This is the jam session of the 90's. Every track is absolutely mind blowing. Fire. Listen to the whole album. It's very chill like sitting in your smoking jacket and drinking a martini...shaken, not stirred.
Don't tell Tricky, he's still working! Actually, last year he released "Maxinquaye Reincarnated" a 3LP remix/remaster of one of the best Trip Hop albums of all time with some new tracks added.
@@nubbypk oh aye I imagine a few of them are still working they probably know nothing else tbh creative types rarely quite forever. Just a shame the scene was so short lived
Loads of people have used this instrumental which is Isaac Hayes song Ike’s Rap. Tricky (Hell Is Round The Corner), Alessia Cara (Here), Timbaland and Magoo (Beep Beep) are three.
my cousin worked on the multimedia aspects of this album, (sorta one of the earlier cd album releases with extra content attached...it's kinda "so what", now, but at the time it was a little ground breaking lol). It's still one of my favourite concerts to listen to, and i think you'll enjoy listening to some more tracks from this performance. Roads, sour times are a couple that spring to mind
Portishead (pronounced portis-head, not porti-shade) used a sample from Isaac Hayes for their original album, that's why it sounds familiar., even though it's played live here.
You're surely right and I'm a fan of Isaac Hayes. But to me that song is a total Portishead hit !! The Lady with her cigarette is unforgettable to me !!!❤❤❤❤❤❤
Only three albums from them, and not a duff track to be heard. You honestly can't go wrong with any song, but top of my recommendations would be Roads, Mourning Air and The Rip. She also made a superb album in collaboration with Paul Webb (of the band Talk Talk, going by the pseudonym Rustin Man), called Out Of Season. Again, it's all top quality, starting with the beautiful opening song Mysteries. And this year she finally released her first solo album, Lives Outgrown, which is, quelle surprise, also brilliant. The single Floating In A Moment is amazing. She's made one other record, a very unexpected recording of a 20th century classical piece, Henryk Gorecki's third symphony. That's bloody good too! Incidentally, Portishead (named after a town in the west of England near Bristol, home of Trip-Hop) is pronounced "portiss-head".
Smoking while singing 😂 i miss the 90s
still have the VHS....yes...the vhs. THE ENTIRE SET IS GOLD!
@gwakon
it's criminal it's not on Blu-ray yet
My wife had to work that night and her friends had her listen to it over their cell phone (which was still kind of new).
Beth Gibbons has a beautiful voice and portishead fully realise bristol trip hop. A stunning time capsule of '94
Everything Portishead is 💯 fire ❤️

Portishead together with Massive Attack and Tricky were the founders of the brief Bristol trip hop genre. Shame it didn't last longer

Never liked Tricky's album. Portishead still reign supreme over all three bands for me just for their vibe and more ear-pleasing music style
@@thicccatto3956 yeah I'm not a big fan of Tricky tbh creative yes but for me he can't sing a note :)
Beth released a critically acclaimed solo album this year, entitled Lives Outgrown. It's another masterpiece well worth checking out
I've got 2 Portishead songs on my all-time playlist, this is one of them......
This song reminds of after hour parties in college.
“Strangers” from the same show is mind blowing
Never gets old....love it
They're from England. A class act.
@@simonpoole2333 Yes, they're from Portishead near Bristol

OH! didn't know that. going to look it up now.

Next up from Portishead is "Strangers" live at Roseland NY.
Came here to say this!
Roads & Sour Times from the same gig I'd recommend from the same gig,Beth Gibbons voice is amazing ❤
That’s perfect, love it thanks Biz

You couldn't ask for a better live rendition of that
This album IS my teenage years.
I had the VHS of this concert and wired my Bass tube up to the telly. Height of 90s tech.
Fantastic band! Thanks, Biz !
Trip Hop 🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥
❤❤❤❤ true blue blues❤❤❤❤
Great music and a nice reaction.

Loved this, thank you!
Incredible
Love it!
This is a great song!
Check out Tricky's Karma Coma. Bristol Trip Hop is a mini Brit version of Seattle Grunge, several great albums came out of that city.
If not mistaken, they sampled an Isaac Hayes song "Ike's Rap II"
this is on my stoner playlist , its such a journey
Disassociative is an amazing song of his
God I miss Trip Hop. Bands like a.s.o are still producing brilliant stuff but they get little air time which is a shame imho.
Smoke 'em if you got 'em.
Lalo Schifrin samples a plenty with Portishead 🤔🎶🌞😎🙌👍
Strangers is the best song from this live show in my opinion! 🔥
It's a good production, but the problem is that it's 100% sample.
Someone needs remedial math.
No shit Sherlock. Next you'll be telling us that all the great Trip Hop bands used samples.
@@nubbypk all these Trip Hop groups only do samples ! "Glory Box" is a sample by Isaac Hayes "Ike's rap"
@@jcdepaname Yes I know. What's your point?
