Definitely keep these CD Whackas coming, Mazzy! Not once did we hear the diatribe about “who cut it and who mastered it, or which company this release is from which is so much better than that original version etc.” Honestly, this is a breath of fresh air! ‘Onya and cheers from Oz!
Looked like you were having allot of fun, and why not, that is such a fantastic room! I am very happy to see cds displayed. I have many and feel with the outrageous price of vinyl records perhaps a resurgence of the cd format will happen. I’d be excited about that actually. Nice variety in this video! ✌️
Hi Mazzy, thanks for showing that great '64 Post magazine cover - beautiful. Brings back memories. I watched them on TV that night. Spellbound. Yeah, Fleetwod Mac is so interesting with their various interations. The "first" self-titled LP is great and I think I may like that one better than Rumours too. I'll have to do a back to back comparison sometime. Actully like Bob Welch era quite a bit, but that's off topic here... I believe the Petty hold out for $8.98 was the "Hard Promises" LP,. I read somewhere that we was going to title is "$8.98"... I like the CD Whack a Mole as much as the vinyl WaM. Really apperciate these videos and your broad knowledge about the insudtry and related areas. Peace out.
Danny Kirwin, Mazzy. Seeing the videos of him and Peter playing. He was kind of the primary on Kiln House, Future Games, and Bare Trees. His work on Then Play On is great too. Christine and Welsh wrote songs on the later two, and Jeremy was still with them for Kiln House. I liked Danny's songs so well that I bought his solo records.
I am enjoying these Whack-a-moles. I think Rykodisc was in Salem, MA. I met Don Rose around that time, just when the label was starting (this was in Boston, 1982-nice music scene back then). The Neats, Salem 66, Classic Ruins, Dogmatics, Human Sexual Response, Del Fuego's (while they still had the hubcap player-he was gone once they signed to the major label) to name just a few.
I have to confess that I unsubscribed last week because I felt the videos were becoming too repetitive. But I just re-subscribed because I realize how much I need your expansive view. You have such an extremely high level of knowledge and interest that is extremely wide ranging. You go into interests that are way beyond my own. I was born in 1949, turning 75 this summer so you can understand the kind of music that was the atmosphere for my high school years. A Bob Dylan picture in my locker was my statement to all the other students with different fan bases in the 60's. But today it is hard to explain what that meant in those days. He was not too fashionable to the regular crowd. Best wishes to you. I plan to stay around.
Sorry I voted you w repetition , but I don’t fell that every video I make is for everyone. Just pick and choose and skip over if some don’t interest you. But thank you for coming back ✌🏼
Tony Visconti, an American producer who often worked in the UK and produced the Strawbs which introduced Rick Wakeman and began Rick's association with A & M Records.
Wondering if you ever listened to the band That Petrol Emotion. One of my favorites from the late 80’s. If you have not listened to them check out the song Here It Is… Take It!
Hi, two or three years ago i saw amongst your cd wall collection UNKLE`S - NEVER NEVER LAND ltd boxset. I asked you a question about it and you replied you can`t tell me anything about it because you`d never listened to it. That made me feel ever so slightly sad. NEVER NEVER LAND features the classic track EYE FOR AN EYE. It`s a perfect example of how to create an original piece of art by using samples and studio instrumentation. Watching this video reminded me of my original question and i wondered if all these years later you had ever listened to the EYE FOR AN EYE track. It really is a very intelligently constructed thought provoking sample track. Personally i collect both vinyl and cds ( no downloads ) only physical items so i always enjoy your cd videos just as much as your vinyl videos. Cheers From England.
Not totally true. I have listened to it many times, but is one of those albums artists, where I place the CDs in the trays and blast them. Electronic, percussive, maxi type mixes. But I’ve never really dived in and leaned about the artists that much. Their history. It’s electronic beats and mixes that simply move me, when in the mood. If I replied that I never listened, I must have misunderstood the question 🤷🏻♂️. I’ve listened to all the CDs i own. Thank you.
C'mon. give Biff Rose a shoutout as he was the inspiration for Hunky Dory. Bowie's cover of "Fill Your Heart" on that album was written by Biff Rose. Too bad Rose is not remembered or appreciated today. He was a very creative and quirky song writer and piano player.
I think Tom Petty's Hard Promises is the one where he fought the record label over the price of the album. I think he threatened to name the album $8.98.
I hate to be nit-picky Mazzy, but I'm pretty sure "domine" is pronounced "doe-min-nay". Keep these videos coming, You're one of my go-to sources for new music.
Fascinating selection. Mary Hopkin won one the very first UK TV Weekly Talent Shows- "Opportunity Knocks" with the famous "clap o meter" which was supposed to be a hitch device that measured the audience reaction to each act- it was of course fake! The show was hosted by one of the stereotypical sleazy slimy hosts- Hughie Green- one of his catchphrases was "I mean that most sincerely folks" delivered in a fake American accent. Green was revealed to be the biological father of Paula Yates who was married to Bob Geldof. She was brought up believing her father was TV Exec and presenter of UK ITVs Sunday evening religious show "Stars On Sunday" a wholesome hour of hymns and other religious stuff. He was later exposed as a randy old git who was shagging young women left right and centre- far removed from his religious wholesome family man image and it wrecked his career. The Bowie catalogue was re-released in 24 bit remastered format in 1999, these discs sound fantastic.
Much as I love Saucerful, Meddle, Animals and their early film soundtrack work, I'll always take Syd's idiosyncratic brand of English whimsy, which never really translated very well in North America, over all of those bloody marching hammers, flying pigs and dry ice.
I don’t believe in Bob Zimmerman. I just believe in me. Mazzy and me, and that’s reality. How ironic that Bob Zimmerman took that picture of the Beatles
It's a bit ironic that 80% of the first set of CD moles were are originally released during pure analog times. That wouldn't be surprising for most of us plebian music enthusiasts with tiny collections but it leaves me wondering how many CD "duplicates" you have. p s. The Six Wives of Henry VIII is a quite good album. 🙂
0:01 Hello handsome! You're a good-looking fellow, do you know that? People laugh at you, ppl hate you but why do they hate you? *Because....they....are... JEALOUS!* Look at that boyish face. Look at that sweet smile. And do you want to talk about physical strength? do you want to talk about *sheer muscle?* do you want to talk about the *Olympian ideal?* This man can get up off the floor in *TWO SECONDS!* And listen to me: You are not c-d... *You...are...VINYL!*
I’ve watched a few of your videos and quite enjoy them. My one constructive criticism is that they are too long. 15 minutes max is the limit. It’s like the CD era of 100 minute long albums. Less is more
Definitely keep these CD Whackas coming, Mazzy! Not once did we hear the diatribe about “who cut it and who mastered it, or which company this release is from which is so much better than that original version etc.” Honestly, this is a breath of fresh air! ‘Onya and cheers from Oz!
I will continue ✌🏼

