Having used canvas tents most of my life, the one thing my Dad always did was to tighten the guide wires after the tent was warmed up as the canvas stretches. So as long as I’ve done that I have had no sagging problem, this includes a medieval marquee style 30’x18’. Give it a try.

Even with a cap on the stove pipe sparks from your fire can make it out and possibly create holes on the tent. I saw it happen on a video when it was very windy out.. Luckily the person had something to repair the holes to keep the rain and snow out and keep them dry. Not saying it will happen and not trying to be negative...just prepare for anything that might happen. A water repellant for the tent too.

I heard you mention that you wanted to get better achors. After you decide what kind you want to use, consider turning your guy lines around. Put your fixed end that is on your tent currently on the other end with your new tent anchors. That way you can adjust your guy lines from the tent side and then you can pound those anchors in the ground as far as you want to. Think about it. Your loop is on your tent. Use it for your adjustment side. You don't even have to bend over and you can see what you are doing as you tighten your tent up.

I lived in a Kodiak for a month, camp chef stove, I screwed the stove pipes together and made L shaped brackets to secure pipe to stove. Had no issues. Except the seam on the bottom of the tent between the floor and the wall rotted near the stove corner which lead to a gulf ball sized hole, the seam is canvas and in direct contact w the ground cloth and possibly the ground if the ground cloth isn't perfect. The seam never drys out, I bought the tent at bass pro shop and they did replace it.
When I take the new one out, I'm going to wax the seam good so it can't soak up any water. It is the only draw back with the tent.
Another important factor i encountered was keeping my wood pile dry, I didn't have the awning, but I do now.
Get some of those cheap cloth closet hanging box shelves they fold up good for storage in the tent bag.
Don't sleep w the stove burning, stay warm w your bedding. Have dry wood ready to light in the stove w a loaded coffee pot on top. Have bed located so in the morning you can reach out and light the stove and hit the snooze button. Then wake up 15 minutes later to warmth and hot coffee.
Metal storage boxes, I use USGI aluminum medical chests, store your dry goods and snacks in the boxes outside.. keep the tent perfectly clean from food crumbs. A mouse will rip up your tent for a cracker crumb. The floor less awning is a good spot to cook and eat as there is no floor for mice to chew through. I also put foam interlocking floor tiles down to protect the tent floor and for a warm floor. Have a broom and dust pan, a small battery powered impact for zipping the screws in the stove pipe and repairing stuff. The smoke detector, co detector is very important, I put mine on the top shelf of a hanging closet organizer. Outside I use iron rods made for hanging plants and bird feeders to hang gear on like traps, clothing, put up pelts that need dried. There are wire spring tent pole hangers you can get to turn your snow support pole into a coat rack, clothing drying racks that fold up work nice in the tent too.

Can't wait to see you make the pizza in the dutch oven. Use charcoal till it's red parchment paper dough sauce cheese. Put some of the hot coal's on top. Be careful it doesn't burn on the bottom. Bring a soft broom to knock the snow off.

Guy lines are not setup correctly... the 4 corners are suppose to have 2 guy lines at each corner. Pulling the roof/ edgeline out and another pulling the wall edge line in a 90° from the other line.

That particular design sucks in my opinion for sagging. They're are much better designs out there that don't create as much sagging. About 4 years ago I got a really cheap winter wall tent called 12x10 Ozark trail canvas wall tent with stove Jack. I have used it during heavy storms snow. I do recommend if you get that tent upgrading the frame. That's the only drawback the frame is weak in my opinion. But after upgrading the frame, I've not had any problems with my $400 winter wall tent. I use it for hunting and family outings. I am currently researching and looking at inflatable canvas winter tents. They're looking really promising.

@@OffTheTrail1::: Guy lines at the 4 corners should be 2 in each corner pulling at 90° from front & rear roof ridge and 2 sides roof ridge. I did same thing 1st time and was not very happy w/ tent 'til I figured it out. That's why you had 4 extra guy lines just as I did. Lol. Beautiful tents. Paint roller pad on pole works well on snow & ice covered roof from the inside.

I will probably get me a piece of rebar and cut them down about 1618 inches long and weld a washer long ways on the rebar to put in the ground and I would also drill a couple holes in my chimney stack and wire it to the tent, so it doesn’t keep coming loose That would be a good start but that’s a fine looking tent.

  • @tim196868

Which you probably know this now. LOL. But you should run a fire through any new stove before you take it inside your dwelling so the paint can cure.😂😂😂😂😂

Jesus Christ Loves you, and He rules. John 3:14-18 And as Moses lifted up the serpent in the wilderness, even so must the Son of Man be lifted up, 15 that whoever believes in Him should not perish but have eternal life. 16 For God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son, that whoever believes in Him should not perish but have everlasting life. 17 For God did not send His Son into the world to condemn the world, but that the world through Him might be saved.18 “He who believes in Him is not condemned; but he who does not believe is condemned already, because he has not believed in the name of the only begotten Son of God.***Amen, Amen, Amen! Thank you Father for Your Word as we strive to do Your Will. Bless Your Jesus Christ followers***
