I cast a fly on there for an hour on saturday afternoon, was a good hatch on, but never seen as much as a rise. I suspect the locals have hammered it, sadly.
@@munrostomper2325 Aye, me anaw, been keen to get up to Girvan Eye for ages, after seeing you up there, reckon it'll be worth a warm evening on the dry fly, as you say. I was eyeing up Aldinna loch on saturday too, not too far a hoof off the road, but never heard of anyone fish there
There was defo a good few moving and some fun to be had with the fly….don’t know about size right enough they tend to grow to there environment. Never heard of that one will defo look it up…I think maybe loch grannoch on the packraft and maybe the wee hill lochs next to it for me.
No I had to look it up there and I see another one in the woods above it….take some doing to get to it I think. I don’t imagine it would have been fished much I hope it’s a wee cracker for you 🎣
Hi that loch is local to me there’s big fish in it but fishes better in the summer months and it does get hammered unfortunately. I put 65 trout in it in 2010 carrying them in a home brew bin from the widow’s. Lochs valley, neldricken and Enoch are worth fishing if your looking for somewhere else.
I only hit one fish but it looked the part for sure. I have fished them before and had some good sport off them. Fancy the round loch of the dungeon next time I am out. I very rarely kill fish and even less the brownies.
Me and my dad used to put trout into the black loch out of the widows loch that's nearby it in the very early 80s through to the early 90s carrying them to it in plastic buckets. There's also a book written about us fishing in the area in the 1980s. Called Fisher in the hills author Robin ade. The section in the book pertaining to it is stillwater spring.
No far of me that wee loch,I’ve fished It many a time