Break the chain-more CD's please.
CD Whack-A-Moles are a great alternative source to show off music, and some really interesting releases to supplement the vinyl. Thanks, Chris
Great idea Mazzy. I love vinyl but defo love my CD collection.
I was in The Beatles fan club, had the mags and Xmas specials - long gone.

The song Sometimes I Forget on that LW III History cd still always gets me! Just wonderful.

Excellent presentation do more of these and you're holding them up properly that's what counts
I try to show the covers clearly ✌🏼
a great whack a mole Mazzy. Thumbs up! Trish

Nice hat Mazzy. Love to see you in a bucket hat !!! All the best from Wiltshire UK.
Nice to get CD love. The 4 minute Beatle thing was pure cheddar.
Cheddar is great to start
Loving this idea, keep up the great work😁👍🏾
Thank you ✌🏼
This was fun! I've only had a double british Costello compilation CD go bad over the decades.
Really enjoy your joy. Peace!
Excellent video Mazzy are you trying to start a CD revival! 😊 Peace and Love from 🇬🇧

I enjoyed this CD Wack-A Mole.
I like the Fleetwood Mac album 😊
Yes that's one of the reasons I like your video you do a great job
I appreciate that. Thank you ✌🏼
Enjoyed the video as usual. Ethel Merman would be proud of you.
That’s Show Biz ✌🏼
Wondering if you ever listened to the band That Petrol Emotion. One of my favorites from the late 80’s. If you have not listened to them check out the song Here It Is… Take It!
Yes I have. And I saw them once live. I had forgotten about them. Thanks for the reminder.
Please keep doing CD Whack-A-Moles!

Fleetwood Mac Bare Trees, as good as they got.
Mary Hopkin’s next album was the Visconti produced Earth Song Ocean Song and is much more solidly in the British folk vein. Worth checking out.
I have it on vinyl ✌🏼

I should have mentioned Biff. Just didn’t come in my head at that moment. These are all off the cuff ✌🏼
Nice image over your left shoulder.....
I think Tom Petty's Hard Promises is the one where he fought the record label over the price of the album. I think he threatened to name the album $8.98.
A original SUMO in the background 😮
Look after them, its histort in your hands!!!!!
Mazzy loves us!!!
Perhaps it was Mary McHopkin you were thinking of .😂😂
Yep! ❤
I hate to be nit-picky Mazzy, but I'm pretty sure "domine" is pronounced "doe-min-nay". Keep these videos coming, You're one of my go-to sources for new music.
Yeah you’re correct. I always forget 😵💫
Mary Hopkins is from Wales
Did you see the type that flashed across the screen that said: WELSH!!!!
Let's see a Whack a Mole of 5.1/4.0 surround sound discs, Blu Ray, SACDs. Well, I can wish.😂
I maybe have 25 🤷🏻♂️
That's ok Mazzy, it's a niche of a niche I've enjoyed since Quad in the 70's, many of which are getting released now digitally by the likes of Rhino.
Lookout Ethel

Yeah, many bands filled the time if a CD just because they could. Thanks for watching and commenting.
Thanks a lot. The format is irreverent, it's the content that matters.
Yup✌🏼
I always thought Damn the Torpedoes was a great album
