    So much fun watching these girls--- future gold medal olympians--- as juniors. Go Team USA

    Bross didn’t need a coach who was harsh with her … she was already harsh on herself ! She needed someone who could remind her to cheer up :)

      Sadly she ended up peaking a little too early as well. In all honesty I don’t think she’d have made that London team even without the knee injury. Just too much inconsistency.

    In many ways, Aly's overall form looked better in 2010 than it did in 2012. Her leaps and her bars improved a lot in those two years though. I think she'll be able to clean up most of her little form breaks before 2016. She already has her skills back. Now it's just a matter of cleaning them up. That will be a lot easier to do now that her body is no longer changing. I'm just glad it didn't hold her back too much last quad. So many promising juniors do not transition through the puberty change very well.

    omg its so weird watching this knowing bridget wins the ncaa all around title at florida, brittany rogers is at georgia doing well and aly, kyla and jordyn go on to win gold at the olympics in london!

    I like how in 2008 Rebecca Bross competed as a junior in this same competition, and then in 2010 here she's expected to be the 2012 all-around gold medal olympic champion. And Jordyn Weiber competed here in this competition as a junior then in 2012 she did as well and was expected to be the 2012 all-around gold medal olympic champion. And neither one ended up being the 2012 all-around gold medal olympic champion.

      cristi0771 So, what have we learned from this? Ignore the hype. It's a damn shame because the hype likely plays a role in the downfall of at least some of the hyped-up atheletes. I wish NBC would stop picking "IT girls" & let these altheletes perform without added pressure of living up to expectations that are only heightened to pique intresest in a sport that the average American only cares about every four years. It's a bummer.

    It creeps me out that Marta always has her hands on the athletes' necks- front of their neck, back of their neck, side of their neck... always the neck.

      Yeah it is creepy. She might be digging her nails into their necks bc the routines might be bad............ I dont know

      according to romanian national team members from the 70s, Marta would put her hands on their necks and then pinch a muscle until it left bruises

      Aabha Tiger Martha has done the same after remarkable routines (e.g., Nastia's bars during the TF at the '08 Olympics). I'm not saying the accusations of physical abuse aren't true (I don't know -- how would any of us know for sure?). All I'm saying is that I have seen Martha grab necks after some amazingly stellar performances.

    Is it just me or did Kyla, Aly, and Jordyn all look better here than they did in London? I guess maybe it was just the fact they they were younger, probably were more flexible, and definitely did not have all that pressure on them.

    It's interesting Tim commenting on how the Chinese have a different opinion about the falls, it does seem that way, especially when there have been so many times through the years when they have essentially 'melted down' during competition. Not that they didn't care, but just the way they responded as opposed to say, the Russians, there is definitely a different feel there.

    • @ahluvdrums
      @ahluvdrums 7 років тому

      Right, but even in World or Olympic events, they more easily shrug off a fall compared to teams like Russia or the US. That has changed some, especially since the Beijing, there are more emotions coming from the Chinese girls (both good and bad).

    • @ahluvdrums
      @ahluvdrums 7 років тому

      I don't see why it's hypocritical, their training centers are sure a different approach, but it's just an observation.

    i dont know why are you so mean with the chinese? most of them are little girls or teenagers that barely get to see their parents once a year, that's there only way to survive.. and bring food and a relatively good life to their families.. and the still win medals.. and are great! the ioc and the fig came to the conclusion that the girls in beijing were the right age! learn your facts before talking.. the 2000 team got the medals taken away. the 2008 NOT.. the beat the americas fairly.

    Since she qualified it with "for her" just after she finished saying it was a simple skill. NBC may not have great commentators, but don't make it sound like they are completely clueless. When you take things out of context like you did, it destroys their credibility needlessly.

    These commentators are annoying af. at 26:29 they talk about Emma Collister having a Kasamatsu vault, and they point out that it's named after a Japanese Gymnast. Elfi asks "Do you think she knows that?" and without missing a beat I think it's Terry that says "Nope". Way to assume. Also the fact that she's doing a vault that is different from most of the other gymnasts would probably make it more likely that she knows who it's names after.

    • @caitlinchip1015
      @caitlinchip1015 3 роки тому

      Totally agree, to be a gymnast at that level, you really have to love gymnastics. I’m sure the gymnast did know the history behind that vault, especially as it was not a typical vault to be performing at the time.

      Dominique Moceanu said in her book that when she was competing Marta would put her hand on the back of her neck and dig her nails in after a bad routine.
