How heartbreaking for a man of such musical genius to be stricken with an irreversible disease that robbed him of what he loved most -- playing the piano. At the end of this video, he expresses his anger (and who could blame him?) at being reduced "to this insignificant version" of himself. It's hard to believe that he's been gone 20 years already. I do hope the world will always remember him because there is really no one else like him. He is irreplaceable. Thank you for posting this.
Any unexpected affliction which renders a person seemingly "insignificant" is cruel and one can only be totally sympathetic. One always felt Dudley's ultimate potential was never tested and yet he certainly made his mark. I am so pleased to have heard him playing in the 1960's which was a special time and perhaps the best period for Dudley too. A comprehensive documentary which certainly revealed much about Dudley which one was unaware of.
If there's a restoration of the original tape, could subtitles be added when Dud speaks? Not being mean - but sometimes because of his condition it's hard to make out what he's saying.
There should be the Orchestral Version in the Omnibus archives or the BBC Orchestra Archives ? I think that it is so beautiful that it is worth searching for ?
IM A BROADCASTER AND AN ACTOR.(there's many incredibly STRANGE things about this man and his life).first....the MOVIE love sick was HORRIBLE.he must have been INSANE when he agreed to do it.OR he hated himself and that justified him doing it.OR he had physical abuse charges pending on him FROM HIS 4 X WIVES.so he did a plea bargain. To get out of those marriages HE thus was FORCED To do love sick.(secondly.Arthur the movie was BRUTALLY LAME at best-a bad movie overall.MEDIOCRE at best acting.HORRIBLE cliche script and TERRIBLE music by the AWFUL SONG VOCALIST Chris cross.(and I saw a documentary on him ADMITTING to the interviewer HOW HE WAS GOING TO PERISH/DIE.(none of it made sense).SO MY POINT HERE IS...........YES A TALENTED MAN..........but yet.......A FREAKY FREAKY FREAKY personal and business life........your replies are welcomed.

@@pauline9580 it is a 20/20 interview from abc with Barbara Walters. He discusses the disease and states he will die from it. He also states that Rena has endless compassion for him. When asked if she was not there would he have anyone else he says no. It’s a very sad interview and you can tell he is nearing the end
So tell us about all the "many incredibly STRANGE things" about Dudley that you know. I've been listening to his fabulous trio and have watched some trailers and videos. His 3rd wife, Brogan Lane, says some very nice things about him in a couple of videos, as does his long-time girlfriend, Susan Anton. You obviously don't care for him as an actor, and he apparently wasn't a devoted father or husband. I watched the Barbara Walters interview where he said he knew his future wouldn't be pleasant, or something to that effect.

What a lovely tribute to Dudley Moore. SUCH A TALENT!
So cruel to be affected by that horrible disease. Thank you so much for posting this.
Love seeing this historical footage. Many, many thanks.
So sad. I loved Dudley Moore. He was adorable

Show Bizz is a beautiful piece of music
Thank you
If you'd like to send me the audio track I can try to remove the VHS buzz from it. It's a beautiful documentary, thank you for sharing.

Where can I find a recording of the beautiful Orchestral piece at the end called Showbiz ?
There's a CD of the Piano version by Dudley Moore - Songs Without Words. I don't know if the orchestral version has ever been released.
There should be the Orchestral Version in the Omnibus archives or the BBC Orchestra Archives ? I think that it is so beautiful that it is worth searching for ?
Funny and sad.
This is a great film but the sound quality is lousy! Isn't there a decent copy somewhere?
i found this one
