It's absolutely criminal that there was no patch whatsoever for the use of the Guncon series of Lightgun peripherals (especially the Guncon 3) by Namco for the remake of HOTD. And purists who want to use the Guncon 2 or Guncon 1 on CRT for the HOTD Remake would be out of luck.
Was looking forward to this followup. I share your hope and desire for lightguns to return properly. The technology exists. It existed on the PS3 also as you've previously mentioned. The argument that flat screen TVs are the issue is outright moot now.
Great video, I’m glad to hear this super enthusiast perspective. I also appreciate the disclaimer that the ps move will be most fun for casual folks but telling people what they are missing out on with PC
Good video! I have a light gun for every platform, and most of the games that go with them (until PS3 / X360, where the technology changed). Great to see that light gun games are (sort of) still going strong! I like the sound of Gun4IR, but don't fancy butchering my Gcon 45 / Gcon 2 just yet :)
Likewise, I kept hold of a CRT and all of my old light guns. When my friend approached me about the project, u didn't want to gut any of my childhood guns, so I eBayed a Predator light gun for him to use.
Yeah I ebayed a Scorpion to gut. Would've felt bad using an original G-Con for the project. Someone I know is 3D printing a shell for theirs. Seen a lot of different shells used by the Gun4IR community.
I have an Aimtrak Lightgun. It works well, but is not quite as accurate as CRT based technology. The PS3 Guncon lightgun is a similar kind of device as it used IR sensors. There is a lot of fiddling around needed to make these games playable on LCD screens. It can be done though. Look at the Sinden gun as a decent example. I prefer playing on CRT, but I understand that it's not suitable for the modern gaming format. 90s and 2000s lightgun games will always be better because the older gun hardware was built to last.
If you want to play house of the dead remake more effectively with the move, try it with the playstation sharp shooter. It's the official ps3 gun from sony that features integrated button layout with the use of a more springy trigger and the square and triangle buttons just above the trigger for recalibration and weapon swapping.
Should I get Gun4IR or the PlayStation Move Sharp Shooter gun attachment and get the latest PS Move controllers? I want to play House of the Dead Scarlett Dawn on PC?
@@goransvraka3171 the Gun4IR is significantly more expensive, but also significantly more accurate, than the PlayStation Move. Scarlet Dawn does not have an official home release. Currently, the only way to play it at home is on PC via an emulator.
To play on a ps5 you need the ps4 version of the game and ps4 camera and ps3 or ps4 move controllers. This is how I play btw with ps3 move controllers on my ps5 console.
PC version needs a physical DRM free version with this mod and that PS4 version needs a major graphical patch! I wish the physical release for Switch had been delayed till at least October and I hope the PS4 version has not gone gold yet!
PS4 also added Aim controller support, but bizarrely it also only supports gyro and doesn't use the camera at all. I read somewhere that the Sharpshooters still work with PS4 so I'm going to have to try them and see if they work any better, I don't remember having any major issues with those when playing overkill on the PS3. Might have to look into those IR mods though, but I sold my actual light guns years ago. A version of time crisis on PS3 came bundled with ir (?) guns and sensors, I was never able to track down a reasonably priced copy though
Ahh good. So the solution is either 1. Buy a 600 pound VR headset for a light gun experience or 2. buy a 250 dollar lightgun for you PC or have a friend that knows how to use a soldering iron. Good to know :P
If you play it using a Sinden, the answer to that question should be obvious. Nothing else comes close. You can't play a light gun game without a light gun. It's a law. You have to use a light gun. However... It's choosing the right gun that makes all the difference. That Sinden... There's nothing else like it on the market. It's next to perfect.
Actually, I play HotD:R with a DolphinBar and a Wiimote with the Nyko Perfect Shot shell and it plays very well! Had to order the same macro/wide angle lenses the Gun4IR uses and stick them on the end of my Wiimote, but it was a cheap upgrade considering I already had the wiimote, nyko perfect shot, and the dolphinbar already. Only downside is I can't play 2-player using 2 wiimotes with that set up, but for single player it's perfectly fine and very accurate! Certainly far cheaper than getting Sinden or Gun4IR guns.
The Sinden lightguns don't involve use of external LEDs in contrast to the Gun4IR demonstrated, but they give you this white border on your screen itself for tracking. Trade off with either method it seems.
@@WebstersUA-cam honestly, the IR I don’t mind because I could fabricate something with my 3D printer to make it minimal. But the PlayStation camera is just an eyesore. Not that my gaming shelf isn’t already an eyesore lol.
The PS4 Move implementation uses the PS4 Camera, which has two lenses, so if anything the PS4 Move should theoretically offer better 3D tracking and accuracy.
That's true but no arcade style lightgun game for PS4 console, besides PS3 seems more to choose. And also I don't have PC for gaming, what would you advise if I want to play lightgun ?
If you don't have a PC, then yeah, a PS3 offers more light gun games than a PS4. On PS4, I struggle to think of more than just House of the Dead Remake. Everything else on PS4 has been VR shooters. PS3 meanwhile has House of the Dead 3, 4, and Overkill, Time Crisis Razing Storm (which includes Time Crisis 4 and Dreadstorm Pirates), the Dead Space light gun game (Extraction, I think?), and the Resident Evil Umbrella and Darkside Chronicles.
@@WebstersUA-camplayed these all and i loved them. I went for the platinum trophy on every title you just mentioned. The first one never came out for the Dreamcast. Just the second H.O.T.D. game did, and nothing else. The original was only ported to both the Sega Saturn, and PC way back in 1998 too.
That feeling when the follow up video has more views than the original review ;)
As soon as one big company releases a light gun again, you can be sure that will open the floodgates. It's just a matter of when and not if.
I hope so. I really do.
I’m telling you, if this releases a VR version it’ll likely hit big since VR is as close as light gun. Since the controls can be like that.
I’m still waiting tbh, last good light gun experience I had was on my Wii and I still play it but got this game cuz it was on sale

So which controller is best on ps5? Motion sense or left stick? Gun or basic controller?

Waity, the Sharpshooter has buttons? I thought it was just another plastic shell, same as the handgun sized one I used in the video.

You tried the psmove in pc? It could emulate a dualshock 4 aim?
