You can make life a little bit easier by using 4"-6" (whatever fits) of vinyl clear hose and and threaded clamp on the tip of the oil bottle. That way you give yourself more room to fill without a leak when you tip the bottle. Just using the vinyl without the clamp, and you usually find the hose falling off. Buy hose that fits most all of the oil bottle tip, not just the tip where it has more chance to fall off. Have fun!
😊 Loved the video and bought a 10mm and 14mm hex key to do the job as you suggested. Unfortunately, once I got under my Frontier it has SQUARE holes for the plugs. Don't know why my Frontier is different. Fortunately, the holes are close enough to 1/2 inch that I was able to use my half inch drive ratchet handles and the change went smoothly. Maybe someday I will find a use for the two keys I bought and cannot return.
I am 99% sure there are no clutch packs in the rear diff. I don't beleive there are in the front either. No LSD additive needed. Mine was an automatic transmission 4wd model.
It is suppose to be changed at 50,000 mile intervals. However, if you don't have Synthetic Oil in it, change it now. You should be running Synthetic Oils throughout your vehicle. For intervals, it really is dependent on many degrading factors for when you should change the fluids. Towing heavy loads, driving up mountains, driving on rough terrain, driving in high temp environments, aging, and submerging the rear axle are all reasons that could cause the fluid to degrade. Synthetic fluids are more resilient and are much less likely to degrade due to age and heat.
I have not! I have read up on it and think it is a great simple mod especially if you offroad in mud and pull trailers. My off roading is limited to desert and I don't pull trailers, so I don't think it's quite necessary. However...🤣 I think you just convinced me to do it. Haha
@@NissanDudeAZ Right on man 👍 make sure you do a video on it, i know there's plenty of them on UA-cam but I always enjoy your videos. Yeah man I'm gonna do mine just don't know when. I have the m226 diff. From what I've seen and read their saying the Toyota fitting works best because of it's larger hole size. Good luck with it and have a good day. ✌
I was doing mine last night and for that bottom one i cut a 10mm allen wrench and had to do the same thing you did with a 10mm wrench (yes i was actually able to find one of my 10mm wrenches LOL) to break that bastard open. I heard a crack and panicked. LOL
@@ProfessionalPepper a long time ago I had an '84 Z28. In order to get to that passenger side rear spark plug I had to cut a box end wrench in half, then cut a slice in the box end. Still have that invention all these years later. Also made an inner tie rod tool for my '91 Grand Prix. Some tubing, a race from a ball bearing welded to the one end with to roll pins inserted. On the other end I cut a 1/2" drive socket in half and welded that to the tubing. Still got that one...doesn't work on the nissan though 🙄 LOL
When he dont make sure the drain plug washer o ring or seal is ok he will be buying a differential.i also make sure mine are close to full before I drain them. If its a 4by4 transfer case and its overfull bad it has a bad mid shaft seals
How would any contaminants enter the Differential? There was no "Washer" or "O-Ring" for any of the plugs.... It isn't Rocket Science. It is "make car run" science.
75W-90 has worked in several vehicles of mine that call for 75w-80 and 75w-90. Thanks for this!
Thanks dude I have a 2013 Nissan just like that one thanks for the great info please keep them coming
Will do, thanks for watching
Thanks for this and the transfer case fluid video . Will be doing both soon
Before you drain your diffs first make sure you can get the fill plugs loose.
It would suck if you drained it and then couldn’t get the fill plug out!
Great point, glad I saw this comment!
Dang never thought about that. Good tip!
Good instruction with the details needed. Thank you!

Oh, and just switch cap with hose to new bottle when needed
Good tip!

Sorry to hear that, wonder why its different. Glad it worked for you though.
Thanks for the video
You bet
At work in a machine shop so cant hear or watch..hoping ypu can let me know
75w 90 for the rear
Just an fyi, the gear oil bags are so much easier and no mess.
I've never seen such bags ???? Thanks for the tip.
@@ProfessionalPepper Only seen them by Valvoline.
Do these trucks have clutch packs in the diffs ??do i need any type of lsd additive?

What is the maintenance interval for the rear fluid?

Fluid change, diff, nissan, frontier. For the algorithm lol
Thank you for feeding the Al Gore-rythem.
Thanks!
Have you did the diff vent mod on yours ? I'm thinking about doing it on mine. 👊✌

You didn’t change the crush washer
You don't always have to. I've changed the oil twice and both times I didn't replace the washer. No leaks.

@@NissanDudeAZ its called backing a boat in the water.how about a leak??
You want to wear gloves..that fluid is nasty and eye pro as well.
Always a good idea to wear PPE
