who is also convicted of genocide, said then (according to the transcript of the meeting): "People aren't keys so that we can easily take them from one pocket and put them in another. Gentlemen, what you're asking of me to do, that's genocide".
Speaking of Mladic, who gladly did the dirty work, he, along with the rest of the "Bosnian Serb army", was on the payroll of Serbia. He was receiving his pension from Serbia the whole time while he was a fugative hiding from the International Criminal Tribunal for former Yugoslavia. Yes, he was even hiding in military bases in Serbia.
The paramilitary group "Scorpions", who were among those that committed genocide in Bosnia and Herzegovina, in Srebrenica, was founded, organized and armed by the Ministry of Interior of Serbia (i.e. the police ministry).
Milosevic was a war monger, he was a socialist who turned nationalist, he used nationalism to rile up and rally people around him, he was a thief, and a genocidal war criminal. Just because Serbia has not cooperated and has destroyed a lot of relevant documentation, instead of delivering it to the court, the case against him dragged on for years. In the case of Croatia, they had some non-nationalist people there. The social democratic president Stjepan Mesic cooperated and delivered all the transcripts of Croatia's president Franjo Tudjman, which helped convict the so called "Croat Six" (Prlic et al, i.e. Prlic, Stojic, Praljak, Petkovic, Coric and Pusic), because the intent and plans were very clear (Tudjman talked about expanding the territory of Croatia and annexing parts of Bosnia and Herzegovina), they talked about ongoing operations of the regular Croatian army in Bosnia and Herzegovina against the Bosnian army... Along with the documentation from the Croatian army, the Bosnian Croat separatist paramilitary, and observations on the ground by the UNPROFOR, the case was much easier to prove, than the case against Milosevic. Despite the lack of some evidence of Milosevic explicitly uttering certain incriminating words, there were thousands of smoking guns all around him with his fingerprints on them.

You can put two and two together, or you can say "nooooo, Milosevic didn't talk about war, didn't threaten other republics, didn't organize coups in Vojvodina, Kosovo and Montenegro to grab the power, he didn't organize the army, he didn't control the serb army in Bosnia and Herzegovina, he didn't organize paramilitary forces...

If I heard the news correctly, and I assure you I didn't, Israel's ground invasion occurred simultaneously with its announcement that it will permanently take over the security situation in Gaza. In effect, this means the two State solution has failed and Israel has decided to finish annexing that area of Palestine.
The US military announced the commencement of operations in defense of Israel. This has destroyed the Democrats' plan for a peace deal going back to the time of Clinton. The US has also announced support for Israel's security situation meaning US troops can be deployed to assist with suppressing terrorist or Israeli-opposition forces.
In effect, through military force, the US is unilaterally renegotiating the borders of a country it helped form with NATO, possibly while being an active participant in a campaign of genocide.
